I'm guessing you're in the UK or Asia? It seems like you guys may not get the last laugh after all. It seems like your estimated ship dates were just waaayyy too optimistic. :p

ah yeah that was a typo, fixed now :D
Unfortunately yes, they were a little too optimistic. I received an e-mail yesterday informing me of the potential delay. Ordered from Dell in New Zealand (Asia/Pacific).

This is often the case with NZ though, a lot of stuff we have to wait an additional 6 months for so I can't really complain.

Here in the US, Dell almost always overstates their ship date. It usually ends up being sooner than what they estimate.

Well, I ordered mine yesterday...and I had NO CLUE! it was such a long delay to get these!

I had just purchased an extended warranty on my Inspiron 9300 and decided to cancel it and just buy a new laptop since mobility has become a priority.

The 12'' xps wasnt all that fancy looking so I decided to get this one and now I wont even get it until after school starts in the middle of August (hopefully)....and to top it off...vista FTMFL haha

    either way...
    order date: 7/11
    est ship: 8/14
    delivery: 8/17-8/21

Is everyone having luck by calling in and "complaining" to get next business day shipping?

No that is NOT the LED screen. That is the standard screen, with no camera. That will ship sooner, but you are missing out on the cool stuff. That is the one that is not back ordered, and the camera is back ordered. So I wonder if that was an honest mistake, or if they have been told to push the reg screen with no camera...

For some reason mine says pre-prod in one status page and in prod on another. How can I get that to reconcile? Still 8/22 here. Though I was upgraded to NBD when I emailed for information. Somehow my customer number is tied to Small Biz support even though I ordered off the Home and Home Office site. I think it was from my days when I had a premier.support.dell.com acc't created in my name for support reasons...

Hmmm I wonder if she is hot.

Most of that e-mail is pure boiler plate. It looks like they just type in their real response at the end of it. I got the same e-mail except I got $200 off of my system, because I ordered several things at the same time, and every single item has over a 30 day wait.

yeah I'm mad, Im going to call them tomorrow and get it straightend out, because I didnt pay 150 for the LED one to not get it haha. I just hope it doesnt change the ship date.

geez this is like when I ordered my 9300 a couple of years ago, except then it wasnt that long of a wait, it was the fact that it was my first laptop and I was going nuts waiting for it..now I want this one right now!

Has anyone even gotten one yet?

If your initial invoice says the LED, XPS support will initiate an exchange...simple.

If not and you really want the LED, you have 21 days to return the system under the Total Satisfaction Program. I have done this last year. Simply call and ask for the Total Satisfaction dept and they initiate the return for you. If you have a printer they will even send the mailing slips to you to affix to the box. I got 100 percent back; Im not sure if its diff in the States than Canada but I think part of the program is the 100% back guarantee.

I also dont think this applies to business purchases.

HEADSUP!!! If you paid for it, the best thing is to accept then initiate the exchange with XPS support. Its simple. You keep that system while they make u a new one. If you change the display, they cancel and reorder and your back of the bus in line.

Woah. I just did a random check on the status page and it seems like my M1330 went into production. What used to say pre-production now says it's in production...

Anyone else in Canada have their status updated yet?

Mine says production but I believe it's.. always said it's in production. I think at best, they jsut renamed their phases. Click on the link that = the word production, and it pops up a list of phases.. of which Pre-Production is not one.

If you link your order to your account and go to this page ...

    https://membership.dell.com/myaccount/main.aspx

... you should see the exact status of your production. Or you can call the automated ordering status system and get the exact status.

I just checked the status of my order via the Dell telephone system and it now says that my order is in the "Build" Stage." However, they have not updated my estimated ship date of July 30. I live in the US and I ordered the morning of June 26. Hopefully it comes sometime next week.

In my Dell account homepage, it says that the order system is currently under maintenance. If I manually enter my order number and zip code, it says that it is "In-production," but it has said that for a while. From my experience with Dell, the telephone system is usually more accurate anyways. Hopefully my m1330 is really being built.

    lol...

I got the exact same answer when I called, altough my ETA is July 20th (we don't have an est. shipping date at Dell.nl/status, only an ETA). They told me that IF my order was going to be delayed, we could talk about something ie. Vista-upgrade, CPU-upgrade because I was whining all the time I needed to have it by 07/20 (which was BS)

I really hope it doesn't get here by 07/20 now so I get an upgrade on my hardware :D
