Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped

Dolly Dell not working transferring to Dellspace "...our customer care center is closed".

 

that is strange, i placed my order june 27th and my esd for the laptop is july 29th and for my lowjack it is sometime in the 3rd week of august

 

blahdude, why didn't you get a camera?

 

I don't see the practicality of having a camera... plus it comes with extra software junk on your PC.

 

Is lojack only a US thing? I cant find it anywhere in Cdn dell.

 

well it says "build stage" lol... it looks as if it has the tendency of rushing for the shipment... gets me all excited

 

the esd on the pc was aug 30th and the lowjack was for like sept 16th so was like 2 weeks later then the pc, but like I said just now it shows the lowjack has indeed shipped.

Is anyone else thinking that this thread has been severely hijacked? We can't go 2-3 posts between someone coming up with another reason for delays. This is a thread for when you order and when it ships. Not for conspiracy theories on why dell is holding out on us.

I'd just like to see a thread that's a more useful and meaning ful read. Not a whole bunch of theories from disgruntled buyers (regardless of the fact that you have every right to be such) on why they haven't received their laptop yet.

I have a seperate # for the 6 cell because I ordered the 4 + 9 cell and the 4 is not compatible with nVidia 8400m card.

They all still say 8/23 ship.

If by build you mean Production, that actually just means your payment method was approved. Nothing else unfortunately.

 

Well, to the extent that it holds a gun to the USA's head because it (1) owns a huge part of America's war and other debt and (b) commands a massive, unprecedented trade surplus, then yes! It in fact IS the USA and IS part of NAFTA.

How would Canada and Mexico suffer if China called our debts and we had to restructure accordingly...?

What do you mean called all of our debts? Macroeconomics teaches us that the economic world and as a result the countries themselves are almost integrally linked. To do something as dumb as 'call our debts' would mean some serious damage to their own country.

Funny I just came across the CNet review and there are 12 user rating comments, yet nobody in the comments owns one yet.

Does anyone else find this annoying? Someone rates something they dont own? Its like someone talking about a Ferrari or Aston Martin and theyve never driven one, just read all about it someone and have to tell thier expert opinion. For the record, Ive driven both cars and owned 1. Never owned a XPS 1330, so I wont claim to know all about it and post ratings.

 

woot woot! i have moved from build, into box, after 11 days in pre production, and 14 days in build, maybe ill actually be seeing my computer before i leave the country. japan order btw. all you US orderers can put the phones down.

 

Well, right, I don't mean it in the sense of a mortgagee...

I mean it metaphorically in the sense of recalculate the USA as a credit risk. Downgrade us, and raise rates, etc.

My point is that China is as a part of the USA as any symbiotically linked economic couple there exists in today's economy. Maybe Canada and USA are better, or Mexico and USA are better, but it is really closely linked. And I hope it isn't like Alien ... like Canada and Mexico obviously are not...

How do I know I am in build stage, the reason I ask is when I ring the hotline (from Australia) it says your order is being built but I only ordered on Sunday and now have a revised order date of the 25th of July (I only paid yesterday). Is this build stage, just seems a bit quick if so.

lol, it has been discussed that maybe they were duped and gave them a CCFL by mistake.

 

Who got the CCFL one? The pictures in that link all showed the LED version as far as I know.

It is built in. Its an option you can choose when configuring the system on Dell's website. Runs you about $20 to get it. Not bad at all.

 

in the set of pics on the other site, the black 1330 has a dell pouch/sleeve, do i have to buy it from dell or does it come shipped in it?

 

I managed to get in finally. Vista sometimes protects you way too much... its like an overprotective parent.

 

The sleeve is said to be in the box for free. it is not listed on the online order status though.

this is bull man I am really starting to hate dell now people who ordered after me are moving faster I ordered 6/27 and sitll in build while other like fiftythree ordered after and got to testing my est. ship date is 8/1 since the start and i have overnight my config is core 2 duo t7500/2gb ram/ 160gb 7200rpm/ 128 nvidia 8400 gs/ led screen/ tuxedo black/ bluetooth/ fingerprint reader/ 9 cell battery.

 

There have been a lot of comments (every three pages or so) about being off topic and the value of a smaller, more relevant thread. I've been reading every post since I ordered 16 Jul and I have to weigh in on the other side. I don't particularly enjoy having to wade through so many posts but I would have to say that the occasional one is amusing or informative. For the other 99%, it's really not all that hard to scan through a page in about 5 seconds and skip obviously unimportant posts. The same skills that help you flick channels should be there to help identify meaty/topical/technical posts without having to read each one. It's really not all that bad and I for one appreciate at least knowing that if someone gets their XPS or has info on when I will, the information will definitely be posted in this thread.

 

I just got an email from the Customer Service rep I got when I went to complain about my ship date, and since this seems to be a new piece of information to this thread, I thought I'd share it:

From the sound of it (because of course their item catalog doesn't recognize that item number), that means the only thing delaying my machine is the Fingerprint reader...
