florida still has one, but their upgrades prices are off, its like 300 for a cpu upgrade that normally cost 175
-
azntfl, what do you mean all three OSU? There's only one Ohio State University.
-
Seems more plausible. -

Super HOT! XPS 1330 for under $500
Called and removed:
3 yr warranty -$200
Printer -$99
8400 video -$100
Memory -$150
New total $496
That was taken from slickdeals.net
Wow if someone got that congrats! -
Lol, actually I just canceled my M1330 order hahaha.
But I reordered. Only difference was, I upgraded to a T7300 processor, I took off the printer, added complete care warranty, got shipping for free, added complete care. -
-
How much you got urs to be?
I'll get mine with T7100 instead, 2gb ram, with 3 year warranty, took off complete care for only $1,300. -
total was around $1400 shipped and after taxes. I'm talking to him and probably ask him to take off the 2GB ram.
edit - Total is $1407.56
I'm calling him to take off 2GB to lower the price. -
-
No wonder this deal died. The people on slickdeals found out about it. lol
-
what number is everybody calling?

1Yr Warranty -
mine was 1500 with t7300, led lcd, upgraded vid card, 1GB ram, and 3yr accidental. I can probably get more off if I take off the accidental, but I might just keep it.
-
I'm still looking for other schools that offer the M1330...
-
don't go to drake, said i did and specifically told him where to go on the bundle page (just said i go to drake and was gonna order online but wanted an immediate confirmation and i know phone orders do it - then said it was the xps m1330 in the recomended bundles section, to get him to the right deals)
never even asked for my email or anything related to school. i live in missouri (go to mizzou) but they dont have the m1330, only business. never asked why im not in iowa, etc. he also was able to add the fingerprint reader even though it wasn't an option
i suggest anyone planning to do this - don't do it online - call them because you get a immediate confirmation number - meaning you are completely set and won't get the order canceled or never confirmed. -
Fusion - Can you return your M1210? I would and order an M1330.
-
What other schools have the deal???
-
-
Kickace; Sirius: What number are you calling to get someone on the phone. I will probably do this rather than see if my online is going to cancel out. Are they able to price match it pretty easily or do you have to haggle with them?
-
Sirius what could I get for $1000 shipped and everything that is my budget.
-
-
So as far as I know, there isn't anything you can do besides go with a Florida State deal.
Sorry, I'll let you know if I come up with something. -
-
-
Looks like its dead. I tried to call in an order, all the CSRs got an email not to honor any Drake-related price, and that theyre manually killing all the online orders of it.
-
-
Have you tried University of Florida's pricing? It's still gives a sweet deal for the XPS m1330.
-
-
I checked Florida. The prices are at least $200 more than the Drake deal, plus no printer.
Screw this, I'm reordering a T61. *Sigh* Back to the back of the line. -
ufl has sweet price..but....if you want to upgrade your cpu...it's sucks!

Even if it doesn't come with the printer, it's nevertheless a sweet deal. -
-
Seriously though, wouldn't dell do something to verify that you were a University of Florida student?
-
-
Now, given that prospective students are students who merely applied for the school or has given interests for the school, then it's perfectly legal for a regular student to be a prospective student and to use their prospective student for discount. -
they sent a confirmation email for the 2nd order.
-
I have a question.
If i find another university (not drake) that has an m1330 deal (of course it wont be as good as Drake's)... but lets say it comes out to be a little out of my price range but i place the order for it online anaway...
CAN i then call Dell, have them remove the printer ($99), lo-jack ($119), and 3yr plan ($200) to make it fit my budget??? -
Well, I call in, try to make some changes to the order without a confirmation email. The guy said that he cannot change anything including the printer since it's onen part of the deal...and he also mentioned that the confiramtion email should be sent out later today or tomorrow. Hope it is true.
BTW, YMMV and it's an Indian guy... -
So, who here has received a confirmation email from Dell? It seems like not many have...
-
Are you all calling the Dell university/employee purchase number? And if so, what are you telling them - you're from such and such a university? Then what?
-
By the sound of the email that CSRs got, only people who used *@drake.edu addresses will see their orders get confirmed and shipped. All others will get cancelled, regardless of the "Prospective Student" option.
Anyway, I've been browsing around for over an hour, I have yet to find another deal thats even remotely close to the drake one. -
I don't think saying you are a prospective Drake University student, and not being one just to mooch off of the college's deal is ethical... In fact I believe it is NOT ETHICAL.
Drake University is a private school, so it is possible the private school has a special deal with Dell because that school has the special XPS notebook with money off that you can't find for all colleges. For all you know, Drake University may be subsidizing notebook purchaces so their university students get a discount. Have you ever thought maybe Drake University (a private one) ops to give dell x dollars per notebook purchaced from their students because they can do that because they are privately funded by their students or guardians? Real perspective Drake University students will apply to Drake, and pay an application fee... If you have not applied to Drake or never intend to, then you are defrauding the system.
Be assured, that I will be contacting DELL. Maybe I will get a deeper discount for myself, who knows.
Lastly, think about it this way. Finacial aid, is free money for low income students/families. This Drake University expliot can be parallel to the illegal action of lying on your FASA in order to receive college money. Both are unethical. Have a good day, and please DO NOT conduct in illegal activity.
PS If you consider me a jerk, then so be it. Sometimes moral individials get labeled as jerks. -
I'm on the phone with Dell now regarding my M1210...
Checking out my options. -
I placed order today around lunch time and got both the acknowledgement and confirmation emails 10 minutes late.
Just called to cancel the printer to get $99 plus tax back.
Sean -
Who said anything about ethics.
No university is giving Dell money to sell discounted laptops. This was actually just a pricing error combined with an EPP discount. If you got in, whatever, it's your lucky day. It happens every day at Dell, I doubt anyone there loses any sleep over it. -
By explioting the system, in fact you are taking away from Dell profits, which may in the future be partly passed on in deals for average people... There is a reason why this deal is only listed under Drake University, am I correct?
-
-
I made an order last night - never got a confirmation (just acknowledge)
I made another order this morning - got both confirmation and acknowledge in 5 minutes. Shows "in process".
(I think it depended on how busy the servers were at that moment. Also, the second time I put "Drake EPP" under company name, first time I put nothing).
Already called/canceled my laser printer for $99 off. Plan on calling once I receive to cancel the extended warranty (they said you can later).
Here's my upgrades - (is this pretty standard - anything else I should have done?)
