Are any of the orders that have gone to boxing EPP orders?
Seems like Dell is beginning to ramp up production...
-
-
cliegal and tileman got LED.
-
Has your m1330 gone into boxing yet, you went in testing on the 24th. My m1330 was in testing for about 3-4 hours and then went into boxing, but it's been stuck there since last Friday.
-
mine is in pre-production since the 16th...
-
on the pictures it looks like ccfl and not led
-
I edited my post so there would be no confusion on the screen. I was suprised to see that they had gotten the LED screen shipped. Figure that they had to have atleast some supply of the LED's before production, we've just only seen 2 people who got theirs.
-
Those laptops have the LED screen.
-
Then it would be a mac!
-
Is there a pic around of the led and lcd screen together to see the difference in thickness?
-
That's what my rep suggested me doing since the delivery dates he has been giving people that order are all in mid-August. At least it would be better than my ship date of Aug 30. It's worth a shot, and then just cancel one when the other arrives. It seems that the DVD drive and 9-cell are delaying my order for 16 days
-
Don't we qualify for any offers within 30days of our ship date? I think I'll call up and have this added
.
-
Still in build stage this morning. Upsetting seeing people who ordered after me 7/5 and 7/16 get to testing and boxing stages.
-
I and others think dell might have got their orders wrong as well. The screen looks to god damn thick on those pics for an LED, i mean however thick will the CCFL be if that really is LED!!!!!!!
-
My order went into boxing this morning too.
-
i wonder if my brother's m1330 went to boxing or testing or shipping yesterday or today... i'll check soon.
-
no, Asus released a W7J series (white edition) which is completely white too.
-
Or we've all been fooled by Dell's pictures, the LED is thick... the CCFL is even thicker??
scary thought.
-
Are you in US? I think this promotion is for US... Why does US have all the discounts and promotion?!!?!
-
we've all seen that, just need some real world tests.

That is the link to the PCMagazine review pic. The model had an LED screen. Looks pretty much the same to me.
EDIT: For comparison: http://techiscool.com/Pictures/P7230085.png -
I asked this question back when I think the m1330 red dummy pics were posted. I said how the LED LCD looked way too thick and no where near the thin led lcd's that Sony uses
also 3 days left now for my est and I am STILL in the build stage!!!!!!!!!!! and I ordered June 27th! shouldn't my order be one of the first to ship!?!?! -
I was wondering... "ship separately".... maybe they think that they can ship the bag straight away and then the purchaser is less likely to cancel when the laptop is delayed? - I guess they have to return the bag in that situation?
-
Drake still has the 2.4ghz processor option.
-
Does this display look slim to you?

I know all the reviewers said the LED screen was "Wafer" thin. Perhaps an exaggeration.
-
are you kidding? I've ordered the 9th of July and I'm still in pre-production! -
Here's the Vaio TZ for comparison (another LED screen):

WTF even for a LCD its rather thick!
-
I've ordered a LCD by the way...
-
we are in the same boat
someone that ordered on the 26th just went to testing last night though -
and another comparison :

Well, scheduled to deliver tomorrow...still in build stage.
-
Hi, I ordered mine on july 4th, and got confirmation that it's shipping from factory today, expected to arrive next week.
It has almost all possible options, LED screen, Nvidia graphics card, bluetooth, Intel 802.11n, 2 GB RAM, so it seems that Dell has received all needed parts by now.
Note: This laptop was built at Ireland factory and has to be delivered to Spain -
did you get a tracking number or did someone call you and told you it would ship in 2-3 days?
-
I think after reading the reviews it got our hopes up about how thin the screen was, only to find out after seeing pics of it that it is not as thin as we had hoped. I knew that it wasn't going to be as thin as Sony's LED screens but man they do look kind of thick. Almost looks the same as my Toshiba. Remember the LCD version is only 1-3 mm thicker. That's not a huge difference

hey guys! ive followed this thread since I started looking at the 1330 back in the beginning of july and I must say this is the most active thread Ive ever seen and I have enjoyed reading all of it. Anyways, I bought my m1330 on july 18, went into build july 23. esd is 9/6. my config is in my signature.
other useful information that i have gathered:
Note (my csr is a dell b2b rep. he manages my companys account (lots spent annually)
1) when I ordered, he made it clear that there was a 31 business day lead time for an esd of 9/6. reason, new model.
2) I called him yesterday concerning the 4 cell incompatability since I ordered a 4+9cell. he said that he was aware of it and advised me to leave my order alone (as to not disturb my esd), let the 4 cell ship, then as soon as I recieve the laptop to call him and tell him that the 4 cell doesnt work and that he would overnight a 6 or 9 cell replacement free. he also gave me an update on the lead time. he said that the reason for all the delays has been the led displays, dispite what other rumors are out there. he also said that this week they began to recieve shipments of the displays and that the lead time should be cut significantly. he did not give me a new esd, but made it clear that it (and other m1330's) would most likely ship early and that the esd was pushed way out to 9/6 as a worst case scenario because of all the issues with the ones that have esd's around this week.
just fyi. i plan to keep reading this thread and posting status updates and other new info i can get out of my csr. -
I saw a dummy one and it didn't look super thin but still very nice for a dell
-
do we have any pictures of the LCD display so that we can compare?
-
The WLED display should be about 6mm thick (less than a quarter of an inch thick). At cnet.com the review does show the LCD to be quite slim tho:

im calling del today..to see if i can get some info or SOMETHIN
esp since a rep said id haev it within a week! -
I called twice and they said that it was leaving factory today. It has not reached UPS yet, so they cannot provide a tracking number.
I expect that the people on the Dell support phone know what they are talking about because Dell Order Status page keeps showing it on "pre-production" and August 31 as delivery date. -
are you in the states? considering it takes like a day to fly over to the US from malaysia, likely hood of delay is high, I have a feeling mine will be delayed also.
-
The Inquirer is not a really reliable source though.
-
Unless you call round rock you are waisting your time cause peon Dell reps don't know anything . -
It looks the same as the PCMagazine review unit which had an LED screen. It also looks the same as the CNET review unit, but at a closer/different angle.
-
I have a quick question... i'm contemplating switching my order from the standard LCD to LED... will it be worth it?
-
YES
but at the same time if you have a good shipping date and need it now, no -
Ive created this to help
-
I honestly think its more a gadget for the price...
-
Looks the same to me.
