I just got off the phone with Dell. I was told the fingerprint reader was on backorder. (A common excuse I know). I did get my shipping upgraded to next business day and the free messenger bag
Then, I was connected to a "floor manager" where I was asked to give feedback on the customer service rep. Never had that happen before. Finally great service for once. Looks like I won't be canceling after all. Thanks Dell!

wtf i spoke to them earlier (page 111 of this thread) and i didn't get the messenger bag! i was upgraded to overnight nearly 4 weeks ago though.
I was also lucky and got a rep here in the US -

Insane. My shipping got DOWNGRADED.
I paid for overnight shipping originally. In Dell's delay email to me they say
"We have also requested an expedite on the new order and have given you free 2nd business day shipping."
I checked the order. Shipping switched from overnight to 2nd day. No price reduction.
Must be my punishment for calling Lionel an asshat. -

Now let me explain some info to you JUST IN!!! Its called the order process and I had to make sure before I came here but you are more than welcome to call any Sales Rep. They will tell you the same!!!
You call in. It could be EPP, student, regular purchase, online, or whatever. You make a purchase. Your purchase is complete and your financing approved. You then get a number, you know order number, like 9 digits (or maybe 8 stateside) but in any case... Guess what????
Your order is now set in its place in the build system with respect to how it was purchased. It doesnt matter if you got a Drake deal or anything. You are given your place in the order.
What you paid and what program means absolutely nothing. They are all herded into the pack.
Now... long before these orders were made by you shipping arrangements from Dell were already set. They go all the way to Malaysia and to Texas and so on. The shipping arrangements are set even before you make a purchase. The trick is to be lucky enough to order at the right time. So...if you can imagine, the production line, although all the orders (EPP,student) are mixed, now takes the form of destination where priority is accounted for.
The end. So...go call your corporate guy and brief him.
And laughable...is watching EVERYONE in the past few hours shoot back and watch you sputter what little you could.
Honourable is that Im mentioned and some stand up for me even when Im not here.

What can you do? Someone in Dell screwed up the delivery date...badly. And now CS and PA are left with having to try to clean up the mess. I can't imagine how much crap they're getting over this.

Its still in build mode.. so im skeptical.. its been there since 7/13 -

mine been there since 7/16 and my est. ship date is 8/1 so im very scared but then again a lot of people are getting theirs pushed back to 8/3 which makes it seem like they are expecting maybe parts or something this upcoming week to continue building and shipping out more so I might still get it around that day im hoping.
