I just got off the phone with a Dell case manager regarding my order.
My m1330 went from Build (7/16/07) to Testing (7/20/07 morning) to Boxing (7/20/07 afternoon). As of today my laptop hasn't shipped.
So, I contacted Dell and was escalated to a Dell case manager to find out why my m1330 was taking so long in Boxing.
He contacted Dell operations/manufacturing about my order and why it was still in Boxing. Apparently my laptop is still waiting a part, the LID. He says it was built and tested but did not have the LID, and should arrive August 10th.
Somehow i don't believe Dell would start building a system without all the parts. I ordered the Black case.
This is my 7th day in the Boxing stage, my phone status hasn't changed, and it still hasn't shipped. -
What a pain in the A55!

i hope this doesnt happen to me....i'll call later, if they tell me the same thing i'll make sure i get nbd shipping because now that i have a chance of getting it before i have to go move in for school...i want to be sure it stays like that

If I remember correctly, once your order moves into the boxing stage...they cannot upgrade the shipping. Even if the rep says they have upgraded to to nbd and it says so online according to the order status page, it will still come it the original shipment method. I have heard of many people complain about that. The reason is as soon as the computer goes into the boxing, the shipping label is printed here in the US and tagged onto the box with all the extra accessories you ordered, once the computer arrives, they just take the small box and place it in the bigger box and ship it out.

By lid they could mean the entire top including the LED/CCFL and that would be consistant with what we've been hearing.
It does make sense that this is a sub assembly that could be built independantly of the other half (unsing a completely different manufacturer).
At least you're in box. -

It really is a crock that some of us ordered within minutes of the M1330 being available on June 26th, and are still "in production" whereas others ordered the same spec system 3+ weeks later and are in boxing stage. I am glad that people are receiving theirs, but this really is a crock.

Once I read the update I might just go ahead and cancel. I am considering getting a D630 now since Dell already has my money. Plus it can ship within a week.

Still in the build stage. I'm going to hold on to the hope that I get moved to testing or boxing until tomorrow around this time and then I'm going to draft an email to that Mike Dell email as well.
I don't care if other customers get there laptop before me as long as mine gets shipped on the estimated shipping date (okay so maybe I do a little, but I'll be content if that happens), but if others get there's and my mine doesn't ship I'm going to furious. Not so much at those who ordered around 6/28, 29 and the 30th. Mostly at those with July 5th and 11th type dates. I still can't see any reason why someone who ordered in July should get their laptop before those of us who ordered on the first day.
Next tuesday will be my 5th week to the day waiting for this infernal machine. I'm in a pretty crappy position here, there's nothing that really compares to this - the macbook pro runs on OSX which annoys me and it's too heavy. The sony isn't out yet and I need laptop for law school asap, so I can't, and don't really want to, cancel. I just wish there was a way to get Dell to stop jerking us around. And I don't want free coupons or sleeve, that stuff is useless to me, I just want my stupid laptop.
