I'm curious, can you request a specific panel maker defore/during build phase or is it luck of the draw?

I don't think they gave me the no interest for 12 months. I've got a great credit score but I don't see it on my invoice for the first one or the second one.

I'll give it a shot. Considering how they screwed up the order for the one I'm keeping it just might work.

Hey guys... just got a $50 credit from a dell chat rep for griping so I can buy a bag. The credit is applied after the m1330 ships, OF COURSE. I'm taking Kimo's advice & ordering a Sony also. I get the credit no matter which one I keep. Better than nothing at all. I'll take anything I can get since I'm so PO'd.

Wow Cliegal... i mean, what are the chances? Makes me imagine that if my original order (from 6/29 also) hadn't been canceled, it could have been right next to yours on it's way to florida... shoot. Well i'm still in boxing (since thursday)... i really hope i ship soon; tomorrow (don't know if they do that) or monday.

Please complain about this experience on the Dell's direct2dell.com blog site! The more m1330 complaints we get there, the louder we are heard!

Dang, for something as big as this issue they seem to be taking it very lightly...

This is my first experience with Dell and I'm sure lots others are the same way with the m1330 and to have this happen, bad for business for sure.

Honestly, I expect a product to arrive at my house after a month of ordering it. Logitech mouse might only take 3 weeks though ;)

Your situation is important to them (along with a million others who have been waiting longer). I doubt they told you you would receive it by Tuesday though, there has to have been some serious misunderstanding that occurred.

On the other hand I was surprisingly told last week that my order was almost ready to ship and of course I didn't believe that case manager that gave me that surprise call, but then my CSR followed up with the same news that day, and my status through the automated phone system flew through the production stages during the days after that call.

Of course all this means absolutely nothing until I finally get the notebook, so we'll see how much truth is behind it (there are stories of people stuck in boxing and even going backwards, and I was a little scared when my system was stuck in testing for a while since most people have said they were only at that stage for a few hours, but I'm at the boxing stage so things are still going forward so far).

Who knows, maybe they got their act together for those who managed to avoid some of the heavily demanded items (ie case cover color or fingerprint reader) or maybe its just some random c**p shoot. I did tell my sales representative that I would cancel my order if I did not get it in time for school and just pick up a MBP from my student store and that's a promise I intend on keeping.

And when exactly did you order to still be at the pre-production stage? If you're in the U.S. at least they don't charge you until your order ships (although they do some check to make sure you have the funds though), so if you have the money, I'd recommend you try and place another order now and cancel whichever doesn't come first. I placed 3 orders total on the M1330, the first 2 I had to cancel to reconfigure to my likings (I'm an indecisive person), and each one of those 2 immediately proceeded to the build stage (of course this is w/ the black cover which seems to be the trend in early expectancies, but I also avoided the camera and fingerprint reader which were two commodities that I would rarely if ever use at all)

I had similar thoughts. They are starting to get some bad PR on this so it is highly possible that they want the wording to be accurate and precise... (i.e. be as vague as one can get). It would prolly be even more useless information so I'm not too excited about it at all.

Yeeeeeep. They seem to be taking it lightly so I'm trying to (continue) to contact various media outlets (cNet, PCWorld, etc) and keep them informed of what the @)*# is going on here.

I'm hoping that it would speed up the current situation and prevent from this DISASTER happening again in the future.

I have a hard time breathing, i'm laughing so hard

They were very understanding for my situation as well, but they won't even guarantee me that my notebook will make it on the EDD or 2 days later MAX. Thats what i was asking for, cause i leave for a 4 week photography trip a couple of days after my EDD and i need to adhere to a deadline when handing in the pictures.

And you thought you could surpass the queue by ordering NBD

    sorry mate, enjoy the wait.
    I think its worth it.

I am not in school anymore, and I have my cool desktop for most things. The M1330 is a really nice cool toy for me mostly. So I am just gonna wait, and get some discounts hopefully. Then enjoy it all the more when it arrives.

That is a slow response time, but a lot of manufactures measure the response times in different ways so compassions are difficult. So I will just go by peoples reactions when they see it.

I do have lots of respect for the Dell President and CEO Kevin Rollins so that might keep me motiviated to receive my notebook next month.

I would think once they fix their issues (whatever they are) that they will be able to meet the demand because it's Dell, not your average PC making company...

P.S. Still trying to process all the info on this crazy situation :S

I think we should stop being so absolute about everything. No one on this forum, or who visits the sites we do has their laptops in Ausie land yet. That does not mean not even one person in the whole country has one yet. They might, somewhere, maybe.l

Cliegal...when you fast scroll a webpage does the LCD display tends to respond slow due to the 25ms response time??? Can you tell us more about the screen quality...is the video playback corrupted due to this low response times.

I thought she got the CCFL (Dell error)... so it won't be a meaningful test... but if I understood correctly, when the second machine arrives she will be able to make the direct comparison (if it is possible to have two M1330s and not be too busy playing with them to post ;-)

I thought those viewing angles were good.
But it depends how they measure it - the amount of light decreases as the angle increases. That doesn't mean all light is gone - so these measurements must represent some threshold such as 50% brightness decrease.
