closeout sleeves...does anyone think the 12" or the 14" would fit the 1330?

I have one of their backpacks, its amazing in terms of quality, so I really want to stay with that brand

EDIT: Im looking at the vyper xs or xm models

They are fantastic bags as I had one for my M1210 before my dog chewed it up for some reason. Im lucky the laptop wasnt in it I guess...or maybe not with all the service Ive had on it.

Would love to know if one fits the m1330 but the 14" XM is discontinued.

I am also looking for backpacks/protection for my m1330.... but I haven't found THE ONE yet. TIMBUK2 bags look niceeeeee... but are WAY too expensive. I prefer a backpack too...

Goto the tech specs on Dell's site. It looks like the 14" is nearly perfect. But they are not shipping anymore.

For 4.99 I would have ordered a few if I they had them.

Ok, now I might be mad. Monday I called the automatic order status # and it said my XPS 1330 was in the build stage. Today I called and it said Pre-production and wouldn't even ship till Aug 15th. Not good.

    Time to complain

*EDIT* Ok Crisis averted, I think I mistyped my order #, someone with one really close to mine is still in pre-production.

    I'm worried now...

A person from Dell left me a voice message about my order. He didn't say what was going down with my order, just a phone number to reach him at. I tried dialing it twice to no avail.

Has my order been *gulp* cancelled?

I had a chat with one Dell representative and she said that the ship date is a conservative estimate, and that most likely it will go out earlier than that. She did not say by how much earlier though...

woah, 33 days just for the led-lcd. the max time to build is based on the item with the longest lead time, correct? just having this option adds a considerable amount of time to the build.

For all of us waiting.. here is a bit of entertainment from my conversation with a not very informed dell representative.

55:46 PM Deepa Balakrishnan Thank you for staying online. I appreciate your patience.
2:55:51 PM Deepa Balakrishnan Brad, I have checked the records for you.
2:56:16 PM Deepa Balakrishnan The estimated ship day of the order is 8/28/2007. The estimated date of delivery is 8/29/2007.
2:56:26 PM Deepa Balakrishnan For those customers who place an order, you were quoted a ship date in August (~30 working days). You should check the status of your order again over the next week, because we are now officially shipping XPS M1330 notebooks, configured by our customers, from our factories.
2:56:31 PM Deepa Balakrishnan With shipments heading out, our order system can now calculate a more targeted expected ship date for every order placed. Once we ramp up, expected ship dates will be updated regularly, so keep checking back on www.dell.com, under "My Order Status" (upper right corner of www.dell.com.) Have your Order Number and a 2nd form of verification, like zip code, handy.
2:57:36 PM Deepa Balakrishnan Brad, I will be following up with the status of the order and will keep you informed.
2:57:49 PM Brad lol... you copy and pasted that..
2:57:53 PM Brad i thought i read that somewhere
2:57:59 PM Brad its off the direct2dell site
    2:58:02 PM Brad haha
2:58:21 PM Brad well can you tell me this
    2:58:31 PM Deepa Balakrishnan Sure.
2:58:41 PM Brad how long does the build stage take?
2:58:54 PM Brad and does that mean all of the parts are together for your notebook
2:59:19 PM Deepa Balakrishnan Brad, The estimated ship date assigned to the order depends upon the availability of product and the time that manufactures will need to build and ship the order.
2:59:51 PM Deepa Balakrishnan Brad, as of now any parts are not backordered,
    3:00:03 PM Brad you promise
3:00:30 PM Deepa Balakrishnan As per the records, there are no backordered items.
3:00:56 PM Deepa Balakrishnan For further clarification, Sales department will be able to assist you in a better way. If you wish, I can transfer the chat to the concerned department.

So for everybody that has posted that there are backordered parts and no lead times on anything. Deepa says your wrong. hahahhahaha
I just wished Deepa was right.

With the pre-defined responses you get from dell i swear it is like talking to a robot.

here is the link to the direct2dell thing for comparison.
    http://direct2dell.com/default.aspx?p=2
    just thought that was funny.

    the waiting continues.........

Woah. I didn't notice that the direct2dell post was modified.

    "XPS M1330 Order Status Update
    Tue. Jul 10, 2007
    Lionel Menchaca, Digital Media Manager
First of all, thank you for the great response to the XPS M1330!

Several of you have submitted comments and sent direct e-mails asking about lead times for the new notebook. For those customers who placed an order, you were quoted a ship date in August (~30 working days).

You should check the status of your order again over the next week, because we expect to begin shipping XPS M1330 notebooks, configured by our customers, from our factories starting tomorrow. With shipments heading out, our order system can now calculate a more targeted expected ship date for every order placed. Once we ramp up, expected ship dates will be updated regularly, so keep checking back on Dell.com, under "My Order Status" (upper right corner of the page). You'll need an order number and a second form of verification, like zip code, handy.

Update: 7/13: My apologies—I misinterpreted some of the information I received, so wanted to clarify. We expect existing orders to be delivered by the date given when you ordered. Because we have a backlog of systems to work through, we don't expect orders to ship ahead of their current scheduled dates. We'll work to ship systems quickly, and look forward to any feedback you might have on it.

While some of the updated ship dates will be sooner than the original dates, others may not improve much. Those orders include components that have limited initial supply, like the WLED display, the white display back and the 2.0MP web camera. In a nutshell, these are popular options and demand is exceeding supply.

When we have an update on the situation, I'll blog about it. In the meantime, thanks for your patience."

Sorry this is probably way old news as it is dated 7/13. Does this mean that orders in Build now could/probably will be in Build for weeks?

I hope the ship dates will adjust for everyone. Especially the unlucky ones who have an ESD of September 6th... :(
