Yeah....same here...I ordered before 10am on June 26 and it has been in build since July 11.

When I spoke to the Dell rep at the kiosk on Sunday I mentioned the long delay you guys are going through. He told me that we was aware of long delays in the US and Europe but I wouldn't be affected by it here in Australia and the lead time would be no more than a week with a total max turn around of 3 weeks.
-
i agree i'm jus mad about people who ordered after me getting eta's weeks in advance of me. o well, patience is a virtue!!!
-
dont worry about it they probly bought like the most basic specs they could or something. urs is probly really high end or something.
-
Just ordered today (07/24/2007) est shipping date 09/06/2007 Omgsh!!! that's 1.5 months
-
haha get in line behind all of us
-
-
well that sux for the rest of us then doesn't it...
-
That's what mine says and I placed my order on June 28th -
its all up to luck now then. cuz there r SOME ppl that r getting their machines already. how long is this delay really? dell has to realize that college kids need these b4 skool starts.

With regards to shipping, everyone should realize none of these systems are shipped individually fm texas. They first get loaded onto a pallette and then transported to whereever.
How does this affect things???
Lets use Canada for example. Over 1000 orders made from the first day until now were cancelled, most of which would have made it onto the first pallette which will be in Pickering from Texas on 1 Aug. Now, because the mistakes have been rectified a great number of orders were redone today automatically, all of which will have delivery dates of September.
The truth is though, that there will now be a push on which will try and make sure that first pallette is as was originally planned.
This may be the case where a Pallette is leaving for Ausyland next week. In this case that system that was ordered today will be rushed to make that pallette...regardless what your online tracking says. -

In a way yes...but Im trying to show, they dont care what your estimated date is. They care about the date of the load. Its just not cost effective for them to have shipping arrangements for a large load on a plane and then not be able to pull through.
It also accounts for early dates of delivery. For example, many Cdn orders were reflecting a delivery of 19-23 August which conforms to that shipment. Typically most dell orders are a week or more early, not late.
Really, its just typical business. Their shipments all around the world are already scheduled. They build to meet these shipments not the buyer. They just do a good job making it look like it.
I cant answer though for the formula used in the States as many shipments are by tractor trailer and also next day shipping is used. -
wait so most orders from dell r early correct?

I guess ordering today wasn't such a bad idea. After all dell is starting to smooth things out with those bluetooth issues. I was going to wait till august to order but after hearing about them not charging your visa/credit card until the actual shippment date that really gave ma relief and confidence in making an earlier purchase. I also knew that everyone would most likely jump for this lappie and so I waited a bit for dell to sort out the confusion (which actually happened) lol...
-
haha. its not quite a treat when its not urs, but i kinda get wut ur saying.
-
Seriously, it was too good a deal to pass up. I probably have the other one sold if I get it soon enough. -
Called the order modification line 1-800-247-2076.
After a 30 minute wait I explain that thier site says the 4 cell battery and nVidia card are incompatible. She says hold on she'll check.
After 10 minutes.
Mari: They are compatible but they are not.
Me: "HUH!"
Mari: Seems like a lot of people called tech support because they got zero battery life with the 4 cell and 128 card so they decided to make them incompatible (on the web site).
Me: So whats that mean for me?
Mari: Well sir there is a delay but I would be happy to change that to a 6 cell.
Me: Will that change my delivery date?
Mari: Yes sir you will get your computer on August 16th (I have next day shipping) SO will get it sooner than your estimated date of August 24.
Me: OK change that to 6 cell.
Mari: I can't change your oder because you went through EPP.
I'll spare you guys the rest of the conversation but she did say that the systems on order by my date 7/8 would all be shipped out on 8/15.
Except they ran out of T7500's.
So now I've ordered a SZ660n/c... anyone got a fork lift I can borrow, got a Dell I want to poke holes in. -

Hey guys,
I have followed this thread for a few weeks now and thought about putting in a small reply now. I ordered my M1330 last week (7/17) and have a delivery date of 9/6. However the rep I spoke with said I would get it at the latest in late august, not sure how much truth there is behind that statement thought.
I also received free next day shipping and today I talked him into offering me a free 6 cell battery (had a 4+9 ordered but the 4 doesn't seem to work too well anymore?). That's the battery configuration I was looking for from the beginning so at least this turned out well. -
dell is freakin running out of everything for the m1330. im surprised they didn't predict an increase in sales once they made their laptops look nice for a change.
-
-
On my order my initial 9cell/4cell purchase got bumped up to 9cell/9cell without any price change...
-
-
it's a stunt worse than PS3 shortage
-
haha thats a good comparison
-
agreed. except that this actually is more important than the ps3.
-
Again though I would consider whether parts are being prioritized for the specific shipments...
For example, lets say there a load going to Australia, their computer accounts for so many to be used in this process during this time.
You then get what we have seen. Diff countries are reporting lack of availability of certain parts at certain times.
We also know that after a certain lead time (30 days) the order is just cancelled. So lets say the parts available are accounted for specifically for UK/Australia...that then pushes availability back hence the lead time and cancellations.
Make sense??? -
makes alot of sense...still want my laptop though haha
-
-
Wow... I left on vacation for 3 days and the number of pages doubled, other than the 2 people that got their laptops anything new happen?
-
i really would like to see an email from michael dell himself explaining everything..no lies or anything...its one thing to be back ordered because of demand..it happens and thats not why I think most of us are upset at dell..its the fact that we get lied to about everything else....but just a small rant
-
:twitcy:
-
Ok lets try math with you then
This week Texas is doing 12 M1330s bound for England
There are only parts for 6 of these
You call your order first so think you nab one of the six
Its required moreso for the UK shipment though.
You now get a cancellation for part not avail or a huge lead time.
Hows that??
PS The only 'for sure' thing here is what your going to do when the delivery guy shows up with your M1330 and slips on your front step, landing on the box. (lol) -
-
i couldnt resist...i said i wasnt going to check order status for awhile..but i just called the dell witch....im still cursed with the build stage spell....
-
-
-
so basically the UK and Australia have high precedence than in the US correct? -
Oh my #$$E% YOU can be in any country you want except the priority country. The point that I was trying to prove is that, the priority in parts goes to the country "or shipment or pallette" that is expected to be loaded first.
They are not going to hold parts aside for he who orders first if they are required for an earlier shipment..
AND NO....precedence is only decided by the place in line. They dont build units for the US every day in Texas. They have manifests. This week may be US, next Canada, next UK and so on.... The part priority goes to the manifest priority.
K...I give....I quit lol -
-
I hope the UK gets a sniff of it soon! -
An actual question about the 1330 and the 8400M GS. I am upgrading from a reliable ol' Inspiron 8500 w/an ATI Mobility 9000. It has served me very well for 4 (!) years of flawless service.
Anyway, I want to play Elder Scrolls, um the newer one, and NWN2 and stuff like that. No problem with the 1330, 2 gigs, + 8400M GS, right? How about with an external monitor on higher res, say a 20" or 22" screen through the HDMI port. I think, for these types of games, no problem, right?
I play nothing like Fear or any of the hyper-speed shoot 'em games. Mostly roll-playing and the like.
Thanks for you input! -
Huh? I don't get it...
Just joking (I'm LOL)
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
