Here's what I can advise so far from what I've seen. If you ordered early (late june early may) and you're still in pre-production, there's a SKU error that you need CS to resolve (oh, and you're screwed). That's why you haven't gone to production yet.
If you ordered later in July...well...no SKU error, still screwed.

I feel worse for Mieske than I do for the guy with the October date now because of the fact that Mieske, like a few of us, ordered back in June. It's just not right that the customers who were devoted enough to place orders so soon after its release are being screwed like this and given a new fancy September 25th date. That's a travesty.

OK, I'm getting pretty ticked off with Dell. I played a little test with them to find out if they really are lying like we suspect.
I called once and spoke to EPP Customer care:
1st representative tells me: The hinge, battery (didn't specify which one), and fingerprint reader are backordered.
I call back.
2nd representative: The screen and DVD drive is backordered.
I call back.
3rd representative: The palm rests are back ordered.

Are we seeing a problem here?
I called to try and get the Timbuk2 case for free since Dell have the BALLS to be allowing new orders and trying to entice people into the back-order queue by giving out cases, and I was told that they can not give me any case unless I cancel and re-order.
I told them that by doing so would delay my order even MORE. The rep told me that actually it would be quicker to receive my laptop if I placed a new order and cancelled the existing one. EH?
Anyway, I left my order, but I'm pretty peeved. Heck, I ordered this thing on June 27th at 8am. -

Well, mine is estimated to ship on tuesday but not in the testing stage yet. I dont think I'm gonna get it on time, which is a shame since I now have to delay my delivery since I'll be out of the country when it arrives.

I just recieved a Order Delayed for My order that was placed on 6/27...est ship of 7/29 the new ship date is 8/3

The SONY VAIO SZ6 series will be available August 1rst. My XPS is scheduled to ship 7/31 (I have ben waiting since 6/26). If I get a significant delay, I will be ordering the Sony.

well today I received my Lo Jack Cd from Dell
Crimson M1330 ordered july 16th esd aug 30th with o/n shipping.
was ordered under dell higher education epp. 12% discount.
I payed with paypal the order went right into build stage after order on the 16th and funds were withdrawn instantly.
today I also noticed the money was released back into my pp acct. I presume they released it because it hasn't shipped yet? then when it ships its taken out again?
any thoughts on whats happening here? -

OK I just called CS and spoke to a rep and here is the convo broken up by sides...
Me:
Mentioned my original phone call 3 weeks ago and the promise of a call/email ont he 23rd that I NEVER got
Mentioned the email I wrote 4 days ago! with an automated response right away and a response of "Thank you for contacting Dell's Customer Service. This message is being sent to let you know that we have received your request for assistance. We are working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to answer customer inquiries. Our email agents normally respond to inquiries within 6 hours." which was 3 days ago and I have still not gotten a response!!

Mentioned how orders placed as much as 3 weeks after me are further along/shipped. Brought up one of you (can't remember the name) who's pruchase date and est ship dates are the same as mine (June 27th, July 29th) who has now been delayed via email to Aug 3rd but I have not recieved anything

Stated that yes my order had parts that were on back order but that they got a shipment of parts in the other day, she said that she knows a lot of parts came in and looks like my order is still on track for July 29th. (she could NOT tell mewhat parts my order was missing and what came in. (I mentioned how diff reps are telling us diff shortages on parts and she responded by saying she does not get to see what specific parts unless a note has been made)
Said their online status is more accurate than their phone but both are pretty inaccurate and since it shows my order is still being worked on and on time for the July 29th est that my order is "msot likely" in testing or boxing even though my order status over the phone is "Build stage"
Supposedly Verizon is redoing their phone lines etc which was her explanation for status downtimes and status delays
I asked her to give me her name 3 times before she actually gave it, she did try talking each time so i dunno if she was ignoring me or couldn't hear me because she would talk at the same time but finally gave it to me and without pause said she would send a message down about my email that was never recieved, send a message for an order update, and sine it shows that I will still ship out on the 29th and will recieve On Tuesday the 31st she would call me perosnally on Monday July 30th.
