Options that Impact XPS M1330 Ship Date
Below are the available options that could delay the ship date of your XPS M1330. Of any options that you have selected, the one with the longest delay time will impact the ship date. Option delays are not cumulative; selecting two options with four-day delay times will only delay your ship date by four days, not eight.

85Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell) 1 days
4 cell Primary Battery and 9 cell additional Lithium Ion Battery 1 days
9 cell Primary Battery and 9 cell additional Lithium Ion Battery 1 days

What would suck would be if Dell decided to ship all their m1330 orders for a certain month on one plane/ship, and then for that plane/ship to crash/sink.

News reporter: "A cargo plane carrying only Dell m1330's crashed today in the pacific ocean, fortunately the pilots were able to make an emergency water landing and got out while the plane sunk, no one was seriously injured and they were soon picked up by helicopter. Then entire load of m1330's was lost"

    Notebook Review Forums: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

I remember that happened to Mazda recently. I had recently bought my Mazda3 SP23 and I saw in the news that a cargo ship carrying thousends of Mazda3's sunk or ran aground, and they lost the whole shipment. I remember thinking how sad I would have been if I had ordered my Mazda3 and was waiting for it to come of the ship!

You SOB! Now when I turn it on it's going to be like I am gangster marked for death, and I am starting up my car!

I am gonna hold my breath slowly extend my finger to the power button. Shield my face from the impending explosion with my other hand, and push it! BOOOM

What would be even more scary would be if it did not go boom, and made that damn Mac startup sound. I would be like NOOOOOOOO I ordered a PC not a MAC!.

I just talked to a Dell Sales rep. I was able to get a few things out of him. Firstly, he gladly expedited my order by upgrading my shipping to next day.

Secondly, he gave me some information as to why my notebook takes over a month to ship. I didn't low-ball myself on this laptop and got all high end parts, but I don't think I will regret waiting a week or two more for them.

Apparently, the DVD drive and LED screen w/ VGA camera are the parts that are holding up my particular notebook. Also, LoJack and my carrying case are apparently delaying it...not so sure as to why. I would gladly take my notebook a month before as opposed to having all three of those things shipped together. I will just sleep with it in my hands in order to offset the not having LoJack. :-\

    Here are my notebook stats:

It is. That is why I said that I didn't know as to why that would hold it up. The LoJack is actually on one of three orders. I think he just told me that because that is the information that he received. I do not forsee the LoJack or carrying case delaying my order.

    My orders consist of:
    1) XPS M1330
    2) LoJack and travel surge protector
    3) Dell carrying case

Hate to break any bubbles...but there apparently is no next day shipping available...

I could be wrong ...but remember hearing that due to the backup all orders are being treated and charged on shipment as ground.

Ordered yesterday and it says it will ship Aug 17. I had no idea about the wait because the rep said it would take ten days and that other customers got theirs in ten days, which is clearly false!

Oh, one thing to consider (though clearly this guy wasn't a good source of information) was he said that paying extra for faster shipping wouldn't actually change the estimated arrival date. I don't know what the logic is here, but you might want to look into it before you pay the extra $!

It isn't currently offered on the M1330, but may be a configuration option in the future. The important thing is that the M1330 does support Intel Turbo Memory, so if you want to add it in the future (hopefully after Intel and MS get the technology working correctly), you can.

Amazon.com was selling the 1GB Intel Turbo Memory card for around $29 a month ago, which is much cheaper than most laptop distributors sell it when configuring a new laptop (usually they charge around $40).

wrong, there is an Integrated Flash Cache Module in XPS m1330 and Inspirons (even into any SantaRosa Platform) which improves performance for starting up from hibernation and improves accessing time and it requires Windows Vista.

Are you sure because the manual clearly shows the Turbo Memory module going into the WWAN expansion slot, and calls it an option.

i think and there is no proof for this at this time and here is the link FCM for M4300 and it must work on xps m1330 so I think there is less than 1 GB factory installed !
    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=biz&cs=555&sku=311-7373
    From manual:
so no order for it until now and no option into dell so I am thinking it's already Integrated.

    what do u think?

Now that can't be right.. The ITM module is a standard mini-PCI slot hardware.. And the XPS or the inspirons don't make any mention of it... where did you find that information?

Actually, I'm sorry to say it is you who is incorrect. Intel Turbo Memory is optional on the Santa Rosa platform, as illustrated by the fact that HP and Sony have both declined to equip any of their Santa Rosa notebooks with ITM, due to lack of noticeable performance improvement.

The M1330 Owner's Manual clearly shows the "Flash Cache Module" as an optional mini-card that takes the place of the WWAN card. It would have to be an option during configuration or else someone ordering a Broadband Mobile card would automatically lose the Flash Cache Module (ITM) without knowing it.

The main thing to pay attention to is this part of your quote from the manual:
Since Dell is not currently giving the option to order a Flash Cache Module during configuration, it will not come installed on the M1330.
