Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped

Have you called Dell yet about your laptop? I'm afraid to call in due to the possibility that they may bring my order up and then realize the low price, resulting in them canceling it.

 

I wouldn't expect much to happen in the next 9 to 14 days a few more should trickle in next week

 

As of today I've now been waiting 1 month for my laptop. Zzzzzzz

 

I guess I shouldn't complain since there's only a few going out...like 10 or so maybe. I'm still waiting on a new shipping date, though.

 

I have talked with corporate and they said that EDU orders will go out last. I didn't even try to get my order bumped up cause of the price that I paid I don't want it to get canceled.

 

I have a UFL order as well.. I called and they expedited shipping.. im still in pre-production too.

 

The mass shipments will start in 10biz days. 2weeks pretty much. I imagine it'll FIRO (first in, random out) for quite a while longer. me, I'm waiting til Santa Rosa refresh or Montevina I'll gimp by on the d600 for a while longer and do my VT tasks / testing remotely on my 720 (since that will be upgraded with a quad-core as soon as I get my new mobo).

 

I'm taking that includes EPP, in which mine will probably ship next year.

 

Yea... cause he didn't order through his university, he ordered through the Airforce discount.... BUT his buddy got his m1330 this week.

 

wow, nothing new on the direct2dell blog. what a surprise. i bet dell has no idea how to rectify the situation, and is therefore playing the silent treatment game.

 

No update on the direct2dell site yet.

 

Well, at least I'll get to see it for the first time next Thursday, provided it still takes 5 days to ship. There seems to be a delay with the recent typhoon.

I think this company makes the LCD panels for the M1330.

 

Oh, okay, that makes a lot of sense. At least I know that I'm not the only one out there on this forum with UFL that is in pre-production. The EDU last thing makes sense since we really aren't paying as much. I'm willing to wait for the lower price, otherwise if it is canceled, I'm gonna have to go with a MBP just cuz of price and availability.

M1330 UFL + $100 = MBP
--but--
MBP + $500 = M1330

(Although add $20 in there for Vista Ultimate for MBP)

 

On the basis of the sample of one WLED and one CCFL screen... this company makes the CCFL screen. The WLED seems to be made by CHI MEI (A Taiwanese based company).

I think they fed you bad info . Most of the orders presently being shipped are EDU orders. Doesn't seem to make sense...

When I was trying to order from Lenovo, they cited glass shortage as well.

 

I ordered M1330 on 7/20 and still in pre-production.
Quite impressive that my girl friend ordered a desktop(530s) the day before yesterday and it's already shipped yesterday. This is my first business with Dell and they impress me in many ways.

 

Got the exact same problem here. My rep also assured me it would ship then, but I've been hit by the same delay. Just emailed my rep to see what the hell is going on... doubt I'll get much sense, though he says he's following it up with the 'concerned departments'.

 

Say it ain't so! Stick it out with Apple2PC. Don't go back to Mac.

Sony SZ6 launches this Sunday!

 

I just got off of the phone with Dell and I canceled it!!! Sucks but they don't deserve my money! I am going today to look at some computers.

 

I agree I need mine for school to. So I can see a slight priority in that. But I am also in boxing and i got it through EPP so i guess i slipped through?

 

The majority of those on this site who are past build are EPP orders...

 

I think maybe Texas has priority!

 

Did they try to offer you anything to keep you from canceling?

 

I think that anyone ordering the 1330 XPS from Dell at this point should know that there will be a long delay before you actually get it, the rep I was dealing with told me 2 to 3 weeks this was when I ordered on July 23 but then the ship date was sept. 9, I called and asked him why he told me that it would be 2 to 3 weeks but is is more than 6 weeks he said that the LED screen is on backorder and they should recieve a shipment of this screen today. He said to check back on Monday for a current ETA but I am not going to hold my breath for the ETA to change to anything sooner than Sept. If a person needs to have a notebook sooner they would be better off with buying something else. It sucks but I don't think there is anything that you can do about it

 

Nope, the lady was actually very cold! I sent an email to Brad Kline, a supervisor at Dell that I talked on the phone with and by email, he works in the Texas call center. Lets just say, it wasn't very nice! lol

Review from review pub. Shows the 5.1 surround using the two headphone ports and mic port.

 

Like the others said, the MBP is not comparable. It is much bigger and is a Mac! The bigger size means it's cheaper to produce, so the value comparison goes out the window.

I am starting to think the LCD companies are just like the damn oil companies. First there is a glut and we have decent prices and the market does well because LCD are pretty cheap. Then they get greedy and slow down production until there is a shortage so they can hike the prices down the line.

Change your name to Apple2Apple, because I have not seen any PC laptop that has made me as excited to own it as the M1330.

I've already seen it here in Japan. I would say it's OK, not great...too much junk and I don't like the antenna that sticks out.

Too bad it is sooo expensive.

 

Oh, and keep in mind that Sony will not support 64 bit Vista at all...so all the random memory security that makes 64 bit vista just as good a mac is not there. Of course you could install it anyway and just take the horrific battery drain. I managed to get everything working but the fn keys and the real screen dimming. I just use a program that adjusts the gamma, brightness, and contrast.

 

Agreed. After adding Microsoft Office and a warranty it is gonna cost an arm and a leg. I'm considering that or possibly buying a cheapo used laptop to use until the m1330 comes in....

I figure I'll wait as long as I can and then walk into a Sony store and buy an SZ...
