better get a norton/symantec or kaspersky antivirus
-
I'll have to see what McAfee does when I am working with software development tools... anyone have any experience with it? -

Norton is the devil, one of the fun things I learned about it is if it comes pre-installed, sometimes anyone who makes a user profile afterwards doesn't have the privileges to uninstall parts of it, replacing it with avg has been less than fun.
I have nothing but praise for AVG Free though, as said earlier, it updates regularly, isn't a resource hog, and so far has prevented all the viruses/worms I've ever encountered from taking hold. Also, it does have an outlook plugin, but you have to enable it from the options. -
I have a question regarding the payment on M1330. What does it mean by payment processed date? If I use a visa card does that mean the date that the money is charged? Or does it mean that they checked to see if I have the credibility of paying for it?
-
well I say check out your statement online, you can find out which one it is real quick

I'm glad I don't have to deal with the dell bloatware. As much as it's gonna hurt to not be able to immediately play with my laptop, the first thing I'm doing is installing my copy of Vista Ultimate and wiping whatever filth comes by default on my laptop.

I have used McAfee (VirusScan/Firewall) when using Visual Studio 2005 Pro, and not had any issues (performance or otherwise). I was pissed off a while back when McAfee first pushed out their latest version of Security Center. It was one heck of a resource hog, but they seemed to get it up to speed pretty soon after.

I'd prefer NOD32 or Kaspersky.
They both worked far better than Norton or McAfee imo.
Low Resource Usage, Fast Scans, Quick Detections, and they gave me no troubles from what I've seen. -
I'll try out Kaspersky and NOD32 once my trial of McAfee finishes. Thanks!
Apologies on deviating from the thread's true purpose on figuring out the ship date for the m1330. -
The best part about Kaspersky - you can get it for free with so many after rebate deals floating around
-
but of course
thats with all software -
go away, pirate
-
In China the date may be written 2007.07.17 followed by the time. I think the ISO standardised on a similar system. And it has the advantage that dates sort correctly when sorted on computers alphabetically. -

Any how, still pre-production
-
I don't think the status updates until 9 AM ish... I remember checking yesterday @ 8 AM...and was in pre-production... but @ 11 AM... I was in build....
... atleast for us folks in the US. -
Sooooo, what you're saying is don't call every 15 minutes? jk
-
what i hate the most is after you put in your order number and she sayd one moment she says "ok I have some important information for you to write down" how the hell is my ship date and production stage important enough to write down? especially since it never changes!!! hate it and i have to hear it 4+ times a day....
-
Mine's just went to boxing stage. Hopefully I will get it by the end of the week. I had my order expedited.
-
-
Mine is still in pre-production...ARGH! I should sue for inhuman suffering due to this wait!
-
-
-
Oooohhhh, well that's definitely an improvement. First I've heard of anyone getting to the boxing stage.
-
w0w boxing stage!!!
I would cry if mine went into building stage...
-
I bet that I don't see boxing stage untill September LOL
-
HCW: if you got in on the original drake deal, September won't be far off SDer
-

Could everyone just add their laptop specs, order date and current order status to their signatures? It would make life a lot easier.
-
My specs:
t7100
2 GB RAM
160 GB @ 7200 RPM
NVidia 8400 GS
Bluetooth
Fingerprint Reader
Slim + Light LED-LCD
SoundBlaster Audigy
Intel 3945 Wireless
6-Cell Battery (56 WHr)
Status: In Production - Build Phase
Order Date: July 12, 2007
Estimated Ship Date - September 6, 2007
Estimated Delivery Date - September 12th, 2007 -

Ordered yesterday and I think I'll finally stop modifying my order.
Why are some people getting pre-production as their order status? I have edited my order 4 times (ordered, then canceled, then re-ordered), and every single time I get "In production" within a minute after placing my order. I was curious as to whether you guys actually got "in production" and then it backtracked at a later time to "pre-production"?
( is there any reason why my signature won't come up? When I go back to edit my signature, the information is there, but it won't show up in my posts. Here's what it should say:
XPS M1330 Tuxedo Black
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7300
1GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
LED without Camera
128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
6 cell battery
Ordered July 16; Est ship date: Sept 6
Status: In production) -
Everyone band together and ship their old boxes they have in the attic or basement or even at work! Send them all to dell!!!!
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
