    @MPIXAPP

Thank you for your quick response.
Is there an mod or something for my system?
It's not an laptop at all, its an All In One Desktop PC, but seems to work like an laptop, because of the 525M version.
How could I increase the graphics performance?
    Thanks!

You can overclock it easily using MSI Afterburner.
If you need any overclock hep just ask.

Sure.. never overclocked an graphics card before.
Is it permanent after each reboot?
How much can I overclock it?
Would it not generate more heat?

1 - It will generate more heat.
2 - Every chip has it's own overclocking limit.
3 - You can set it to apply at system startup.
4 - Try 700 for the core clock first, and give me screenshot of MSI Afterburner.
5 - To make sure it's stable , run any game for about 30 minutes, if there is no crashes or aircrafts then you're fine.

    Good luck :)

It's way too dangerous , if any thing goes wrong you will brick your machine.
Anyway right now I'm just overclocking using MSI Afterburner , I will not mess with my BIOS because it's not worth the risk.

    Good luck my friend :)

Hi djjonastybe, i am getting to much heat on my N5110.

    It has an I5 2430M and a 525M
the card is too hot so i need to lower the voltage.
The bios you have now is what i am really looking for! But wait!
I currently have the A07 bios on my machine, the stock one.
Should i directly use your modded bios or upgrade to A09 first?
And what tools should i use?
Is it safe? because i really need this.

    If it works i'll donate.

Upgrade to A09 first and watch the temps. Try using more monitoring apps to see if there aren't any reading issues.

Uhm, took it the safest way.
Downloaded speedfan, it controls my fan speed, let's it 30% all the time and 100% when hot, idle temps from 51 on gpu to 38, AWESOME.

I love this notebook after the quickfix in speedfan, never going past 85C (both cpu and gpu) on really extreme conditions with an overclock of 800/1600/1000 on the 525m and I5 always turbo boosted, test was 3 hours long of 100%cpu and gpu use ;)

Still, thanks OP for your effort on the bios, but the speedfan method is easier. :)
And MPIXAP, i checked the changelog for both A08 and A09 and they're both just adding compatibility to new sound cards and cpu's nothing fixed or improved. NOT WORTH UPGRADING.

MPIXAPP - BIOS Modding is not terrifying. The worst stuff happens over here when I have to test the BIOS and have my system repaired every time...

All you get is a working BIOS...

    Install my latest BIOS mod.

It has a undervolted GT-525M at 0.9v and the 2D clocks run at 0.83v
I also updated the microcode. It improves power management and performance. My N5110 is doing fine.

If you like my latest addition feel free to donate ;) I worked hard getting this microcode incorporated in our BIOS ;) The update also gives you up to 1MB RAM extra ;)

I am currently saving up for a new keyboard. My current one still has a PS/2 plug and is failing. :(

So.. if i update from A07 to yours? (A09 modded) is it perfectly safe if i don't touch anything?
Your first post with the LARGE red text scared me, but it seems safe from your post.

So i click update on the right .exe then it will say done.
I need to shutdown and not restart, then everything works?

I think that you can safely use it.

May I ask you something , can you tell me what's your ASIC qualty ( GPU-Z ).

Click on the top left icon ( GPU-Z Icon ) and then choose Read ASIC quality.

    Hello everyone :)
This is my first post EVER on any internet forum ( i made account only to post on this thread )
I have read all the posts on the thread and i have to accept that i m pretty much a noob as i dont understand most of the terminologies :p

First of all, i wud like to thank djjonastybe for the amazing work he is doing.

    I have the following configuration
    inspiron n5110
    i5 2410M
    4 gig ram
    500 gig HDD
    525m 1gb

about 20 days ago, i modded my 525m to 550m running at 740/900/1480 @0.86 volts. Temperatures are pretty much fine during gameplay as i also have a cooling pad.

now coming to the real question, shud i keep this mod running?? will it affect my GPU life?? or shud i switch to the N5110A9_MOD.rom present in the latest update by djjonastybe and overclock my gpu through afterburner?

I wud love to donate but i live in Pakistan and i dont have a credit card, Paypal doesnt work here :(

    Because it's not pre-overclocked.

I used to get slider option to overclock it more in msi afterburner...

Because the older mods was pre-overclocked so MSI Afterburner allowed more overclocking.

Use EVGA Precision, it will allow OCing up to 960 for the Core Clock.

    Stick with:

    Shader: 1600
    Memory: 1000

    Don't go any further.

The lines are called artifacts, either a sign of overheating or too much overclocking, so keep lowering the clocks until they stop.

What i suggest is going back to the stock bios from the dell website a9 not undervolted, and overclocking with the default volts.
    Safest thing you can do.

    hey guys,

I have a n5110 with gt525m / i5 that has stock dell A09 rom. I was looking for solutions to my heat problem (cpu would reach 100C and throttle down after playing GTA4 for 15 minutes) and found this site.

Well, if I try to run afuwinx64.exe on windows 7 (64 bit) it just gives me an error message. 'Error: Flash Part is Not Supported' to be specific. If I try to boot into DOS and use afudos.exe, it then says that the bios is write-protected.

...what the heck is going on here? I know the stock Dell bioses flash just fine because I flahsed from A02 to A09 just a few days ago. Any ideas?

    Before modding the BIOS.
Have you tried keeping the vents of the laptop open , or maybe using a cooler?

Or you can simply turn off turbo boost and shave off about 10C.

    Good luck :)

I don't have a cooling pad, but I've done a few things to improve cooling.

    1. Cleaned the vents (they were already clean though)
    2. Removed the heatsink and applied Artic Silver 5 to CPU/GPU, after thoroughly cleaning whatever was already on there.

#2 helped a bit, but didn't solve the problem. The temps still go up to 98c, though now it takes longer to get there.

I'll be disabling turbo boost if nothing else works, but, what's the point? If I wanted a slower CPU I could have gotten an i3 in the first place.

So, can anyone help me with the dell bios being write-protected?

    That's waayy much.

Stick with a maximum of 800 clock and 1600 shader, 1000 memory (987 is better)
