No, I didn't get a new order number. And I talked to the rep... he said that there were no parts contributing to it's delay. The entire notebook is delayed. I'm guessing they're REALLY short on stock. I called 1800-247-2076 if you're wondering.

Could someone explain exactly what they said to get free shipping upgrade and what part of the dell chat they said it too. I clicked customer service and shipping chat and all I got was a "I'll request to have your order expedited."

customer service, then the generic option... i think its "other issues" or something like that,

i didn't request next day shipping. I just asked him why its taking so long when it usually takes a lot shorter, i need it asap because im going to school in 2 weeks. then he volunteered to upgrade shipping to next day.

just keep trying till you get someone nice..

7/03/2007 09:48:22AM ME: "and is the Latest shipping date still the same?"
07/03/2007 09:49:19AM Agent (**): "I see that the order is in the production stage, The estimated ship date is 08/17/2007."
07/03/2007 09:49:21AM Agent (**): "The estimated ship date is just a conservative ship date for the order and it is quite possible that the order ships before estimated date."
07/03/2007 09:49:32AM Agent (**): "I have made an exception in your case as you have contacted us today and upgraded the shipping method to Next Day, free of charge for you, so as soon as the order gets shipped out, it will be delivered the Next Business Day."
07/03/2007 09:50:23AM ME: "Awesome.... thank you!"

Can Vista home Prem support 4GB? I did a search online and some people say it can others say 32bit OS's can not. So I am not sure :p

Vista Home Premium will not support the full 4GB, because of the 32-bit software limitation. The m1330 will recognize 4GB, but windows will only be able to use 3.25GB.

If I remember correctly there is a 64 bit version of vista that would see all the RAM but
    A. It's a pain to get (have to have 32 bit version then send away for 64 bit version i think)
    B. Vista + 64 bit = Drivers? what drivers?
    C. judging from Tux in your sig CodeMonkeyx, that's not going to be much of an issue

I guess I decided to get 4GB knowing that I would only see 3.25GB inside windows. However, it is a better solution that having 1x2GB and 1x1GB sticks of RAM in your computer if you require more than 2GB of RAM. 2 sticks of RAM in different sizes will not work in dual-channel mode, thus slowing your computer down.

This price almost makes me want to a couple more sets, keep it for a few months until the price of ram goes back up again and then sell it on ebay. However, who knows if the prices keep going down or how long it will take to go back up.

The 64 bit versions of Vista were tested to be over 10% faster than the 32 bit versions. There's a microsoft link where you put your 32 bit vista serial code in and they send you a free DVD with 64 bit Vista on it. There could be driver issues though.

I'm sure Dell will start installing 64 bit versions of Vista on new notebooks soon (if they don't already), and we'll be able to make full use of our 64 bit intel processors.

It runs 32-bit applications too. But not all work perfectly. Adobe Creative Suite CS3 did not like it.

And the driver problem is even worse, because I believe that all 64-bit drivers have to be signed by Microsoft too before they will install.

it is the LED screen that is delaying the shipment, not the bluetooth or wireless N card, configured it again, and the shipment was 8/14/07, and added the LED screen, it jumped to 8/21/07... hope there enough LED screen for the first few batches that ordered earlier.....

o yeah i also chat to a dell rep and got free nex business day shipping! awesome!

I don't think they actually obtained the M1330 yet but rather they eBay it off first then when the M1330 actually arrives, then they'll ship it to them.
