I think what flamenko is saying is this:
The US factory is actually in Malaysia. I think the Canadian one is in the US and the UK one is in Ireland. Lets pretend that all the parts led, chassis, web cams, optical drives, RAM are all shipped to one DELL factory and this factory (say based in Antarctica) sends the parts to the factories listed above (Malaysia, US and Ireland).

Someone in Canada might order before someone in the US. Say the Canadian orders on the 24th of July and the American orders on the 30th of July.

If there's the next bulk US shipment is on the 7th of August and the next bulk Canadian one is on the 14th, then Antarctica will, since it's got a limited supply, send everything it's got as far as the M1330 is concerned to the US. So even though the canuk ordered first, the American will get his first. Because the US shipment is closer.

I’m not sure how they’re prioritizing within countries though. People who ordered days or even weeks after the launch (and thus several hundred other customers) are getting their orders shipped. I know several people here went to build stage days before I did too. Hopefully there’s a big US shipment this weekend and all of us in the 6/26 –7/3 range will get ours.

My wife just came running down stairs wondering why I was laughing so damn loud. Think I will go out and shovel snow or something.

I just may print that off and make a link chart of it. lol

Had to add to your rep on that one...check it out.

Ok, I have decided. I am sticking with the damn 1330 and I ain't checking for a few days...just let the chips fall where they may.

Of course, I will still chat on here and complain but I am going to give it til Friday before I check again. The only comparible computer is a few hundred more as that company offers a crappy standard warranty and to buy up puts me well over my 1330.

Flamenko knows some of the shipments for Canada because he's been working with some higher ups. As far as finding that out for your own location, you'll have to contact the local managers and see if they're willing to spill the beans. Most likely you'll just get a canned answer. Some Canadian orders have been especially hard hit with problems so I'd imagine that's why they're a little more forthcoming here.

Im not sure how one would find out exact manifest dates but...heres something to ponder.

When I first ordered, I checked with a friend in Texas who stated this model goes to Australia/UK first...they get the first load. This was confirmed through all of the initial est ship dates for these countries; they were all in July.

But something happened to change this... The demand in the US/Canada was huge, much larger than anyone could have ever imagined. Suddenly, the Australia/UK orders all get pushed back to later dates.

    Cooincidence???

Well actually, you may find a diff priority as so many Canadian systems were cancelled and then resubmitted into the system today. My belief is that they will prioritize these to make that end month pallette.

It only makes sense as many of us have been getting cancellation after cancellation for sku related issues.

Then again I may be totally wrong....

The ship dates for the US and Canada were always pretty conservative compared to the ones given out in Australia and the UK. As a result, we haven't had our ship dates pushed back (yet) but in Au and UK, that's happened to several people, multiple times in fact.

Notice that Direct2Dell has been slooooow on the updates.

This is probably the #1 Dell thread by a WIDE margin.

C'mon Lionel we know you lurk here, whats the scoops?

As I said, I cant be too sure with regards to the US because you have the advantage of next day delivery and your travel distances arent so lengthy.

Once that Air China plane lands, I believe your order is then fed on to whatever delivery service you requested. At least, that should be the case in the United States.

I'm going to make a spin-off of the Alcoholics Anonymous group entitled:

The Dell Order Status Addiction Anonymous

Meetings begin promptly every day of every week at 10:00 AM (EST) on this thread. Together we can conquer our addiction to checking our order status!

Of course, the sure-fire way to cure said affliction is by actually procuring the elusive m1330...

EDIT: Oh yeah, I've been cured ever since yesterday evening when I jumped Dell's sinking ship.

It costs a pretty penny, at just over $2100 USD. Actually, I got better components with this than I would have gotten with the XPS, namely the screen, processor, and graphicx card. The XPS I had originally configured costed $2300.

The MBP's definitely attractive though. I know I've drooled over more than one in my class.

Well. I have 5k in Apple money now.... Still, the 1330 is close to the perfect machine. I think it is worth the wait. Unless my order gets canceled even after I warned them... And, I need Apple to let me run Linux on the baremetal (no VM crap).

I need access to the VT capabilities on the proc. OSX doesn't have that. I have knowledge that the 1330 does have it at both the proc and BIOS level.

To get to it on a MAC you have to hack the EFI... and that voids the HW warranty.

That sucks. I guess it sort of makes sense though, as there's limited driver support for Linux on a lot of things. Heh, that makes more sense than Dell's shipping/production system.

I need VT for Xen/KVM work.

You know, after hearing all these stories, I am seriously tempted to jump ship as well. Thinpad T61 is looking mighty good right now specially since my new date is September 18th!

The only thing that is holding me back is that screen on T61 is not in the center, which bugs me even in the pictures!

Macbook was an option but not anymore because of school, speaking of which, orientation starts on 6th August and I won't have the 1330 till September.

support for older/ppc macs is moving along (eg slackintosh). not sure how far people have gotten with intel/mbp type macintoshes.

EDIT, for the sake of staying on topic: i got my m1210 working very well with a linux desktop, certainly as well as windows in most areas, better in some (video editing), worse in others (gaming and software compatibility). looking forward to laboring through it on the m1330.
