I agree, I would call and follow up with Dell and make sure about the status of your order. I had a terrible experience after ordering at a Dell kiosk, the order went thru but never existed at Dell and I was charged in my Dell Preferred Account.
-
I don't need the Drake deal because the epp discount is good enough for me. I was just wondering what it was.
Ya down with epp, yeah you know me!

Tileman-
Here is the thread re: Drake.

Thanks. I had found this forum and now i'm happy to just know what its about.

Welcome! However the Broncos stink
Go Pats!
-
There are a few more who've mentioned they reached testing.
-
ok, so i just got off the phone with two reps, i ordered on july 10, with expected delivery of august 9. one of them told me i would get it september 6 and the other said the first week of august. i don't know who to believe anymore. They also said that canadiens will get their order after that of the united states, because of the overwhelming demand there.
on the bright side, the laptop comes with creative earbuds. Which i already own, and i must say are quite good, and of superior quality to most earphones i have tried! -
Question for the lucky ones in the testing phase: did you find this out via the order status phone system?
-
Oh yea ... tileman.
-
I called the 800 number.
-
Niceeeee.... it will be my first pair of ear buds... ever...
.
-
I found out about mine being in testing through the phone! Last night I called and it was in the build stage but this morning had moved to the testing stage!
-
Awesome... can't wait to listen to people getting fragged in ultra high definition. Couple that with the SoundBlaster X-Fi Express Card and you get truely amazing sound quality, from a laptop no-less.
-
Dell should offer a "premium" version of systems that are launching with such hype. They should have this "premium" config already built so the first 50K people who order one can have it shipped right away.
It could just be a normal m1330 with good specs (maybe a special color?)...I'd gladly pay a little bit more to get this thing right away. -
X-Fi card is a piece of junk
I was excited for it too...
-
Knowing Dell.. they would probably botch that up somehow too!
-
How so is it junk? I thought Creative was amazing at producing high quality sound devices...
-
Can the people who are in the testing stage post their system parts list?
-
There are threads about it. Basically it is advertised as X-Fi but doesn't include an X-Fi chip. It has an older quality soundblaster chip. The card offloads the EAX processing to your CPU which lowers frame rates/kills performance.
I really was very excited about the card....I'll probably still buy one to hook up to my stereo (not for games though). I haven't played a game on my PC in years haha. -
My specs are in my signature.
-
I actually love the idea of a premium config ready to order/ship right away. We've been debating the case in the office here about the excitement surrounding this model and how best to sustain that.
-
Arghhh... yet another Dell blunder (although we could blame Creative). I'm a first time Dell buyer, so this obviously doesn't bode well for them on getting repeat biz in the future. As for the sound card, it doesn't make sense that it is missing the all important X-Fi chip. Why would they have it in the name when its not included? Why Creative? WHY?

I mean the parts list with the SKU from your order status page.
-
Thanks! Yeah I got the idea from the way Sony does things. They usually come out with a few pre-made configs you can order online or buy from a store before you can custom config a machine.
I think it goes against Dell's model to do this, but maybe they could have a limited edition premium config pre-made and launch it simultaneously with the custom config sales on their website.
If they limited it enough, they'd be assured to sell out all of the models, and it would reduce strain on their custom configuration building. They'd have "slightly" fewer custom orders to handle.
I think it would also increase the hype, because you'd get a limited number of systems out there right away and that in turn would create more buzz. -
FYI. If you do not goto Drake University then you are committing fraud by apply that "deal" to your system. It's that simple, and if you read Dells TOS they reserve the right to cancel any order that has discrepancies, or invalid coupon combinations etc etc.
-
Thanks tileman. The reason i ask is because i was worried about the LCD-LED SKU number issues discussed when the M1330 was released. But since you have 5591 in your parts list and it is in testing then i'm not too worried about having an invalid configuration.
-
It's just a branding issue. Creative's lowest grade desktop X-Fi card is missing the chip as well. I don't think it's Dell's fault. In fact, the X-Fi card isn't easily attainable at this point, so it is sort of cool Dell is selling it so soon. The nice part for the m1330 buyers is that this will allow audio hookups to a stereo from the side of the machine when you are at home, while maintaining the nice headphone jacks in the front of the lappy when you travel.
-
What battery did you get? 9 or 6 cell?

Haha. Based off your post I checked my order status and I'm "in production and in the build stage!"
Yay!
-
what is the 1800 # for checking???

bladude, tell him the number

18004339014
-
1-800-433-9014 . Just wait for the music to start and put in your order number.
-
why does he check it 25 times a day
-
glad i live in america
-
Don't put down canucks, eh?
-
To be honest that's how I think it should be.
If Dell can not sustain a world wide launch then they should start at home and branch out from there.
But that's not what they claim to do, so if I were a Canadian and this were true I would be pissed off.
-
code what is the 1800 # for checking order status
-
I just got done using the Dell Online chat to check on my XPS 1330: (I ordered this June 27th)
07/19/2007 02:07:16PM Agent: "The details reflect that the order is delayed due to the 128MB,NVIDIA GEFORCE8400M"
07/19/2007 02:07:43PM Howard: "ya when I ordered it over the phone, I was told it wouldn't really take over a month, to get that was just a very large estimate"
07/19/2007 02:07:57PM Agent: "Since you have a very high end configuration so the production team is working hard to have the order shipped to you soon."
07/19/2007 02:08:41PM Agent: "Howard, the best I can do is that, I will process a request to have the order expedited for you." -
What exactly were those worries? because in my order, i have this one:
320-5583 13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA TL WLED Backlit LCD with Camera, XPS M1330
Is this SKU an OK one? -
1-800-433-9014
-
Yes... and I check these forums too much
.
-
Why do you keep asking for the number on every page of this thread? Haha.
-
Well i got confirmation through a phone call from a dell rep that my system is built and is in the testing stage. Even with them confirming all of this information they would not improve my estimated date of 8/17. I told them I was just gonna cancel my order if 8/17 was the best they can do and the manager proceeded to give me an extra $200 off to keep me from canceling. I wasn't mad but just told him i didn't want to wait that long for a system thats already built. I guess we will see what happens next week!
-
I also recieved a call from a dell manager saying my system was in the "final stages" of production. I asked what the next step was and she said it will go through the boxing stage. I found this strange as my order isn't even in testing yet.
-
Dell has never called me about any of my orders and our companys orders lots of stuff every year
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
