Interesting, as I have that combination as well. I haven't run into any problems yet.

Well I run on a Mac at work (well and a PC but I use the Mac for Photoshop and web surfing) and my IT dept doesn't know anything about Macs and can't see what we are doing since they all run PCs! Its nice, considering our IT dept is like a small group of Nazi's!

I do not need access to a persons computer at work to see what they have been viewing on the web, chatting about over IM, or anything. -
chatting with Kushboo Sharma right now.

1. The 4 cell provides a lower wattage and can not support the dedicated video? Unlikely?
2. The 4 cell and dedicated graphics does not provide sufficient battery life?
Other than that what else could it be? Can't be heat or space because the 4-cell should be cooler and the same size as 6-cell. -
-
Oh great! I got a cell with a ded. graph card.
-
hmm. what happens if I call the order modification department? will it delay the order. and the guy lied. he said they were open til 11pm CST. They are only open til 9pm. argh. call em up tomorrow I suppose.
-
Well. I hope I get upped to a 6cell for free without impacting my ship. Perhaps they should just ship a 6cell to me on a separate order (that way my current order isn't impacted...) unless of course they cancel my order because of the 4cell. frick.

Right now Dell's scheduling is so messed up you might get it sooner if you change and get the "right" parts, or you might choose the "wrong" parts and get it in September. -
-
they don't have a 6+9 option. Only 4+9 and 9+9.

07/23/2007 09:02:33PM Agent (Khushboo Sharma): "Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Service Chat. My name is Khushboo. How may I help you?"
07/23/2007 09:02:48PM Jim: "Hi. I have a questio nabout an order i placed"
07/23/2007 09:03:09PM Jim: "I went through the on-line configurator recently for the xps m1330"
07/23/2007 09:03:26PM Jim: "and it states the 4cell battery is in-compatible with the 8400 video card"
07/23/2007 09:03:35PM Jim: "my order xxxxxxxxx is that configuration"
07/23/2007 09:03:40PM Jim: "is that going to cause a delay?"
07/23/2007 09:03:46PM Jim: "or cancellation?"
07/23/2007 09:04:04PM Jim: "If so, can the order be corrected so that it has a valid configuration?"
07/23/2007 09:04:52PM Agent (Khushboo Sharma): "I suggest you speak with Order Modification Department as they would be the best people to assist you with. You can call them at 1-800-247-2076 between 7AM to 11 PM CST Monday to Saturday."
07/23/2007 09:04:55PM Agent (Khushboo Sharma): "They will be more than happy to assist you and will give you all the required information."
07/23/2007 09:05:14PM Jim: "ok. I will do that then" -
See you should have stopped at just asking why the 4-cell will not work. You asked too much before he replied. If you type too fast their eyes glaze over and they just say "Call this number"

Thankfully I just went with a single 9 cell battery.
-
-
Lucky... I want to buy the battery separately... but it still doesn't seem to be available yet online.
-
I'm probably just gonna stick with my 6-cell unless I find that it just doesnt cut it for taking through 2 or 3 classes per day.
I am considering buying the 1GB turbo memory module. Does the m1330 come with turbo memory? -
it's true about the 4 cell battery and nvidia card not being compatible...I placed an order over the phone yesterday and was told the same thing so I went with just the 9 cell

So here's my 1330 horror story. i ordered on 7/3, from the Japan site because they had an incredible offer, and I ended up getting a pretty tricked out notebook for less than $1300. (gotta love the exchange rate) Problem is, I'm leaving japan on the 13th of August but i thought, WTH, no way it takes them 6 weeks to build and ship this thing. Long story short, took me 8 days to get into build, (7/11) and I've been there ever since. Got a hold of a rep today and he recommended that I cancel my order, as there is no chance it will ship before the 15th of August. He said there is a parts shortage but couldn't be more specific than that.
Uhhhgg. what a painful process. I fell in love with this computer but Dell is really making things difficult. As much as I would love to get this thing, I think I'm going to have to cancel it, and maybe go for the dv2500, t61, or even m1210. any suggestions anyone? -
-
I'm considering canceling my M1330 for the Asus V2s. A build time of almost two months is just ridiculous.

There is a new M1330 commercial on tv i just saw. IT has women building an engine a huge one and then lowering it into the notebook via the keyboard area and it shows the m1330 in red. Ok commercial.
I'm worried about the battery issue now as I got the 4 cell primary and 9 cell other. Call tomorrow and see i guess. -

So I have always been a staunch mac hater. but right now it seems like the next best option. naturally i would run bootcamp. what does it cost/how difficult is this? does performance suffer at all?

somewhat funny video:

4 days to ship, still in build.

If you need to make that date... you should idealy come out of building tomrrowish. Good luck! heh heh heh...
-
Yes... Mixed emotions... exactly.

I love the "Yours Is Here" quote at the end. If its "here", then where am I?
