Dell used to have a status window that showed what build stage the computer is in (ie.. kitting, testing) What happened to that? That was much more helpful. Just listing "In Production" doesn't tell very much.
-
They removed it from the US site. But you can still call 1800-433-9014 and get the same detailed status that used to be on the website. -
give it a few days guys
-
cool, i just thought its interesting because ive been officially updated from pre-build to build stage since last monday or tuesday I think.., and i have next day shipping which ships on weekend too. not that I want to burst anyones bubbles, I still have not recieved mine yet
its been 7-8 days since mine went into production, so the production stage seems like its pretty long hehe

Hmm....SO I (re)ordered on Friday and according to the phone status check.
...I am in the build stage? -
-
I ordered on July 13th. Online, it says my order is in production, but when I called to check the order status over the phone, it says that my order is "in production and currently in the build stage", but it still says that the ship date is 8/30. I called 3x to make sure that I hadn't entered the wrong order number, lol. Which would most likely be correct, the online status or phone status?? So are you all saying that they won't update the ship date over the phone, because if it takes them a month and a half to build it and ship, I will so angry.
-
did anyone's drake order get through to the "in production" yet?!?
-
We have already agreed to the late date they gave us in the start, so all they can do now is beat the date by 2 weeks and make me feel happy.
Also, many people have posted saying that on previous Dell orders the est. ship date never changed until their order actually shipped. I will keep a close eye on it and let you know if this is true or not. But I think it is true. -
i remember back in the days from the old site, the build stage is divided into,
kitting - getting the parts together
building - building the laptop
testing - running tests
boxing - packing and shipping to the US (i think this stage end when it arrives on US soil)
i dont know if its still the same way now, but we could be just stucked in the kitting sub-stage waiting for parts? i just think that if "in-production" means they already got the parts together, then I should have gotten my laptop already.
i dont know, just wondering thats all. -
I feel sorry for the worker who are just like "Oh **** look at all those screens just came in, this is gonna be a fun week."

woa, i ordered on sat on today mine is in the build stage
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT -
I wonder if they pushed us to build because Sony posted the new Santa Rosa SZ to their business site today...haha just a little conspiracy theory. The specs on that new laptop look pretty sick. Integrated 3100 graphics and the 8400M GS!

Strangeeeeee.... Mine says the same thing.

I don't think that can be attributed to the Sony SZ release - it looks like SZ does not look significantly better than the M1330. The main advantage of that SZ seems to be (I suspect) better battery life with the Hybrid graphics and now hybrid hard disk offering, and slightly better connectivity (Gigabit ethernet and a modem) which can be set against lack of HDMI port. The things that would have made the SZ very tempting (greater screen resolution, faster graphics card) are not there. This in no way makes me regret my M1330 order.

I am in the Build Stage according the phone status number, ordered 6/29 with university discounts!!!
T7300
LED w/ camera
2GB
8400GS -
I am still skeptical. I wonder if they got a big ass shipment in and are filling orders or if this new "Build Stage" is just a new name for "waiting for parts"

I ordered 7/3/2007 and my order also went into the build stage today.
Looks like everyone has though... -
Not everyone ... like trebuin ... poor solider.
My order status on the "My Account" page disappeared tho... :-(
... so it looks like phone checks for me. -
-
Ive been in the "In Production" Stage since July 11th, although im in Canada.
I have LED with camera, T7300, 2GB, 8400GS. I still think its just another way to show preproduction. -
-
T7300, Black, LED, 2G, 8400M, 120G, 4+9 Cells, what else?....
-
Thats the important stuff....Hmm I wonder how you got left out of the mix then
-
Phone says build stage.
-
it might help to call and check the order status because it may be different from what it says online
-
"in production" is a vague term... I HATE Dell for doing this and confusing everyone.
-
Just called the # to check the status of my XPS 1330, was ordered 6/27 - over the phone. Friday it was still listed as pre-production, today it was listed as production - build stage. (ship day on the email is Aug 1st) hoping to get it sooner.
