The LCD in both panels is the same, the only difference is the lighting method. Thus a test of the response time will be valid with either panel.
-
If thats so, there souldn't be a difference between response times, but as you said a test would more concludent.
-
If i am rigth, the LED screen si from CMO and the CCFL is from AUO so it isn't the same LCD with different light.
Got that based on Tilemans/Cliegal service part codes. -
What we learnt from the two deliveries (tileman and cliegal) is that the LED screen is made by Chi Mei and the CCFL one by AU. Is there any evidence the LCD part of these two is the same? I am assuming they are different.
-
If I lived in NYC I would do this to my M1330 (after I get it).
http://www.adafruit.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=27 -
My mistake, I thought it used the CMO CCFL lit panel which is the same as the LED one.
The AU panels on the M1210 were quite good, I am starting to get a little worried about the response time now on the CMO. -
Yeah the 25ms response starts bugging me too...
CMO quality spells cheap for me. -
"With LED technology, manufacturers can produce thinner, lighter LCD panels which offer superior contrast and luminance," DailyTech said. "Other perks include high brightness levels, faster response times and lower power consumption than traditional CCFL LCD displays."
source: http://www.macobserver.com/article/2007/03/21.12.shtml
well...25ms doesn't sound faster for me -
Well in a way I am glad I ordered late, hopefully I will get to see what other people think before I get mine. Only problem is that here in Aus they charge you when you order. Happy to take my money before shipping the laptop, well I will be happy to get a refund if it doesn't get favourable reviews.
-
Give advice, dont preach!
-
Bloody marketing, how does a light transfer to faster response times.
-
Be carefull, they say "the worlds thinnest 13.3 inch laptop"
Thats where they get ya!
-
No worries, I know how you feel, lies here and there and everywhere!
Dell really arnt living up to their promises and im getting a bit annoyed!
-
We all need something to brighten up our day!
-
Congrats Cliegal and we're all looking for direct comparsion between CCFL and LED display now.
I hope you will find some time to make a few pictures for us.
-
YOu seem to be forgetting that for the rest of us at least, our only line of contact with Dell is our reps etc..
If we want info, they are the only people to call.
For you, maybe its different with your contacts, but us.. well we're stuck in the dark -
exactly, that sounds very stupid. The led or cathode tube is just on. The response time is how fast the transistors can switch in front of the light..
when we in a few years (hopefully) can talk about OLED screens then it is really different.. -
Well let's be cool and see what it looks like. Reviewers didn't seem to see any problem. Maybe the 25ms screen isn't the screen in the M1330, maybe it isn't the screen in all M1330s, maybe there is a typo on the spec page, maybe it was an unusually honest statistic intended for industry professionals not consumers.
By the way - in the link above it quotes:
> The power consumption for the 13.3-in display was estimated at 4 watts
for this Toshiba display. The Chi Mei one ls listed as only 1.8 watts. -
like me - i ordered in aus on the 30-Jun. still waiting patiently - thank god for this forum or i'd be going out of my mind!
-
you think it could be 13.3 inches thick?
-
ive been trolling these forums for the past 2 months so i know of what kind of wait im in for, im not a noob. Its merely that now that the status has moved from preorder to now available, i can place my order in which i save 15% on the price through my dads business. 15% is kinda something worth waiting for, but it had to be on a laptop currently available, not a preorder.
I dont expect to recieve it until septemeber like the rest of you , but ill be satisfied knowing that i have my order in place.
Specs im going for are
T7300 (2ghz)
4gb ram
LED screen
8400m
audigy software
wireless n
vista ultimate
6 - cell
this is for $2260 AUD (down from $2600)
Dell get around the legalitys of false and misleading trade by saying that the shipping is going to take a large amount of time, not the build stage. If you could PROVE that dell australia does not have the capability to produce M1330's, you could file for false and misleading trade under 7.4 of the australian trade practices act, not that anyone could be bothered over a laptop lolz. They are pretty sneaky.
anyways, i plan to join the rest of you with the 'constantly checking order status' disease -
Yer and it's spreading...
The cure is of course for your 1330 to arrive on time, so none of us are gonna get the cure for some years to come..
Wonder what the vacination is to prevent it? -
Hey, its only 10 days till mine comes.. Its been a long 26 days on this form people!
-
No update on Direct2HellDell...come on...its not hard to lie us poor customers with some info(letters shortage on the blog..someting)
...tell us anything
-
hey pieman314 your delivery date is still unchanged (as mine 10th of August), maybe the guys who have these delays is because of some fancy options...
-
haha its like the worlds thinnest at the front ... id like to see a comparison with the macbook and sony sz at the rear...
-
Thats possible, but mine was changed 3 times from 20th July to 25Th july to 8Th August (ordered on 27th June originally, but had to change the CPUcos dell messed up again
-
Yer "The worlds thinnest 13.3 inch (at the front)"
And "The worlds fattest 13.3 inch (at the back)" -
Sorry but I won't be able to help you with comparison pictures until my replacement comes in for the CCFL. This one is another order entirely, sort of ordered by mistake and I am going to sell it immediately without opening the box.
It sure gives me hope that there are alot of 1330's being shipped and maybe I'll get my own, correct 1330 sooner than the month or so the service tech thought it would take. -
Who likes the new sig pic (look closely, theres 2 changes)
-
Most delayed

when I ordered mine the 9th of July, the rep promised I'll get it the 10th and it still is the same, maybe the German Dell guys gives more accurate delivery dates
-
Orderdate: 2007-07-03
previous estimated shipping date: 2007-07-26
Estimated shippingdate: 2007-08-20
This is not funny any more
-
I wonder where do you live? Because here in Germany there are telling us that there are some problems with the 2.4 processor with the graphic card and its not possible to order it. Then how come that you could get it? Plus the problems should be on the whole laptops..
-
You got the T7700???...hmmm -
lol keep dreaming. Might be better to write "Hey, its only another 8 days unitl my EDD jumps forward another month"
Im getting the T7700 as well. -
It was available as an option when i ordered, i'll run some benchmarks and temp test when i receive it. I know there are 1 or 2 others who ordered a t7700 from US too.
-
Mine has also shipped! 3-5 day shipping though (I should have upgraded)
Estimated delivery: Middle of the week or Friday...
anyway 1 week ahead of schedule -
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
Congrats to fellow shipped status Customers.. We are a pretty exclusive club right now..
Although it seems to be picking up.. Monkhi would prolly join the even more exclusive owners' club a day before me, though.. -
Yeah, I actually think that world's thinnest 13.3" might be true, but kinda irrelevant. I mean, if you want thin, go with the MacBook Pro. It's 1/4" thinner in the back.
I think the wedge is funny. It's like some one in marketing thought "what if we make one edge super thin and just say the whole thing is thin?" Well, if the m1330 stops working, we all know it will make a better doorstop than all those non-wedge laptops.
-
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
A 2000$ doorstep.. You are one pampered guy...
-
I think the wedge is a great idea. I always prop the back end of my laptop up to have a better typing angle. I hate it when the keyboard sits parallel to the desk, forcing me to adopt some funky writing angles at times.
-
wooo! pretty soon I'll be able to play world of warcraft again.... (loaning work computer, Lenovo T43 Garbage)
I'm going to have to get a bluetooth mouse and solid mouse pad.... -
I ordered two 9 cell batteries just cuz I like the idea of it being elevated to allow more air to flow underneath. I'm kinda worried about how it will fit in my backpack. I've got one of those laptop backpacks with a padded slot closest to the wearer. If this thing is not even in shape, I wonder how the applied pressure will be distributed across the laptop, or the wearer for that matter.
If it's too much of a problem, then I will try to find out if I can return one of the 9 cells for a 6 cell. I don't like the idea of needing to put the battery in every time I take the laptop out of the backpack and then taking the battery out when putting the laptop back in. -
9 cell will fit fine in your bag. It's not that much bigger
-
I know it will fit. What I'm worried about is the stress applied to it. I mean, imagine if the only two points of contact between the laptop and the wearer are the front edge and the 9 cell battery. Then apply several pounds of books on top of that. I need to be able to carry this thing around at school with me.
The reason why I worry if that my current laptop's screen got damaged cuz of this. The panel was flexible enough that when pressure was applied to it, discolorations began to form. If the screen is rigid enough, then the laptop is safe. Only problem would be that it would be a little less comfortable than having something flat being pressed against my back. -
Why wont Dell just tell me its delayed?!?! Unless they plan to finish building, testing and boxing today, and shipping my order tomorrow. Damn you, Dell! You give a ridiculous five-weeks-later estimate, and still cant manage to deliver on it.
-
Good catch and good point. Gonna rep ya for that...
I think I also got the motto wrong -- you fixed it nicely in your sig. "Yours is not here." Mine is not here either, though by the time I ordered they had become wise enough to give a September ESD... -
Same thing happen to me, suppose to ship 2 days ago. Checked yesterday, and it got bumped to 8/3. So it probably going to happen to you too. Very disappointed that they wait till the last day to inform us it will be delayed, very unprofessional.
Good thing is I go and yell at the CSR and they said they will refund $100 when the machine is shipped and will order a timbuk2 bag after the order is shipped. I don't trust them anymore, so we will see if they will honor this or not. I just want my laptop bad.
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
