M1330 - Dell Recommended for University Discount

aww man... that makes it sound like all your drake orders WILL be confirmed. I'm really jealous. I feel like i missed out. I've tried to find another university with as good a discount as drake's but no such luck.. shoot.

Great job guys. They removed all of the good computers from my university page now. Sorry to blame you, don't know if it is actually your fault, but I'm pretty irritated to say the least. Sales guy gave me the premier.dell.com phone number and extension, so hopefully it gets worked out.

Yeh god damnit I had a sick laptop and now its GONE!!!

 

just called to make an order, and was given the price of $1670 for all my options plus tax/shipping. which is about $850 off. then they told me the drake manager was in the process of updating the website because the price was wrong and was suppose to start at $1400 and not $1100 and that my system was supposed to be atleast 200 more. i talked to him more and got him to only raise it $100 and give me free shipping also (wasn't included normally in the bundle)

total was $1756 after taxes and after the printer was canceled - he also added the fingerprint for me.

but the computers are off the site because hes updating the prices - good job to the people who got the deal. the reason i called was cuz i knew if you call, you immediately get an order number and confirmation. expected ship date is july 31st

 

That sucks for the kids that actually go to the schools that they lost that offer now.

they removed the XPS m1330 from recommended bundles and i think it was a mistake so all orders have been cancelled.

They took it off the UW site too....Damn. I have both UW and Drake configs saved as e-quotes, so I think it should be alright (for me). Although it may mean that I have to bump my order forward a month or so (I originally wanted to order at the end of August, I guess I will order in the end of July instead).

Dell practices dynamic pricing throughout the world. I don't understand why they don't have student offers in Singapore as in the US. I think Singapore is one of the most costly countries for the m1330...
Nevermind, I already placed an other for mine. Thankfully I'm on a scholarship for a laptop grant to pay for the m1330.

 

The saved equotes don't work either now. It says this item is invalid.

 

how do you know this 3dvirus? I was about to try my luck at ordering over the phone now, because it sounds like kickace had some success... but i don't want to do it if it'll just get cancelled.

 

Has anyone who actually placed an order yesterday received a cancellation email? I have not. It makes sense that they cancel the equotes since the orders were not placed but I'm curious to see if they do this to actual orders. Here's hoping they don't; I want that ridiculous discount!

 

chances are they are going to honor it, but that's it. No more M1330 for anyone. I was going to order another one too, and it's a shame because I actually go to Drake/university of Iowa.

I've never used an e-quote with dell. What is the normal procedure? Also, it says :

Will they require a drake.edu address to log in or the login info for the dell account?

That's precisely what I was wondering - Why you sounded disappointed/surprised (in your earlier post) that it got shut down when YOU posted it on the world wide web?!? Next time, order the quantity you want BEFORE posting it on the Web b/c chances are if it's a truly great deal, it won't last very long. Yeah, I kinda thought about it and they probably didn't take down all the good models because of the Drake thing. I've noticed that Dell makes pricing mistakes all the time (like yesterday they had a base m1330 for $4400+) and they probably corrected them. I was skeptical because I knew my school might have lots of good models (popular engineering campus ranked 5th in nation for computer engineering), but so did my friend who attends a school for culinary arts. I just didn't understand why they were getting as good of a deal since I think the school has to buy into the program with different tiers and a culinary arts school has less of an incentive than an engineering school to offer higher end computers. So pretty much, my guess is that it was a mistake to begin with. Now tonight will be the chance to try to convince them to meet me half way on a deal.

 

Hey Sirius, I've got a better question for you -

Since you seem to be the only one with a confirmed order, how long are you going to hold on to this laptop?? If my order gets canceled, I'm going to need to call dibs on your M when/if you decide to sell it

 

Hey guys I called dell and they told me something was wrong with the orders done online and that they would not be process, but then he was able to build it on the phone for the same price and i got the confirmation right away.

 

There are apparently quite a few schools with the same deal on the m1330. Apparently OSU has it too.

 

What phone number did you use for this?

 

That deal isn't as good. The processor upgrade is more expensive, it doesn't even come with the LED backlit display. not to mention the starting price is higher

But hey, still a decent deal.
