Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped

Alright, a friend told me about this thread, so I joined to let you know that my order went into boxing, as well. I've ordered on June 29th via my university site, regular specs incl. LED screen, and this morning it appears to be in boxing (not sure about the dates for previous stages). Can anyone tell me how long does the 1330 take to box and ship?

 

I am not worried the same thing happened over at slickdeals when I posted the truth. Seems like people are scared of the truth for some reason. I want everybody to receive there laptops also but I will not surger coat things to make some internet friends. Have a great day and good luck

I canceled my dell xps, which I had ordered in late June (and ended up reordering FOUR times because of the incompetence of Dell Customer Service) and went out yesterday and bought myself a MacBook Pro!

Simply went there and picked it up from the store! If you're going to college, they give you awesome deals which I definitely think is worth considering.

I got the 15 inch MacBook Pro

2.4 Ghz, T7700
160GB 5400RPM
NVIDEA 8600GT 256MB Memory
LED Backlit screen (non glossy)
2GB RAM
Slot Loading DVD drive
BEAUTY

Original price is $2500. Student discount knocks off $200, so it was $2300 (NOT a rebate). They also give you a free $100 printer (you pay first and then get $100 rebate). AND, they also give you FREE 4GB Ipod Nano (again, you pay first and get $200 rebate). Lastly, their Apple Care plan is normally about $350. If you are a student, you can get it for $250. All you need is proof that you're going to college next year.

Pretty awesome in my opinion (especially since I'm selling the nano for another $180 and getting 2 more GB of RAM).

The only downside is that the screen is 15 inches. I was hoping to get a smaller one, but nonetheless, I am VERY satisfied. VERY powerful and remember, you can use windows natively if that's holding you back!

I know I'm a traitor, but you guys should consider it! The delay on this XPS is ridiculous, and I've never seen anything like it.

BTW, you have to got an actual apple store to get these deals.

 

i have no clue...i really wasnt even going to call the status line for awhile but i couldnt help myself...it was a nice surprise...I've only complained once and it really wasnt anything but saying i needed it for school and my originial ship date was a good 2 1/2 weeks earlier...they put in a request for nbd shipping but i dont think it went through..and thats ok lol

Congrats on the boxing process speed up. I think everyone here is just trying to contribute what they know. I believe there's such a big mess down at Dell right now I doubt even the managers know what's going exactly every minute. So it is possible what one person tell you may differ. I don't think Dell would only have 1 manager taking all your calls whenever a sales/rep puts you over the line and so info discrepancies can happen. So is anyone "wrong"? Not really. It could be that one manager just happened to be more updated than another at that time. So now we can rest this case.

wow. im shocked. after 23 days in limbo, my order is finally moving along nicely. went to boxing yesterday, and today it shipped! sadly, ive already left the country an di wont get it til around the 13th of august. i can have someone send some pics though, to keep me happy

One thing that closed that door for me: my school does not support Macs. It not that big of a deal, unless you are taking a test with your laptop and something goes wrong. They don't support it, you get a zero.

No one knows how long it will be to ship. Not even Dell. Just assume its the ESD I guess.

 

i had a macbook pro for about a week and a half before returning it because of how hot it gets really sucks plus eventhough its light still a hassle to carry around because of the size of the thing.

they are all LCD...so im guessing you mean it is a CCFL screen...if so is that confirmed?

 

Im still hoping for this but mine is coming up fast and still in build while others are moving to boxing so fast.

Yeah law school. Any lost time in essay exams will kill me.

 

14 days but 10% restocking fee although I called my credit card company and had that restocking fee reimbursed.

 

I just got through the past 23 pages that have come up since I went to bed. Really quite interesting with the whole LED vs. non-LED display thickness.

I just checked my order status' and of course my first order is still in build, and my 2nd order has been stuck in pre-production for TWENTY-FIVE days now.

 

My XPS was through EPP!

 

Sure cant compare that to dell now can you???

Total satisfaction = Try for 30 days then if you just dont like it, return it their cost and get 100 percent of your money back...

Thats just the tip of Dell warranties in the XPS world.

maybe dell is taking care of us legit EPP buyers since they know school is right around the corner...would make sense...maybe im gettnig special care in texas too since this is where dell first started, haha

 

Tileman...Cliegal got the wrong screen part....are you sure you got yours right(meaning LED lcd)???

 

i agree the macbook pro was a beautiful machine dont get me wrong it was very sexy and very fast and powerful even when running windows vista ultimate it was great but the heat issues really messed it up for me it would get so unbearably hot even when just using the internet or just idling I couldnt handle that.

 

Yeah. Huge plus to me. I just like feeling like the company's goal is to please the customer. Despite the delays, I don't hate Dell. They just underestimated their sweet design.

 

It's confirmed. Cliegal confirmed on the other thread. She's getting a replacement.

What about the dead pixel? Cliegal's 1330 got shipped with a CCFL LCD by mistake even tho she ordered LED one.

 

And as for the screen mistake... she simply contacts XPS Support now, they initiate a new order and she keeps that one until it arrives. When it arrives, she can just switch hard drives if he wishes.

Further, I bet she can now get a bonus HD upgrade thrown in.

They are replacing my whole screen due to the dead pixel. I had to throw a pretty good fit because they usually don't replace the screen unless there are at least 5. I told them its BS to expect some one to buy a preimium product and it come with a flaw right out of the box!

 

I guess the LCD was thin enough to fool most people.. as we were all believers for almost two days?

To stay with the warranty issue, is there a company out there with a better warranty program than Dell??

You can get Next Business Day On Site which is well worth it. I have been through 3 motherboards, 3 hard drives, two fan/heat sinks, 2 DVDs and 2 batteries with my Screamin m1210 and each part came the next day or the repair guy was here the next day (3 visits)

And Complete Care for 3 Years come on!!!! Does anyone else have this???

alright, Tileman's thing appears to have the real thing I just hope the replacement won't be a CCFL

Oh, for the future reference, you can check the screen urself in device properties. Hardware id for CCFL will prolly indicate a AU Optronics screen, while LED one will have Chi Mei (anyone heard of the latter?)

 

Tileman...i think its OK....because of that 0.3Mpixel cam(only comes with LED screen)

Cliegal got the AU OPTRONICS LCD with 2Mpixel cam...ps AU OPTRONICS LCD parts really suck(cheapest thing around EVER -why in a dell PREMIUM product???? -)

 

When I saw her pics I assumed she didn't have the LED.
