    LOL, good one.

Does anyone believe that if an order was made on, say, July 16th, that the estimated ship date is way out in September?

Pre-production is a detailed status... if you call 1-800-433-9014... you will hear the exact status of your order (or if you look under Recent Orders on the My Account page). In production is a vague term encompassing Pre-Production, Build, Boxing, etc. stages.

Maybe this is all just a conspiracy by Dell to generate more buzz for the m1330... I'm betting that the orders that are estimated to ship by the end of August or early September really will be shipped out by late July or early August.

Wishful thinking, I know. But a guy can dream, eh?

I just called and my current status is the build stage

 I ordered it just yesterday though... could this information just be misleading considering that people who have ordered earlier are still in the pre-production stage? Or could it possibly be because I avoided the free webcam and 9-cell battery (wishful thinking)?

Anyways, my ETA isn't until September 6 so I guess they're just fooling with me.

Maybe they're fooling everyone... or maybe it's true. I'm not sure yet... we will see. It seems like everyone that is ordering NOW is going right to build stage.... but if that is the case, then I don't know why some folks are stuck on pre-production. Doesn't make any sense at all!!!

We heard about one person going into boxing. I guess we will wait and see how many people go into boxing tomorrow.

My systems went into 'In Production" yesterday on "My Orders" then I checked this morning and they went into "In Production" in the status page, the delivery date of one of them changing to this Friday...wouldnt that be nice???

Dell cannot be trusted in the shipping date / estimated delivery date quotes. Its so far off   :( . If you call the automated order status number it might at least tell you your not in pre-production. The number is: (800) 433-9014.

    Hoping for some good news...

True, it will when most get the laptop. But for people who's order is scheduled for September, it is a long ways off.

I think Dell might be delaying all those Drake orders deliberately to make them a worse deal.... A month from now the Sony SZ will be out, a lot more difficult to get buyers.. why not hold back on the Drake orders until then... Cheaper processors from Intel, a month and a half of computer age.. that's a long time.. an awesome deal now is a decent deal in a month and a half...

Arghhh... thats too bad. I have a different part # for the screen:

320-5583 13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA TL WLED Backlit LCD with Camera, XPS M1330

If you change up your order, it will definitely add 15 or so days to the lead time.

that's why people need to ask Dell to send them the confirmation email before they end the phone call with Dell. That's what I did and noticed they left out my figerprint reader even though they said they added it. This way you get to look over the components they added in case they didn't add what you wanted or added the wrong thing. You also get to correct it right then instead of having to call later after you figure out they made a mistake and have to deal with canceling, reordering and having your ship date pushed back farther.

    JUST A SUGGESTION

See I had the same problem, on my original order they gave me the CCFL screen and wireless N card, when I changed it they still tried to give me the N card, both were over the phone. Seems odd so many people have said the same thing about them confirming the order over the phone but the confirmation is wrong.

the dell rep that is monitoring my order just told me that he has all the parts to my order except for the hinge connecting the screen and the keyboard....he said blah blah blah not to worry that is the only item on backorder and we should have your computer ready shortly......

btw i didnt get the LED screen so yeah........quoted ship date was 8/15.....currently in build stage......

correct me if im wrong but doesnt build stage mean they have all the parts......how can it be in build stage if its obviously missing a hinge......sorry to say this but being in build stage prolly doesnt mean much at all......

Does anyones order status in the states say "build" while logged onto your account? Or does it just say "in production" and "build" when you call?

the US site doesnt show any more detail than "in production"......i think someone said the canadian site shows the more detailed information.......ppl only find out by calling in and hearing the lady tell them the current status......

and yeah the build stage is a bunch of crap because there is no way some ppl who ordered like 2 days ago have all the parts already whereas others who ordered late june are still in pre-production......im pretty convinced dell just moved a chunk of ppl into build just to shut them up after hearing all the complaints on forums and such........my rep definetely said that my order was in the build stage but the hinge was on backorder.......doesnt make any sense.....

Us Canucks only get the "In Production" level and I dont know of
any Cdns getting any more detailed info such as the "build" and "testing" stages.

    I could be wrong.
