OK - I just got a new delivery date:

27-Jun - Ordered (paid by money transfer on 28th)
10-Jul - originally alleged shipping date
11-Jul - order appears in the tracking system straight from pre-build into build
Estimated delivery date 26-Jul.
18-Jul Status changed to EDD 25-Jul (Advanced 1 day) but remains in Build.
20th? Phoned to say expect around 26th July
26-Jul - EDD changed to (to be updated - email for more info)
26-Jul - EDD changed to 2-Aug

 

i've been reading for weeks, finally decided to join the fun! I WANT MY XPS!!!!

 

i would think so, it came out 6/26

 

can any1 take a better guess for wut would happen to ppl that ordered in late july like me? still possible september ship dates now that dell is actually producing?

depends on many different factors like what section did you order it from and what discounts did you get. I hear that EPP orders are going to be delayed the longest .

heh i forgot wut epp stands for , but i can tell the entire story of my frustration, which is different kinda. it started while i was ordering this laptop not after.

 

I ordered EPP (not Drake, but my actual real university), US

I also have a pic of my status w/ my unchanged delivery date (Sept 6- I doubt they're shipping any of their other lines this late but I could be wrong) as well as a recording of status over the phone if you know some online place that will host .wav recordings

Corporate contact yesterday we talked for about 30 mins .

 

the xps rep at dell chat kept saying he'll give me a better deal on my laptop so i stayed with him for a bit believing him. then he emails me and says oh now ur new total is 2500 something. i was like wtf u turd... then hes like oh i added warranty and stuff. then i sed i dont need it. he changes it and it goes up to 2600 and this is b4 tax. so i got mad and closed chat. so then he loox up my number and has some1 else call me to get me a better deal. unfortunately i couldn't understand him cuz of the heavy accent so then got some1 new and fixed it all i didnt benefit from this becuz i didnt even get free next day and this happened over the course of 2 hours. fun story?

 

I'm sorry, I can't understand you because of your heavy accent. Perhaps if you typed more slowly. :|

Just got another call from a Dell rep, this time its delay number 5, and will be August 15-17th. She said no WLED LCDs will be available in Australia until that date.

So order date went:

July 18th -> July 23rd -> July 25th -> August 7th -> August 10th -> August 17th

And according to her, my latop hasn't even started to be built.

so much for going to sleep... i found that i could save $200 smackeroos by using apples' education discount. i was still eligible for it because i'm in the masters program at my university. groovy.

anyway, NOW i'll go back to sleep.

also, so much for me migrating to the apple forums... they're lacking in the excitement department a bit. the dell forums have more action.

Ok.. i just called the automated order status and i'm in the TESTING stage!! (USA)

I'm going to try and not get too excited though as i've heard a that a few people have been in boxing for some time (and some have even gone from boxing back to build). I also feel bad for those who ordered in June (but hey so did i... i guess Dell randomly canceling my order helped).

 

how 'bout this? i cancelled the MBP order AGAIN, and retried the order with the education discount. THIS TIME I ADDED THE FREE IPOD OPTION. and it seems to be going through. yippeee...

oh yeah, sorry for going off topic. but risbac wanted something to chat about, so this is the best we can do for now. lol.

Nano's are so freakin small tho. TOO small for my tastes... I think I would loose that thing or crush it with the 1819351 things in my pocket

 

Actually, they add $200 initially to your order for the IPod, then when you get the rebate its like you only got the $200 off the mac. its kind of a gimmick, but hey its a free ipod none-the-less. it kind of makes you think you save even more but thats not the case at all. you break even ipod-wise.

 

What about a worldwide collective action to ask for some compensation from Dell? How many are we here? If we all propose to cancel if something is not made, is it enough to pressure them a bit?

 

Better yet... a class-action law suit that gets us free dell t-shirts.
