Wow??!!! Are you saying cliegal got an LCD instead?!!! That is what I thought when I saw the picture when it was posted, but later someone said that he ordered an LED.... Rather disturbing.
-
nice but how do we know that the screens are at the same scale?
-
true, but those don't look the same to me. And they weren't taken from the same side, don't know if it makes a difference tho
-
oops i meant i ordered it june 27th, that was a month ago!
also it looks like the led lcd and ccfl lcd might actually be the same thickness. I was hoping for somethign super thing like the sony line especially the sony line like the 11.1 witht he graphite outside, that thing is as thin as 10 sheets of paper lol -
they are the same scale lol otherwise it would be pretty pointless
-
Yeah because one is in solid silver while the other looks to have some black too. The lines he drew are the same length/incredibly close.
Maybe the LEDs that are thinner don't have the camera.
EDIT: And my ruler also says they are the same size. 1/2 an inch. Which you are right is thicker than the 1/4 inch Dell has been quoting but that could be due to scale. -
Optical illusion, that.
-
Well, I contacted Dell via chat and they will no longer assist. I was told please call Dell at whatever number. Very useful.
-
ok so how is it possible there is a huge difference like that! it seems like cliegal screen is 50% thicker than the Dell one?
-
hold on, ill post all including orginals so you can see
-
actually ill do it in a seperate thread, hold on
-
I agree, looks thicker to me... is there a way to run some kind of program that will say what the screen manufacturer/screen type is... that's the only way we'll know... Dell might be scamming us and using the same frame for both?
-
you should be able to tell easily by how fast it comes on from being in an off position and i mean the screen how fast it lights up should be instant as opposed to the ccfl which takes a while to go from off to fully lit.
-
Did we have any order status changes this morning ?
-
looks like the dell LED is thinner...but may just be me....her pics compared to the dummy pictures on techiscool's site look different too....need to download a program to have it scan the computer and it should come back with what type of screen it is....so to those two of you that have gotten the laptop download "everest home edition" and it will show you all the parts you have
-
well cant wait to see that update today from the dell blog.
-
I don't have a ruler at hand but yeah those look different to me.
Actually Dell roughly describes the dimension of LED screens with small print on the order page - only 0.1 inch thinner, i think its difficult to tell by photos. -
So.. uh.. if your online order now says Bill to: N/A and ship to: N/A.. .. that's bad, right?
-
Thread now here for the LED issue:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=146565
This thread gets more off topic by the day
-
I received the same call about 3 times since last Friday and it's still in the boxing stage. Call the automated status line (1800-433-9014) and let us know what it says.
-
I guess Dell uses Windoze machines...
-
lcd from engadget
vs
LED from notebookreview
-
I think you need to look at the top of the screens. Where the curve is.
-
hmm, post them in the other thread if you will, i see a big difference there too!
-
@ FGLRXandYou
Mine says the same thing... I can get through the order number right now either -
Well, just called up Dell, they're getting a new ship date because they will not meet the date they gave me. They informed me again that there are no palm rests and my laptop will not move on until Dell receives a shipment of that. My case is being worked up in a higher management level and they will contact me when they get a new ship date and will also tell me the date the palmrests are estimated to arrive. I also informed them that I am paying around $100 in extra shipping charges because I had to change the address to have my parents ship it out to me via plane as opposed to boat shipment. I have been moved back into pre-production.
-
Just spoke to a friend at Dell. He says it is a 2 week lead time (about 6 days ago) on the LED screens and it is an industry wide issue. I actually was trying to get advice to change my order to instock products, but he said it wouldnt matter. Dont go changing your orders!
-
That's terrible news. Sorry man...
-
Sig updated again.
-
I am having the same problem as FGLRXandYou and ebs5d
-
MAYBE THEY ARE SHIPPING OUR ORDERS... or probably not
-
Out of curiousity did yall order epp, i did?
-
i did too which scares me.
-
Ok, front page updated as well...I can't believe I'm back in pre-production. !!@#@@#!@!! So much for ordering on the 26th. If I didn't want this laptop so bad over Sony, I would have canceled.
-
same here only reason hdmi.
-
I have the same problem too and my laptop is in the boxing stage.
-
You also been moved back into pre-production from build?
-
I just tried to get Dell to apply this new "Free Timbuk2 bag" offer to my existing order, since I was thinking about getting one anyway. They said that I would have to cancel and re-order pushing my estimated ship date back to 9/6.
I'm going to keep trying by email the rep that I placed the order with and see if they can do anything, because watching good deals go by while I sit here waiting for my laptop is starting to get frustrating. -
no not yet and hopefully wont I have a est. delivery date of 8/1 so still have time.
-
I in dell chat now hopefully they can answer... doubt it though
-
Someone said a few pages ago that there are really only about 15 people posting in this thread. Generally speaking, there's 10 lurkers for every poster who are probably in the same situation. I've read this thread but not posted because I don't actually know the status of my order. I ordered my system through my workplace on 6/26 and still haven't received it. The person who handles it on my end, who is quite busy but excited to see the new hardware, has a "it'll get here when it gets here" attitude, which is fine really. I'm not the only one to order one at my work so at least I'm not alone in the boat. In any case, here's what I ordered if anyone was wondering.
Dell XPS M1330
Tuxedo Black
T7700 2.4GHz
2gb ram
200GB 7200 RPM hard drive
nVidia 8400M GS 128mb DDR3
LED Backlit LCD, no camera
9 cell battery
N-draft wireless -
ok so the dell chat lady said that she could see my billing and shipping address so i not as worried... she quoted them to me as well... I will call this afternoon just to double check but i am in work right now.
-
I agree. Thank you!
-
Oh why is your status page cooler than mine? I don't get pictures, or even a mention of manufactuing build.
-
its cos a large chunk of the population of Oz struggles with reading
-
No Kitting or testing?
-
Yes and no. Even if its unlikely, I like to pretend some people (more than 2) are enjoying their M1330, somewhere, somehow.
-
No =( Just Processing - In Production - or - Shipped
-
Well, I guess you can't be disappointed by going back into pre-production.
-
You always say that HCW. What useful info have they given you recently?
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
