Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped

@Nemisys: I'm so sick of these India call centre guys who know NOTHING about what's going on. It's such bad customer service.

 

I have never waited so long for something before! I am so use to getting thigns right away especially electronics that cost this much! Other than like a PS3 and iPhone I never knew I would try and buy something that would take a while to get. 1 month and 2 days to ship an item is a long time! I would normally have cancelled by now but I want this so bad!!!!! It is going to be my baby that goes everywhere with me!
Has anyone seen the new Sony VAIO TZ 11.1" line? Very very sexy. But base model costs $400 more than my m1330 starting and not nearly as powerful, but oh so sexy.

 

Have you taken a look at the Sony CR series? Those look pretty sexy too, and have a lower starting price. The downside is that they do not have an option to upgrade the graphics card (its fixed with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100). It also does not come with built in Bluetooth, or even a fingerprint reader for that matter. I'm not even sure its a Santa-Rosa based model. It does have a 14.1'' screen going for it though.

 

It is Santa Rosa based, but it has a 14" screen and weighs 5.5lbs. That is too much for daily portability.

 

I know there currently is chaos cause of the canceled orders and stuff, but anyone's order progress in this fury?

yeah, the question is whether 1330 will like that bag.. After all, 1330 is gonna be in much closer contact with it than you, sliding in and out....

 

LOL... m1330 is listed as a compatible device though so I was like good! I'm sure it should be snug... but we will see.

Sadly... i'll have the bag here faster than the m1330.

 

OK - well I have some corroboration to that.
I am the guy in Beijing waiting for a high specced M1330 with WLED and camera, 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM, Vista Ultimate (English), fingerprint reader.

27-Jun - Ordered (paid by money transfer on 28th)
10-Jul - originally alleged shipping date
11-Jul - order appears in the tracking system straight from pre-build into build
Estimated delivery date 26-Jul.

Then it sat in "Build".
The first status change came today - it is still in build but the estimated delivery date has advanced one day to 25-Jul.

 

I'm in testing today!

Went to build on Monday and testing today!!

I'm still in pre-production and was assured that only a few orders have begun to be built and they're all mine...yea right.

I ordered on June 28th, called to change the order to add the LED and fingerprint reader on July 5th and my ship date at that point actually changed from 8/17 to 8/3. I was pre-production from 7/5 until 7/16 and now am in testing.

I live in Florida in the US, btw.

Why? I ordered my system legitimately, and not through Drake. There are others in pre-production too, I believe.

 

Hmmmm.... true... but others (that haven't gone to build) have also gotten their orders canceled (that didn't go through Drake).

I have no idea what's going on @ Dell anymore... heh.

 

Will, I ordered (with a legitimate EEP from another school) late at night on the 26th and I'm still in pre-prod too. I'm really not sure the status checker is reliable for M1330s. Some person reported earlier in the thread that they went into the build stage immediately after purchasing on July 16th or so. I'm not going to rely on these statuses until someone has one in hand.

 

I ordered mine on July 17th and very quickly moved to the build stage. However, before that I had placed 3 other orders before which I subsequently had cancelled before finally deciding on the specs I really wanted.

 

Yea, I've heard not one has shipped or will ship until next week...err...three days. I also think the status system is probably whacked. I'm wondering if anyone else has called/chatted about how those of us who have ordered on the 26-29 or close thereof who are in preproduction while others who have ordered a week or more later are in or beyond the build stage?

 

I'm betting we'll see more go into testing today as the day goes on. We have a lot of people in other time zones who are not awake yet.

 

... but isn't the factory in Malaysia? I would think everyone is sleeping there... but if its a true 24x7 factory, then I guess its possible that they are still working on it.

 

Crap... even in Singapore my m1330 has been delayed twice already from 17 Jul to 23 Jul, im expecting further delays... zzzz

Congrats! Based off your post I checked my order and I'm finally in the build stage as well! Suddenly, I no loner think the status checker is unreliable... Order date and specs are in the sig.

 

Do not be so hasty. My 1520 is in the build stage and thats the stage where it got delayed. So dont get your hopes up.

 

There is always someone that kills everyones hopes well noone cares about your 1520 this is all m1330

I live in Fort Worth Texas. Went into Build Stage on 7/16. I was going to cancel my order today but thought I would check my status one more time. I am now in testing stage so I think I will wait one more week to see if it ships.

You should care supposedly the screen shortage affects all models not just the 1520.

 

for those who saw my post about that booq sleeve that should fit the m1330 almost perfectly, I found a site that is still offering it. its $25 + ship...I think I am going to order it when I get home from work!

P.S. Anyone who ordered in July we old schoolers (who ordered in June lol) do not want to hear any of your whining! "Oh oh I ordered a week ago and it's still in build stage" gah!

The Uk delays are apparently due to glass shortages to make the screens!

 

LOL, true. My ship date is scheduled for early September but I intend to continue to be optimistic about my order shipping out within the next 2-3 weeks. I'm a "glass is half-full" person. In fact, I think a majority of people who ordered this lappy (on or before the time of this post) will get it in early August at the latest.

 

That sucks...

They should have a "build your own Dell" version... they give us the parts... we assemble them together. I'd think that'd be much easier for ALL of us... .

Wow this feels exactly like Lenovo's T61 debacle. 2 months ago I was thinking about getting T61, but then someone leaked the M1330 spec, and I decided not to. And T61 has the same production hoopla, where lots of people got their order canceled and delayed. At least Lenovo compensate all of them with free battery and other goodies I think.

I ordered on 6/26, still in build stage now. ETA 7/28... I have a bad feeling it might get delayed... hope not.
