5 weeks delay announced on the french website for the 1330... It was 3 weeks last week. Getting worse and worse, it will soon be more difficult to find a 1330 than a Wii back to last Xmas!

I order the morning of the 26th and just went into build yesterday. I should meet my delivery date provided that my lappy has all the parts. Dell called me last night at 1 AM and told me my laptop was going to be delayed because there was a shortage of palm rests for it. That sounds like malarkey.

Yet another joke. What the hell is happening  They dont seem to allocate parts to people who bought them 1st. Just seems to be which laptop gets to the prouction line faster.. Oh and then they realise that there arnt enough parts!

Yup or pre-pruduction in the UK, Theyre building out hopes up when it moves to a new stage... then giving us a delay when they reallise there arnt enough parts to build it.
This is driving me mad, im gonna go and have brunch!

I called about the build times and they say 24-48 hours then a further day to test and pack!
Obviously a lie, or they dont have enough parts which is rediculous!

That is about the only thing that sounds close to what I heard: 3-5 days to go from build to shipped. It does make sense to me for that time range.

I think that Dell underestimated the shipping dates for a lot of customers when they started out with 2 weeks, while many others of us could only get a 4 week time to delivery. Now Dell is trying to blame that mistake on anything other than themselves.

I couldn't sleep last night so I decided to come to work at 6 instead of 7:30, that way I had a good hour of playing online and not doing anything else before the boss got here...and I was just told he isn't coming in today!!!

Yours should be delivered before mine...in around 3 weeks. I was told that the actual delivery starts Monday. Anyone who's in boxing now is probably in that group. Second group of build will probably be Tuesday; I'll probably be Thursday or Friday.

I harassed the sales dept to find out for me. I finally got an answer out of them on that. I also have some experience tearing apart and rebuilding my first gateway laptop and I'm pretty sure it that 3-5 days is a very good time frame to get it built correctly. Do you know how many screws they put in these things? It took me an entire day to get it torn down completely and another two to get it put back right...half of the time trying to figure out what size screw goes where.

yeah, it took me a little while my first time too..
but actually the other day i had to replace and LCD and CPU on a del lappy
took less than a half hour for the the whole job..and thats after working on 10 laptops or so in my lifetime
..those dell dudes should be knocking them out in 15 minutes!
then again, they're building from scratch...and then again it all just fits together lol

It's crazy, I finally posted a thread that took off :D Anyhow, I ended up with about 300 plus screws to sort out...that was on a 98 gateway solo 2500...I can't believe I can actually remember that.
Unscrew these four, pull, nope
Oh, here's one, unscrew, pull
Ah hah, remove those rubber things, four more, unscrew, pull
ah, there's more hidden in the hard drive,...you get the point.

5591 is the LED, apparently it replaces part number 5583. Which is in another order I have. Some orders have 5591, some 5583 for the LED.
