How to overclock core more than 780MHz?

Sometimes voltage on gpu is 0.98V, is it normal? But when gpu is on load it's 0.9V

I will make it tonight. My laptop will be RMAed in two days. The screen is about to fall off :p So I will hurry making the voltage mod 0.83v

    I will make these tonight:

    0.83v
    0.85v
    0.9v

    and the overvolted 0.98v, 1v

the overvolted should only be used on i3 systems or i5 systems.
You can use the overvolted together with an i7 if you set max processor state to 99% to prevent turbo boost from happening.

Did anyone use Artic Silver 5 on their N5110 ?
    Any good results ?

Use the flashing tools from a package from my first post.

    Release:
    0.83v
    0.85v
    0.90v
    0.95v - stock
    0.98v
    1.00v

All have latest microcode updates as well.

    Multiupload
    DepositFiles

Donations are more than welcome to keep my N5110 running!

I used Cooler Master IC Essential E2 thermal paste , results are better in load temps but idle temps are the same. I did it 3 times because I failed in the first 2 times :D

About the overvolted BIOS. It could easily burn the chip because overvolting is the most dangerous thing you can do to a chip.

    Good luck :)

overvolting is safe. The GT-525M can take 0.98v since it's the same chip as the GT-540M which has officially 0.98v.

But for temperature reasons, they went with the GT-525M for the Inspiron N5110.

If you want to overclock your GPU. Make sure to disable turbo boost. The biggest heat generator is the CPU in our laptops.

I tested Virtu MVP, doesn't seem to be working on the N5110 sadly enough.

Good luck with the new BIOS I released. I will be happy to take any donations. PM me for details.

As soon as I find a way unlocking extra menu's safely we will be able to disable hyperthreading or do other useful things.

    0.98v, 1.00v - show 0.83V
0.85v, 0.9v - show normal voltage , but when gpu is on load it's 0.83V
    0.83v and stock work perfectly

    As for me
    0.83v - work stable 685/1410 MHz and ~980MHz Memory*
    0.9v - work stable 770/1540 MHz and ~980MHz Memory*
    0.95v - work stable 770/1540 MHz and 962MHz Memory*

*The stable frequency of memory depends on the temp:
    <70C - stable 990MHz
    <80C - stable 980MHz
    >80C - stable 962MHz

limit max cpu frequency to 99% in power plan manager from windows. You don't need all the cpu power. It can help you getting further :p You can limit the cpu frequency as much as you want.

AFAIK a09 bios had 0.98v stock voltage.
did a10 changed that to 0.95v?

I turn off the TurboBoost only in games(coz - no fps win), but in another situation, why not to use(if temp is normal)
What about voltage mod (0.85 and 1v) ?

    icsterm
    yes, 0.98V - idle
    0.95V - load

    it's a driver issue.

But I fixed it by removing 0.98v and replaced it with the 3D voltage. So it can never be higher

So I actually fixed the driver issue for you guys ;)

    EG:

    2D: 0.83v
    low power: 0.83v
    3D: 0.95v

    voltage table:
    id1: 0.83v
    id2: 0.95v
    id3: 0.95v
    id4: 0.95v

I hope I fixed the problem.

firstly thanx for your good job then
    my laptop dell inspirion n 5110 i7 2630 gt 525
i cant overclock while using 0.95 version because of heat issue i make the clock 700 and game working good while heat goes to 91 ..
i tried other version 0.85 0.90 and game keep suturing
now i`m using 0.83v for better temp but with no overclock because game stopped when i do that,
i suggest to make 0.86 bios may be it goes well , or to fix 0.85v
    thank u

Well, I have my dell inspiron n5110, i7, 8gb ram (peacock blue), gt 525m, for about 2 months. I have to mention that i use it for video editing and a little bit of gaming. I know that is normal in rendering, the gpu to get hotter, but when i play a game like fifa 12 on low it stays very hot, and blows out much hot air. Please provide me a solution to reduce the heat generated. I have already used Msi Afterburner and Nvidia Inspector, but there were not any great result, and also reduce the usage of cpu, to prevent using turbo boost. If there is a solution to reduce temperatures tell me. I want to keep the temps at around 60-70 C in gaming, or lower if it is possible.
I have to mention that i have upgraded bios to A10.

As i said i disabled turbo boost, by setting cpu maximum state lower than 100, but i need something to make the gpu (gt525m) cooler (lower temperatures in games).

You have to set it to 99%

Another solution could be to disable Hyperthreading and leave turbo boost on.

    Solutions:
    - Use undervolted GPU BIOS
    - Disable hyperthreading
    - Disable turboboost

These are the only I know off.

Another solution is to replace thermal paste. But again there you have the risk of breaking something while opening your laptop.

But you can have a professional replace it.

I have to note that the driver bug is still present. At least it's not overvolting anymore. So the issue of overvolting is fixed.

Thank you for your fast reply.

Could you provide me the link for the undervolted bios of gpu(i mean the safest and the most cooler one)?

I dont want to change things in laptop yet (phisically talking, i have it just for 2 months now).(About thermal paste - i think Arctic Silver 5 is the best). I am also planning to buy a cooler pad in the future.

Just pick a old package A09 to get the tools you need. And then Download A10 Mod pack with all the flavor.

Looks like driver issue is fixed in latest beta bios from Nvidia

@Daniel. Still doing my best! I try to improve the N5110 where i can

As it was said, tools are in the A09 package, and this mod only changes the GPU voltage. If you want to overclock you can use MSI Afterburner.

Sorry for being a total scrub but how do you actually do the entire operation?I downloaded the A9 tools and the new A10 ROM files and i am now staring at a folder called"amiflash" and a bunch of A10 ROM foles (ranging from 083-100). Inside the "amiflash" folder there is a "amibios" and an "aptio" one. What do i actually have to do? Do i have to pick my preferred A10 ROM file and move it into one of these folders or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I see ur new to BIOS flashing.
If u want to cool down ur gpu then just choose the 0.83v or 0.85v BIOS file. If u want to overclock ur gpu u can use a higher voltage one which will make ur gpu more stable.
To check which BIOS you have, restart ur computer and hold f2. Then a blue screen will apear. Somewhere there it should say which BIOS u have. (I personally have ami aptio BIOS)
Also u need to run one of the tools and select the bios file u want to flash (afudos is the safest, but its not that simple to use...). I recommend you to read this before flashing. Good Luck!
EDIT: Make sure you have read all the instructions in the first post!

Would anyone be interested in a completely 0.83v based GPU mod and also underclocked? I thought this might be interesting for the non-gamers among us.

I am also going to try underclocking the 2D clocks.

Don't get the 300 series drivers.

I suggest you stick with the 29x series. Power management is seriously broken in 30x series.
    Latest beta is still broken.

I am also programming a tool that is able to hack the Nvidia driver and configure some hidden settings. I noticed with Optimus, the discrete card is never actually turned off... But simply idling in 2D clocks.

You have just read my mind. I already use an underclocked (via MSI Afterburner, by 1/3) and completely 0.83v based GPU. I limited my processor usage to 50%, which also means that I disabled Turboboost too. Its quite ironic because I do play many games, but i still prefer PC life than performance. (my GPU and CPU don't get over 72C while playing bf3, and I can't see too many differences in performance, no cooling pad used)

Good luck with your tool! I was just wondering... What is optimus? The answers I find on google are too complicated and not clear enough for me.

It's explicitly written below the download link.

Undervolting the GPU, you don't but I do. It's bios modding actually

Does anyone want seriously underclocked 2D clocks ?

    2D 30/60/90
    Low Power 150/300/225
    3D 300/600/450
    OR
    3D 450/900/675

This way I can undervolt the 3D clocks more to hopefully 0.8v but there will be a significant loss in performance for the gamers.

I am currently testing 0.8v for 2D and low power. If I succeed I will push this through. And slightly underclocked.

Applied Arctic Silver 5. I haven't noticed any difference in idle temps. Lowest idle temp is still the same. But tends to stay close all the time. It's hard to tell due to fan active treshold.

    Hi,
i try to flash 0.85.rom in your first post but appear a message: "bios is write protect"
pls give me a guide to unlock the write protect and if is possible next modiffications:
    1. change geforce bios - 525m>550m (4>16 ROPS) and voltage to 0.85 in 3D
    2. change CPU Vcore table and eventualy decrease the CPU ratio from 22 to 19-20.

my notebook is equiped with pentium G960 2,2 GHz dual core and GPU Geforce GT 525m w 1GB GDDR3

    thank you anticipated.

If I'm not mistaken ROPS is hardware, we can't add that through a bios modification*, just like we can't add extra cores to a CPU by modding the bios.

*Unless the hardware was there but locked in the vbios like the desktop HD6950 -> 6970 awhile back. I doubt this is the case.

You're right. Even the GT 550M has 4 ROPs only. GF108 GPU has 4 ROPs in general so we can't modify that.

Can everyone try the 0.85v BIOS please?

Please install latest WHQL drivers testing that BIOS.

If it crashes for one person I will release a 0.86v. If that one crashes I will release a 0.87v.

I am trying to find the lowest stable voltage for everyone. So please help me testing this.

The new 0.8v idle is working fine so far here.

Hello. I sucessfully installed the A10 0.87 bios for my GT 525. Is there any way to squeeze more performance out of this graphics card?
