Flashed my Nvidia 525m to the 0.98v voltage BIOS, but it started crashing so had to restore back to stock BIOS.
Well right now I am overclocked at Core Clock 800, Memory Clock 950.

Trying to get higher any ideas on how to get it higher? Changing from 0.95 to 0.98 didn't work it made it very unstable.

You are overheating I think. Everything above 700mhz was a dice roll for stability. test stability using unigine heaven first

Nop not overheating, temp around 70-75 Degrees Celcius.
Right now stable at 815/900 I already used Unigine Heaven as its stable at these clocks.

    That's a very good overclock.

Make sure you run Unigine to stress the MCU as well. Best is to attach a secondary monitor with a huge resolution.

Hello, thanks for the firmware, I flashed 555m, how can I raise the CPU frequency more than 753 MHz, the temperature is not a problem, what voltage I choose? Thank you .. When I pick up 753 more begin glitches, but Papichoolo wrote that lifted up to 815 ..

    Does it effect the gpu?

Have you been able to install 16gb yet? I have 2x4gb now and want to put in 2x8gb if it works, but I have not found anyone that has done it or wants to do it. According to Dell 8gb is max but intel says the i5-2410M can handle 16gb, but if there is something on the MB that does not calculate 16 it may not work, any thoughts? Unfortunately I don't have the Nvidia so the Intel HD Graphics uses 1.6gb off the top of the 8gb I have available, anyway any help will be appreciated.

I just wanted to say "Thank you very much" to the creator of those mods and all the people who contributed. With the lowest voltage mod + cooler my temperatures barely exceed 70 degrees Celcius when gaming, working on a couple of virtual machines or rendering - i7 quad core!

I have dell isnpiron 5110 and currently I have installed a new copy of windows 8, windows 8 is working fine but when I plug the ac adapter , laptop hangs, no mouse movement, every thing freezes, ctl+alt+del does not work, then only option to shut down the computer forcefully

my bios is upto date , I have installed new bios (A11 from dell support website) and also all new drivers for windows 8.

I think that this problem happens with the new update of BIOS (A11) from Dell.

Can I Flash my Bios again with a with this custom files ??

finally my problem has been fixed ..... after using this mod N5110_A11_085.ROM .... and speed step is Enabled ..... using a cooling pad ( but it sucks :) ) finally my fps do not go down as usual in Battlefield 3 and other games ...... now i can play battlefield3 on medium without fps drops ....... this is the only mod that allowed me to play this game without fps sudden drop .....

although my temps can reach 95 c as maximum but the average is 88 or similar

with past mods as soon as my temps hit 90 c fps drop started ..... but now even with 95 c there is no sudden fps drop .......

thank you for this Bios mod that gives me the ability to use speed step + play games

there is a problem related to windows 8 with this model Inspiron N5110

win8 freezes as long as wireless adapter is enabled

im sure it is because of wireless adapter ..... if i disable wireless adapter no freezes

problem is reported to Dell support and they are working on fixing it ....... Keep an eye on this thread

I am still saving up money. I am 99% sure it's possible. I am doing my best. I need to save up money for my desktop build as well which is aging to support my Android community. The memory controller should be able to handle it. The only disadvantage is that we cannot adjust VTT voltage.

smic18. Flash BIOS again using one of my files. If that does not work. Downgrade to BIOS A09. Contact Dell about the issue first before doing crazy stuff.

smic18: to see if it's a software issue with Windows 8, go into bios first. When in BIOS Setup plug in the charger. If the BIOS freezes you will know if Windows is the problem or not.

I am however thinking you may have to do either a motherboard replacement or the small chip on the rear left. If I am right it was a separate chip. I am not sure. It has been a while since I opened my N5110.

Hey guys i'm new here, but have been following this thread for a long time......i learned about HWiNFO64 From this site and have been using it ever since.... i never used your bios mod but i did manage to OC my gt525m to 672mhz without any problem while having the turbo boost turned off(the gpu always stays below the cpu Temp by 2-3C).......Lately i've been trying to clock it @ 740mhz, but it increases the temp by 3-4C...... so i was searching around for other solution and came across people who mod their heatsinks... so i trying to be a smart- thought of removing the RAM Cover of the N5110 and adjusting the fan on the cooler pad(Cooler master U2) right below it......IT WORKED ,Temps Reduce by 2-4C while gaming.... this along with HWiNFO works like a charm... when i want to game i just remove the Cover....CPU went to about 82C (avg 78C, gpu lower by 3C) on NFS Hot Pursuit(2010) max setting, 1 hour 40 minutes of gaming....... tried with turbo boost turned on went fine for about an hour but started throttling< checked realTemp CPU went to 99C(avg 93C) gpu maxed at 90C(current was 84C ..fgt the avg temp )....... sorry for the long post, maybe it'll be helpful.

    Hi all,
i just wanted to ask have anyone downgraded from A11 to A09 official Dell bios on Dell Insirion 15R n5110 with forceit command. I have issues in win 7 after i installed A11 when i plug in or plug out the charger the screen goes blank for like five seconds and comes back again and it started after the bios update. My n5110 has only Intel HD3000 graphics. Any advice will be appreciated.

    Hi djjonastybe,

I have successfully flashed my bios using one of your roms - N5110A11-550M.
Before using your modded bios, my laptop used to shutdown during gameplay - Mafia II - COD Black Ops II - NFS Most Wanted - Assassin's Creed III/high demanding software - 3Ds Max/Sony Vegas Movie Studio use.

Now, it runs much smoother and much more cooler.

Thanks very much for your efforts and time.

    My notebook specs:
    Dell N5110
    Windows 8 Pro 64Bit
    16GB ram
    1 TB HDD
Nvidia Gt-525M 1 GB dedicated graphics - optimus

    Hi.

If I connect a hdmi cable (monitor) to my hdmi port, then randomly reboot the nvidia driver. The screen is black 1-2 sec and everything is ok. Is there a solution?

    Spec: DELL INSPIRON N5110: CORE I3 2310M / Nanya 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 RAM + KINGSTONE 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 RAM / Intel HD Graphics 3000 + Nvidia GeForce 550M (BIOS MOD) / Wireless 1702 / 120GB SSD Samsung Series 630, Win764Bit

Tested at: bios mod driver, and official driver.

    VGA cable is correct.

    Sorry for my bad english.

    Hi,

Thank you for this great thread and of course the bios mod (550M works best for me). I already upgraded my hard drive to 120GB SSD. Now I'm thinking of upgrading the memory. My N5110 came with core i7 2670QM and 8GB of ram. According to cpu-z the memory is rated as pc-10700 (667Mhz). Can I install a 16GB 1600Mhz like this one:

    Vengeance®

    ???

It runs on 1.5V (I thing Dell stock memory is rated 1.35V). According to Corsair, the i7 cpu should identify the memory speed capability and automatically set the speed to full 1600Mhz.. Is it true? Will it work on our N5110???

    Thanks

Dont use the 555M mod its unstable. My laptop got the same specs.I use the stock mod and i play games on the core/shader/memory clocks same as 555M card using EVGA Precision.Just use the HWinfo to speed up the fan speed before starting the game.

You need to start slowly increasing the clocks and find the numbers with which your gpu remains stable.Run games, stress tests, etc.
Hwinfo is a program which can control the speed of the cpu fan.So you can set it to maximum before starting a game.

    Hi,

I installed the A11 0.83V mod, and temps seem to have dropped a bit. Also disabled Turbo Boost by limiting max state to 99%. Now, the problem... my GPU max temperature still goes pretty high, up to around 87*C (was 90+ before). What I did notice is that my fan can "only" go up to around 5200rpm if set to max via speedfan or other apps (this was the case before flashing the vbios as well, so unrelated). Few months ago, I know it ran faster under load as I can hear the difference. The reason I'm mentioning this is because I've noticed that immediately after flashing, speedfan (and other apps) can no longer see the sensor or report the rpm and the fan spins as it used to aeons ago, very fast and loud -- and while doing so, temps reach only around 65*C maximum under Furmark, which sounds about right. But after rebooting, the speed is sensed again and runs at 5.2K. Other than flashing the vbios every time I wanna play something, what can be done? Also, thermal paste is fresh MX-4. So, forum, what rpm and temps do you get under load? And does anyone else get the fan spinning really fast with great temps after flashing until reboot? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
