Dunno about that, while I am sure there are a few unique buyers here the majority of posts have been coming from a handful of people.

Well someone is excited to hear I ordered the XPS M1330. My brother chopped the jpg I had saved on my desktop and replaced it with this file. He's telling me to custom skin it, and give it to him in a year.
He got the ideas from my cars and banners in the garage. -
somehow i feel the need to be the advocate's devil, having been so satisfied with the sharp quality of my m1210. in the xps dell makes a pretty formidable product. i don't think an occasional slip-up in production, resulting in a few weeks' delay on such an edgy product, is means for crucifixion. i'd bet with their resources, dell will soon begin delivering us a quality product worthy of our admittedly obscessive wait.

Anyways I still have my .wav file if anyone can direct me to a site to load it (says I'm in testing stage but still w/ Sept 6 shipping date; I'll call my rep tomorrow after my class to see why it doesn't reflect the estimated ship date she gave me) -
I am now in the testing stage
I ordered on 6/29 with an estimated shipping date of 7/31 and I am in the USA.
I got all the basic upgrades that everyone is getting LED screen, 7300, 8400M. -
Just checked my status this morning... WTF it has been changed to 4th September from 28th July (ordered on 28th June)
I have emailed my rep and asked to cancel my m1330. This is bang out of order Dell. -

I just got my hands on a real live M1330 at Akihabara. Sorry no pics. Feel free to be sceptical.
However I can say that after looking at just about every laptop model under the sun today, the M1330 is a real stand out. The combination of design, build quality, power, weight and price were better than anything else I saw, at least from the point of view of what I need it for, which is editing large photo files on the fly, and the odd bit of gaming.
The computer was a T7500 processor, WLED, 2gb RAM, NVIDIA GPU config. It had Final Fantasy xi running, which looked very pretty, but the juddery frame rate was not really playable at highest resolution. The touch pad was small, but I reckon you can get used to it after a while.
The media controls were cool, but the volume didn't increase/decrease smoothly - more like in steps. Speakers were quite weak. I couldn't hear any fan noise.
Keyboard was good - I thought as good as the Thinkpad. The soft touch cover was very nice.
The sale rep said there was an eight week wait if I ordered now. I asked him what the likely ship date was for my machine, which I ordered June 3rd - he said end of August, and no way would I get it earlier.
So - dilemma. It's definitely what I hoped it would be, but definitely won't arrive in time for when I need it. -

There have been rumours about heat but the 2.4GHz processor remains an option in a number of countries.
There was speculation that NVIDIA graphics plus 2.4 GHz plus other peripherals might draw too much power for the 4-cell battery.
But basically we don't know. -
-
-
The M1330 I saw at the kiosk with the 7700 was running on a 6-Cell battery.

-
Ok, the first one I ordered back on June 28th has gone to boxing. Looks like I will have a second M1330 by next week. I'm betting we'll have a lot of new owners with laptops delivered next week.
-
Can any reasonable price-drop for the CPUs be expected? An upgrade is freaking expensive right now and the 1.5 Ghz thing blows.
-
"AN INQ READER said Dell has told him it's suffering a shortage of keyboards after he asked for a replacement for his M1330."
He must already have his, if its a replacement.
The shortage doesnt mean they dont have any, just they wont replace his cos theyre all being used for new orders!
Funny, to say the least! -
If you can't, bit the bullet and stick it on your card.
I hear USA are doing 12 months interest free? - Wish that was on option in G B -
Oh now you're just being greedy cliegal
Although I hope you're right about lots of new owners!
On another note, I've just emailed a manager at Dell UK to try to get a concrete answer as to when my laptop will arrive. I'll keep you posted on his response. I never got that phone call they promised me either, though they DO still have 50 minutes left to make it... Doubt they will. -
Cliegal - how is the 0.3Mpixel Webcam and the LED screen?

Cheers bud -
Might have been in the dell manual? Not too sure where i saw it -
I've been in contact with a manager at Dell corporate who's been quite helpful so far. I'm hoping to get some updates today. You know, just any information about the real reason for these delays and not the stuff told to us by the reps, who would have us believe everything from the CPU to the video card to the top left corner screw holding the motherboard to the chassis is delayed or in short supply.

Actually made me think about ordering a privacy protector foil to limit the viewing angle when on an airplane. -
With all these delays you would think that they are hand crafting our displays out of the finest handblown glass, our cases out of mahogany, and infusing our processors with the blood of the elusive Yetti.
-
Notebook viewing angles are usually noticeably smaller than desktop LCDs. Example: the LCD screen for the XPS has 80° of horizontal angles, 45° on vertical angles. LED has 100° and 90°. A basic Acer 20' LCD screen has 160/160. It's only specs, it needs to be measured, but that's also what I read from various webpages. Usually viewing angles on notebook go from poor to medium. So I do'nt expect the LED to be as good as my 20' LCD, but at least to be decent, not like some latitude I tried from Dell.

I've been reading these forums for awhile but I thought I'd finally post.
My order (US) was placed 7/4/2007 Estimated ship date 8/2/2007. I've called the automated order line for the last week and since I've called it was in build stage. Between last night and this morning it went directly from build stage to boxing. Estimated ship date is still 8/2/2007 I'm hoping it'll actually ship early, but who knows.
My build was:
CCFL* LCD Screen - 2MP CAM
Black Mattle Casing
2GB
T7500 2.2ghz
Nvidia 8400
120GB HDD
Vista Premium Home
Bluetooth
6Cell Battery
And the rest standard/minimum
Woo! -
Another black goes to boxing...I am telling you, the problem is in the color of the casing...not one red or white has gone to Boxing!!!
-
-
-
I can't wait for an actual user review and the tests on bat life with diff settings/conditions.
-
*oops, your are right, he did order the CCFL...hmmm, wonder if cliegal and tileman got CCFL. -
So I choose the black case cause at least it looks consistant.
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
