I made new version of the 540M with memory clocks upped and the voltage also 0.01v higher for perfect stability ;)

I may release a new pack this weekend with this one included.

The vesa mod was a major fail. Didn't work in my testing.

I also have looked for AES-NI. I have not found anything yet. I think it is already enabled. I am not sure.

Try to show the hidden stuff in the BIOS.
More tweaking for the GPU if available would be awesome!

    Great work again ;)
But I still will overclock using software until I find something that worth the BIOS flasing :p

No there is no way. Because when the intel part works. It immediately controls the nvidia chip leaving it disabled at boot I think. I am not sure. But this is just a guess...

If someone can find out how we can make our own vbios with the files included in the intel driver files we can probably release them. But last time I tried integrating those directly I had no working intel graphics. Probably due to incorrect settings I dont know of yet.

Wel so far the drivers for Windows 8 are concerned. You shouldn't worry.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology - Available at Intel
INF Update Utility - Available at Intel
Nvidia drivers - Available at Nvidia
USB 3.0 - Natively supported by Windows 8
Intel Graphics - Available at Intel website
Our Wifi cards: will probably get supported natively, or they will be available because newer laptops may have those. But the latest drivers for our laptop may work on windows 8 as well :)

    I think you shouldn't worry :)!

I am currently trying to get some money together to buy a 8GB RAM module. I was hoping I could get the 16GB capacity to work. if its not already working. :p It would be a great asset :D

My latest BIOS mod I am testing is stable so far. 672/1344/987/0.86v
I usually ran those clocks at 0.85v stable. But now I upped voltage by 0.01v

    Anyone want this?

Please note that memory overclocks only have a marginal effect on performance. Specially on our low resolution 1366x768. Only those who play with high end external monitors will benefit :)

voila I made the list of new BIOS mods that are coming :)!

Those who are willing to donate please do :) I will solely spend it on trying to buy information or guides from other developers / bios modders. If I have some left I could try getting 2x 8gb ddr3 modules :)

I really would like getting the vesa modes to work, pputting some more research in AES-NI, updating intel microcode

i am not worry about main drivers
i mean cuztiomization like that on quickset

also intel graphics driver is cuztomized by dell
if you test wdp 8 brightness not controlled

hope that dell do it for windows 8 :)

what will you do with 16 gb i think 4 is so enough :D

good luck for your programe :)

Don't worry :)! I'm just happy you are using this mod anyway :)!

What is the voltage of the 555M mod you use? It looks like my card can't handle it anymore... Even the 550M mod doesn't work or crashes here after a while.

I was wondering if these cards actually detoriate or get worse in quality the longer we use them.

I actually don't like those 550M and 555M mods because they run too hot here :)

Which one I Should Use ?
    - GT-525M @0.85v (STABLE)
    - GT-525M to GT-540M 672/1400/900/0.86v (STABLE)
    - GT-525M to GT-540M 672/1400/987/0.86v (STABLE)
    - GT-525M to GT-550M 740/1480/900/0.87v (STABLE)
    - GT-525M to GT-550M 740/1480/???/0.87v (STABLE)
    - GT-525M to GT-555M 753/1506/900/0.87v (STABLE)
    - GT-525M to GT-555M 753/1506/???/0.87v (STABLE)

You said "2. Select your favorite BIOS mod"

How should I know my favorite BIOS ?

And of course thanks a lot for your work and waiting the new package

    @ebnkhaldon

He means choose high clocks for higher performance, low voltage for less heat output.

The safer one is the 540M one , high performance , less heat.

The 540M is 100% stable on every machine. I made a 0.87v version of it.

The 550M seems to run always unstable after a while. Now after one month. I tried installing the 550M again which was at that time stable for me. Now it isn't anymore...

It seems on any voltage the memory clock can't be higher than 987mhz. 987mhz seems to be the safest value for every machine.

My new package will have the 550M and higher versions dropped until further notice. I need to be sure they are stable.

I could however release a 700/1400/987 version if you want? That is somewhere in between and is still a pretty good balance in my opinion.

Well there are occasions you may want to use the 555M mod for example if it were stable. Counter Strike Source or CoD4 dont require much GPU power. But you may want to prevent sudden FPS drops.

CS:S has a average of 20% GPU usage on my 1920x1080 at that resolution. Every time a smoke is thrown, my fps drops to 30 FPS. I thought overclocking might minimize the problem. In those cases it is affordable.

If you play CPU/GPU heavy games, the 540M mod is always your max. If you play lighter games, which sometimes have these so called spikes, you can use higher overclocks.

Well in the end I chose the 540M mod. Why? Because it's an all around win. You simply have to live with it it is not a high end card :)

Hi and gongrats on you work.I wanted to ask you if you can make a bios with these clocks 780/1560/900 with voltage something like 0.9v .I run it with the default voltage at this clocks almost every day when i play games (wow,lol,dirt3) with no problem at all.I have it on a cooler pad and the temps are usually at 70 for cpu,MAX 80 and for the gpu max 70. Thank you a lot.

It spins all the time, but it's very silent, so you can't hear it. From time to time, it spins faster for better cooling, and you can hear it.
    I hope this helps.

install msi afterburner and post back... Also post back your Nvidia Control Panel Global Configuration

Most likely a driver issue... 51C is normal... Fan always shuts down under that. Or it's very low spinning...

555M and 550M are very dangerous indeed. They run a lot hotter than stock. 540M is stable all around. 550M and 555M are unstable here. They worked before... I suggest going with 540M

I badly need to try those 8GB DDR3 modules if they work. I run a lot out of memory on this notebook. I need to run two virtual machines. 12GB RAM would at least save me temporarily.

Bentoo. If I see you here again. I will kick your thingy !

Your GPU can take max 95C. You are doing great! 70C is damn good. Specially with that GPU usage.

I am only wondering. What is the CPU usage... Whats your CPU ?

Those temps are way better than me on those clocks. Probably because I have an i7.

Install 290.53 beta drivers. Make sure you check the box of doing a clean install...

Also, keep the box at auto selection for the GPU. When launching a game. The best way is to right click and select the graphics processor manually. At least that'S how I do it :)

Is that hardware problem or software?
And i wanted to tell that i again flashed with 555m(wanted some more fps in batman) and getting no problem..

Hey guys, thank you for your time to improve our Lappys!
Now I have successfully overclocked my 525M to:
    Core Clock 800Mhz
    Shader Clock 1600Mhz
    Memory Clock 987Mhz

The max tempertaure was 71C But that was on very heavy benchmarking.
I use Autodesk Inventor all the time at 100% GPU usage and don't get more than 60degC. I used 540M mod, with 268.30 drivers (The only one that works for me). Cheers again. After the overclock the MSI Combustor benchmark went from 1400 to 1700.

Edit: BTW, the CPU is i3 @ 2100mhz

    Where's the All-in-one package v4 ?!
    I want to flash to GT-525M to GT-555M 753/1506/900/0.87v.

And if you may for extra 0.01v for the GT 555M for extra stability like GT 540M mod I would be thankful :)

Due to degradation reports from me and N5110.X or MPIXAPP, undervolting will maybe be discontinued until we have reached a stable voltage.

In the beginning we could run the 525m chip at 740/1480/900 clocks at 0.86v-0.87v

Now these chips don't seem to be able to run it at 0.88v anymore. There is a clear sign of degradation. Even if you run your GPU at stock clocks and voltages, or if you only happen to have it undervolted.

Also when doing benchmarks, I recommend doing tests with CPU and GPU active...

I actually don't recommend benchmarking or stability tests. I suggest running a game and see if it crashes or throttles. I even don't do Prime95 in a desktop anymore for various reasons.

If you want to prevent degradation and you plan on keeping this laptop for a long time consider:
    - Lower CPU frequency or limit it if possible. (eg disable turboboost by limiting max freq to 2.0ghz (99% max processor state))
    - Don't be scared to underclock your GPU when playing a game if you already run it fine.
    - VSync can be set to 40hz refresh rate, that's like 33,33% the GPU has to work less when gaming. If you ask me if that is too low? No... I still dominate counter strike source with this refresh rate.

I just want you guys to know there is degradation present in our GPU. It is possible this is normal, in this case we don't have to worry. But this said, means our undervolts won't be stable FOREVER...

    Greetz!

    Dear OP,

I have downloaded the package All-in-one package v3 but I am a bit confused that how do I flash the bios with the said package as I am not a techy person.

Any step-by-step guide to flash the bios is really appreciated. By the way, my Integrated graphics have the latest version of drivers and my GT 525M has 295.51 beta drivers installed.

    Thank you in advance.

How did you do that? I also want to do the same. Please guide me. I play NFS (The run) or Hot Pursuit but the fan runs so fast and my laptop release so much heat from the heat sink

Please give me step-by-step guide. I don't wanna ruin my PC :(

First you need to download the all in one package from the first post.
Then you will need to flash your bios with 555m rom file using the "AFUWINGUI.EXE"(\N5110_ModPack_20111127\amiflash\aptio)
Then after flashing you need to shut down the laptop and then start it again by pressing the power button..
After that download msi afterburner and increase the clocks slowly dont go too high or it will cause damage to your system..
After that just play any game and see if it runs good (without crashing or errors).

BTW: Dont worry about the heat released from the heat sink its normal just check your temps while playing games and if temps are very high then dont overclock more...
    GOOD LUCK ;)

NFS hot pursuit used to give 60 fps before flashing with very bad graphics(lines with textures and cars) but now it gives 30-40fps with original graphics...
Dont know this happened because of flashing or updating graphics driver

No don't , you've already matched Radeon HD 6770M on stock!
So there is no need for more , and for sure it will need more voltage.

    Hello all,

    @djjonastybe

I am interested how you made the mods,

I am working with the latest bios at the moment but cant seem to load it in NiBiTor to edit what i need in the bios.

Mainly i would like to change the Fan logic and I see it has the needed options for this but cant load the dumped bios into it.

Please some help with this :)

I would like to make the fan run and keep the GT525M cool, I dont care about the noise.

    Thanks

@sungrief , there is no need for BIOS mod to make the fan run 100%.

Upon the startup of the laptop click FN+X, The fan will run 100%.

Anyway , you can't change the Fan logic through BIOS modding.

    Good luck :)

    Hi

@MPIXAPP please look at the attachment, i saw the fan logic controls in NiBiTor, so in theory just as the Clocks can be altered, the logic also should be able to be changed.

I am not sure wheather there is VGA fan or it is just the Processor fan,

Upon clicking FN/x on startup a test appeared and it testet the processor fan. Also it did not remain running when windows booted up.

If there is only 1 fan named processor fan, just as the test alters its speed, it should be possible to alter it via some software i guess but this is maybe more of a MB Bios mod maybe?

    Hi,
I know your looking to change the fan speed via a bios edit.
But in windows if your looking to manually control or create a custom fan spin up curve you can use HWiNFO to do just that with your laptop.
    HWiNFO64 Download
I use it to manually force my fan to 100% while I play games like Skyrim or other 3D intensive games.

If you would like pointers on how to use the manual fan control in HWiNFO then ask away.

Hey but why force the fan to speedup??
It automatically spins according to the temperature and keeps the gpu,cpu cool..

Could you give instructions on how to get it configured?

    Hi,
Install HWiNFO64 (I'm basing the options using v3.93-1530)
    Launch HWiNFO64
In the small window that pops up check "Sensors Only" option and click the "Run" button.
At the bottom of the "HWiNFO64 Sensor Status" window that opens you will find a little icon with a pic of a fan, click it.
New window "HWiNFO64 fan control" opens.

Manual force a hard set speed:
At this window you can slide the slider control to the right and click the "Set manual" button.
Once you have set it you can exit HWiNFO64 and the fan will stay running at the speed you have set until you reboot or until you change the option in HWiNFO64 again.

Once you work out where the settings are that I describe above you'll be able to work the rest out pretty easily from there.
Such as "Custom Auto" fan control which you can specify which temps the fan will increase it's speed instead of manually hard setting the fan to one speed.

I've actually just written a script to basically launch HWiNFO64 when windows starts and then exits HWiNFO64, saves me having to click and set things each time windows starts.

    Hello!
I have an Dell Vostro 360 BTS All In One PC with an Nvidia GT 525M graphics card.
As I see, it seems to be the same model as in your N5110.
Can I use this moded version on my system?
    Thank you a lot!
