Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped

I'm considering just abandoning the m1330 and waiting for a 15.4 down the road.

It'd probably have less supply issues, as it wouldn't have an LED...

 

So, I know this is completely off topic but have a question. I had a MBP running XP through BootCamp...could I have used that for IT work, such as networking. I don't see why I couldn't have, right?

Also, when running XP, buttons like sound, eject and so on didn't work...is that normal?

trebuin, I was told by a very reliable source that all the orders are blocked because of a shortage of excuses to explain why they are delayed. Once Dell got some new excuses, the delays may be reduced.

LOL, True. We do go off topic a lot on this thread. But think of it this way:

Dell gives us random excuses about the delay, from palm rest supply issues to wrong color blue paint. Since Dell can't keep their story straight, why should we? We have nothing better to do than go off on tangents wondering about all things that are life.

 

Untill they ramp up production you want see it . Seems like all orders now are are going right to build stage

 

Congrats! There is only one problem though. EVERYONE who now orders one goes into the indefinite holding pattern Dell likes to call the "Build" stage. Whats your estimated shipping date?

 

God, I ordered 4 DVDs from Amazon yesterday, and I just received an email giving me the tracking number for the shipment. That just sounds so unrealistic to me Should I call them to ask what's wrong???

 

In The Cdn order system, as soon as your pre approved for financing, it automatically moves to build stage. It means nothing in relation to system build though.

Well so much for waiting til Friday. I just checked and it is still in the build stage...I think I made it 12 hrs without checking...hey, its a start! I know one thing, I am not going to obsess like I did yesterday and the days prior.

i dont get why the constant checking on status...despite that an estimated shipping date was given.... youre just psyching your self out expecting it to change...

 

im still in build also and whats sad is that my ship date is fast approaching 8/1 and each day that passes and im still in build i get more worried i been in build since 7/16 and the damn thing is supposed to ship next week

 

Maybe cause I told CSR that I thought the +7weeks ESD (51days) was out of line and if I don't get it within a month I would cancel the order. The CSR said that it would most likely come within a month and upped me to NBD for free. If I don't see testing or boxing by the 28th and shipping by the 30th I cancel my order.

yea my ship date is 2 days away....

 

damn man I mean at least they can hit the estimates ship date because if they dont hit mine I think I will cancel because thats would just be too much for me to handle but i still have to 8/1 so theres time for the both of us testing and boxing shouldnt take too long but then again with dell you never know.

 

Do you really plan to install the 64bit version of Ubuntu? I was thinking of sticking to x86 for the moment since it is a pain in the a** to handle both the 32bit and 64bit libraries.

 

You know, if we all canceled and re-ordered our dells, that would destroy dell for the quarter results due at the end of this month.

IMO I don’t like the 9-cell battery that came with mine! The performance is great but I don’t like how it’s not flush with the bottom of the laptop. It makes the laptop very uncomfortable when sitting on your lap. The back dimension due to the battery is 2 inches whereas is you had a 6-cell it would be 1 ¼”. First chance I get I will be ordering a 6-cell so it will be flush with the system. As for the weight, I not a very good judge because I am into weight lifting. I think that it’s very light! Other than the battery this thing is awesome! Ear buds rock, side loading dvd slot is great, and the remote and media buttons work great!

On a side note, can you all please do me a favour? Can you please check if your order includes 412-0946 Dell Travel ExpressCard Remote Control, IR 1 ? The little remote that fits under your express card slot? Some people claim to come with it while my order didn't. A rep says that Canada prolly would not have their laptops come with this remote becuase it's not in stock yet and will be offered in the future, but I want to confirm what he says is true. Thanks!

 

could be because I ordered at the "right time". There's been on going discussion on theories of how dell actually makes their shipments. They don't actually ship them as soon as possible to you, but more like shipping it as soon as possible to make it for the shipment. They have designated time as to when 1 big shipment will go out and that's what they're trying to meet. So maybe their next shipment is sometime in mid august and so my order was pushed to build stage right away.

 

so I cancelled my m1330 order at 11am today. ordered a macbook pro at 2pm with the education discount. At 8pm, my macbook pro and my free ipod were already at my doorstep. take that dell

Can anyone, mainly tileman or cliegal, tell me if the m1330 came with windows anytime upgrade on the os disc. I am going to upgrade to vista ultimate from home premium as soon as i get it and it was cheaper this way than through dell.

 

well if pogiboi got his laptop from US then that's normal but if he's in Canada or anywhere else and he gets one then something fishy is going on with dell.

Thats amazing! Did you custom config it? Or did you order the pre-configed version? I changed up the hard drive on my order, and I expect it to arrive August 3rd or somewhere very close to that. Where are you at in the world?

 

I've just asked my Dell rep in Germany, he said the express remote control is included in every order

 

I got a following up email from Dell this morning. The rep told me the new estimated shipping date would be on or before 08/01/2007. Sounds great.

 

They always seem to be telling us that .

 

The remote control should be included for everybody. It's in the presentation pages of the laptop on their website. In every language. Same for the earbuds. If I don't have them, I will call to receive them with no extra cost.

 

Sounds too good to be true. Dell's not capable of delivering something AHEAD of schedule.
