Dell can't tell us a decent lie...even my dog didn't buy that![]()

edit: got rid of your quote, your welcome.
I know you are really excited about this, and im really sorry, but no one gives a ****. YOu are one of the most annoying posters here -
Just Repp'd you for that...Well said. I know trust me.
-
Yawn . It's just a laptop !
Why do you keep calling me out ? Quoted now so you can't erase it
Please stop trolling me
-
Anyone for chat?
-
Can we start another issue related discussion then? And I wondered about this because of the availability of Cleigals second laptop expected in a day or so...
Does anyone think there will be a supply and demand type thing where people will pay more than the actual value just to get their hands on a real system and avoid the 'Order and wait' process; this similar to PS3's and the iphone... -
i'm in......
-
When I hooked my 1330 up to the TV to test the HDMI for audio output I could see the battery level going down as I was playing a dvd. Granted, I was using full brightness but I seriously doubt it would have lasted even 1.5 hours on the 6 cell. I'm sure others will do more scientific tests than I have time to do but using HDMI out with nothing else running but WMC it was sucking the heck out of the battery.
-
I AGREE THIS IDIOT FLAMENKO is a big troll and is too much stressed its just a laptop so stop telling us your life and stop OFF SUBJECT flamenko you boring us!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP YOUR INFANTILE STUUF ITS ONE ADULT FORUM and he act like one 6 year old kid damm it
i hate him is ruining this thread -
cliegal, does the HDMI output DD/DTS sound?
-
posts like this are why there are over 6000 posts in this thread.
On a side note, cliegal, since you are here, do you know how long ur laptop was in boxing? -
Both were in boxing for 2 days before they changed to shipped.
-
I mean, we need to stay on topic to a degree, but the odd moan and bit of fun is cool, cos we dont want 6000 posts of:
Im in boxing,
im in testing,
im in build.... etc -
eh, a couple flames sent flamenkos way were warranted, but this guys post (slk's) made me feel like i was getting yelled at by a 12 year old. kinda juvenile/unneeded...
lmao at slk's edit...look in the mirror buddy. -
Ordered 7/28 and it's now in production. YaY!
Still ESD is 9/06... ah crap...
I too hope the date moves up a couple weeks when things get going but guess I'll be here pretty much each day
-
Sorry to bust your bubble but "in-production" means nothing. I've been in production for ... 2-3 weeks!
-
Sorry there, if your saying i was yelling at you. That was not the intention, i just wanted to cool things down in a rational way.
No shouting or pointing the finger anywhere.
Sorry if that was the impression
Anymore into boxing lately? -
Hmm... bubble has been busted...
Good thing is it took less than 24 hours to change
Can't burst that bubble! -
I'm not sure the demand's there yet. Plus, if what Dell's saying is true, there's just a long initial lead time due to the fact that large scale production hasn't started yet. But that's due to begin this next week so I'd imagine most orders that have mid August ESDs and beyond will get their laptops earlier than expected.
Still, doesn't really help people who ordered early and thus were expecting it to ship earlier than early/mid August. -
lol, thats nothing,
ive been in pre-production for just about a month and now theyre saying it maybe now in build, but they dont know. Waste of time calling up anymore! -
it could be worse you could have ordered 6/28
-
can someone answer a question with respect to a rumour around the site, maybe someone who has a Unit...
I keep hearing that, somehow, the M1330 can utilize all 4Gb ram if thats whats installed vice only 3.25Gb like others.
Im curious as i was under the impression the maximum was set by the software (Vista)
Thoughts?
oh and... In Canada it appears that you are thrown into production after your financing/precredit check/credit card pre-auth has been approved....isnt that the same elsewhere?? -
I'm not home so I can't give you the exact number however mine is showing 3.5xx instead of the usual 3.25 with 4 gigs. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the higher number.
-
The memory addressable by a 32 bit OS has nothing to do with the machine as far as I know. Should be the same around 3.3GB.
EDIT: Okay, maybe I should qualify my statement a bit. The amount of memory that is not addressable depends on the amount of addresses that are needed for devices and so forth. However, outside of PAE extensions, you won't be able to address anywhere near 4GB of RAM. As well, the problem apparently has nothing to do with the OS but the x86 architecture. -
It's more. See my post above yours. -
Where in Vista can she go to find exactly??? For example, when you go to system config, Im sure your going to see 4Gb or also in your setup screen.
But... can she be quoting 3.5 avail after memory has been allocated which would lay belief in the fact that all 4Gb is utilized??
And next....if anyone heres about another phenomenal 4Gb deal like Fry's had can they post it here?? -
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
A 32 bit system can address 4GB of memory space. It does not mean it can address 4GB of RAM. Quite a bit of that memory space is reserved by other devices, including VRAM, addressing memory, and lots else. There's lots on this topic on the net.. Just google it... The 3.2/3.5 figures don't mean anything- It'll vary from system to system.
This question is getting too repetitive.. -
I think he's funny
-
Wow...Tx Chrissy...
With respect to the RAM then, does this MS article become the cure to the problem??
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929580/en-us
So...enabling PAE mode would correctly address the problem? -
Not exactly. I believe applications have to be written with support for virtual addressing.
-
Then.... dos this mean that, with the 128mb dedicated memory in the 8400m card, that would then mean that 128mb of the SDRAM would be in essence ,nullified' and not used because only the 4Gb can be counted for as a total??
-
Somewhat. Some other addressing space is used by devices to communicate with the system.
The traditionnal way to communicate and control peripherals with Intel processors is write to "ports", however it's rather slow so many devices map those ports to the memory address space and the CPU can just write/read to those address instead. -
Did anyone who placed an EPP order receive any money off or a free shipping upgrade after you ordered for having to wait?
-
free overnite shipping although it still doesn't show on the status page
-
Free shipping upgrade... but no money off.
-
i ordered epp, and after talking thru chat and email my status says im set up for next business day, but we'll see how that goes...
-
Order Date: 7/12/2007
Order Status: In Production
Shipping Method: 3-5 Business Days
Est. Ship Date: 8/29/2007
Est. Delivery Date: 9/3/2007-9/5/2007 -
free overnight (it seems as though they're handing it out like candy)
-
Ya, if you don't have free next business day delivery yet, you're too patient...
Not difficult to get after a couple minutes of haggling. -
I didn't even haggle- they called me notifying me that my shipping was upgraded for free for waiting
-
I still don't have next day shipping. I just don't know how to get them to give it for free.
-
After processing the order over the phone, she told me it would be shipped August 31st or something and I told her I needed it ASAP then I hung up... She called back 5 minutes later offering free next day shipping.
Plus, I had done a order online and when doing the order over the phone with the things I wanted, she kept getting a price 200 more than I showed. Just stuck with it for a couple of minutes then she offered me the stuff she put in her computer and matched my price so I got a "Special Offer - $200 off."
Not a huge fan of haggling but with all the problems going on, probably could have gotten more stuff. All I could get off with haggling plus the free bag that comes with it ($149 value), I guess I should just stick with the m1330 and not get a Vaio. -
Next day shipping does not matter and will not get your laptop any faster so why bother ?
-
Makes me feel special
-
Glad to see that the Direct2Dell blog site approved lots of new comments on the latest posting. Although, lots of 'em, if not all of 'em, are repeats of the ones from the previous posting.
That makes a lot of sense, since Dell itself has been blowing a lot of garbarge our way. -
Huh? Last time I checked DHL & FedX both had next day and 2 day plus (FedX even has ground in all 50 states... how the hell do they drive those trucks accross the ocean to Hawaii).
If you mean it won't leave the factory any sooner I agree... but it will get to you faster once it ships and that does matter (at least to me).
Call your CSR (I know HCW hates that)) but tell them politely that they missed your date or you need it by the promised date and you should have no problem.
BTW Flamenko you forgot the "way, way, way, way back" and "EPP orders will be last" but whose counting. -
Do I really need to explain that to you again ? How long have you been an internet troll ?
-
Explain what? If what Dell's saying is true, your comments that there's only going to be trickle for the next two weeks will be completely wrong. We'll see if Dell can hold that promise this time.
