ask the happy owners of 1330 that, not the desperate folks being owned by 1330 lead time![]()

I see on US site against the 4-cell and 9-cell batteries it states "May delay your XPS M1330 ship date"
Just as well I ordered the 6-cell -
Ok so here is the deal on mine. The processor (T7300), battery (9 cell) and DVD drive are on back order for another 16 days. The manager, Cathy Jones (Indian Manager...lol) is transferring me to the order modification dept who can change my order to "instock" items and can ship it right out!

Ive been watching this thread for a while and I had a question for you guys.
I ordered mine already,
2 gig ram
fingerprint
T7300 2.0ghz
LED
120 hard drive
and my question is whether i should have gotten the 128 nvida graphics card.
Im gonna be using the computer in college ( a lota internet browsing, word documents and some dvd watching)
do you guys think i need it (not gonna be gaming) -
800/915-3355
I am on the phone and it looks like Cathy lied, if they modify my order, it won't ship as soon as she says but the rep is checking stock on the processors for me. -
I did the unthinkable, I canceled my order and got a MBP. I hope I like it. It's due to arrive Aug 1.
-
Lol, they're making it so you can upgrade your DVD drive... With what, I ask you! Perhaps a USB fax machine? Have your CPU, HDD and RAM got a fax number? If they have, and you have pages and pages of data to fax, I suppose it's possible... :|
...See what you've driven me to, Dell! -
Ok here is the REAL deal. All processors allocated to the XPS M1330 are out of stock. They will NOT take from another group, like inspiron's, to fill our orders. All processors have a current lead time of 16 days. All computers, from my understanding, will not ship until the processors come in as they are out of processors like I said above. If you are looking to get this any sooner than 16 days, it isn't possible, unless you go with another computer.
-
Yer fine with the integrated graphics. -
It's like Toyota telling you they can't build Lexus' because they have to allocate tires to corolla's first. -
Is that just the US processors or is it a global thing? I hope PowerEdge is right.

I wouldn't be too quick to jump on that excuse Apple.

We're all trying to help, but I don't believe that the entire world is under a computer-part shortage as Dell is trying to make us believe. Their excuses are completely asinine.
I'm a firm believer that June 26th was nothing more than a paper launch, they were/are (Obviously) still hammering out promlems with the m1330. Blue-Tooth and the higher line of processors are examples of this. -
-
Ok. Thats one way to look at it but I am going to side with Dell on this because I said that I wanted to re-order and she said that it wouldn't help because no matter what processor I ordered, I would still have to wait.

10 to 14 days untill we see mass production !! That will push lots of us into late August/ Sept to get our laptops

Would anyone like to hear a plausible theory from a Canadian or want me to just sit back???
-
Of course flamenko, shoot!
-
On a more positive note, I went from build to the testing stage as of 6:51pm MST. Maybe Dell will make my July 28th ESD after all?

Like just two mins ago?

Hey HCW, everytime I go to your chat, firefox locks up...lol
-
Ok, I had to register with IE...now let me in!!! lol

I suggested this earlier in the day to HCW who just called me an idiot more or less...
I suggested that there would be changes in the US orders such as part shortages, changed dates and...everything that would amount to delays.
Appears I was bang on. Dont hate us Canucks for this but this is what i think...
There was apparently well over a thousand system cancellations starting from the day of release until yesterday in Canada. Our orders kept getting kicked back over and over. Last week Dell cancelled most of them until the issues could be resolved, these issues being the acceptance of skus for the LED and bluetooth.
What was happening was all Cdn orders kept getting spit out and cancelled at the build stage by the computer.
Now, as of yesterday, a huge amount of Canadian orders were again put into the system. These orders were orders that should have been filled earlier and piled on the pallette but werent. I believe these orders are being rushed to completion to make the first shipment to Pickering on the first of the month.
You have to remember...these shipments to outside countries contain thousands of systems.
So...now... it seems that we as canadians are being told not to worry yet you, as Americans are now being told there is a shortage.
In fact, I now know of several delivery dates which are around the 15 August mark, which would make sense if the shipment hit Pickering on the 1st, was sorted, sent out to purolator then shipped.
My thought is simply that there is now a rush to catch our orders up to that shipment which was scheduled long ago.
From a business standpoint, its unfortunate that Texas is the dell main 'hub' in all this. We can always divert the close to home orders but cannot change those which have had flights and transportation scheduled for months.
I wold believe if Dell cancelled the first Cdn shipment, there would be enormous flight and shipping costs as a result.
Well??? (And please no cursing) -
Only time will tell...
-
-
thanks poweredge.
For those lucky 2 who got there m1330s
Can you tell us how the mouse touchpad is, cuz i remember reading somewhere that it was too small, is that the case? -
flamenko, sorry HCW called you or made you feel like an idiot...
I think you are probably correct. -
I dont mind it....I know I can be a bit gruf at times as with another funny situation yesterday..
We are all going through similar emotional changes here...
First excitement to worry to envy then to stress...then back to anticipation again.
Oh my God whats happening to us????
On the good side, tonight I decided to make myself up a big batch of scampi...real hardshelled scampi. I bbq'd them then let them simmer in a butter sauce for a bit...
Was phenomenal..... lol -

I think all Us/Cdn orders are built side by side so they keep getting priorities which change. In fact I also wonder if this group includes UK/Australia.
This I wonder because when i first checked into the system i was told the first loads will be shipped to UK/Australia. -
-
Guys, Tell me what you think.
M1330 ordered on july 16th, went into build immediately after order. today it shows my lowjack as shipped but the pc order is still in build. is this a good sign or am I getting my hopes up prematurely?
would they send lowjack out weeks before the pc? my esd is aug 30th with overnite. -
Hey, Ryan, what are you specs?
-
So you're saying originally, the Canadians were going to get hit with the delays but it got handed to the Americans?
-
-
Black LED Screen /w Cam
T7300
1GB Ram (Have had the 2x1GB off Newegg for over a month now. :'(! )
120 GB 5400RPM HD
8400m GS
Intel AGN Wireless
6-Cell Battery
I think that's it? -
No...actually, I think there is going to be a large number of systems coming out in the next few days that got pushed ahead because of the canadian delays.. I think there were just a few threads relating to this.
But now, I think the priority may change to the Cdn systems until that load gets filled which is only 5-6 days in any case -
Personally, I think its the red casing that is the delay!!! lol
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
