I wrote a letter to him a few hours ago and sent it.

your letter is my inspiration
-
If you guys honestly believe Michael Dell has ANYTHING to do with raw shipping and reasons/excuses, you're all sorely mistaken. But hey, if you read it online, it has to be true.
-
the 15-inch macbook pro isn't too bad weight-wise. its just a bit more than a pound heavier than the xps m1330 is with the 6-cell battery. it is bigger though. you get the best of both worlds: something thats portable, and powerful as well. there is the education discount that you can get with the mac too. saves you $200 plus you can opt for a free ipod nano (after the rebate of course).
-
... no, I did mention about that, but that was not the focus of the letter. I focused on better planning for product launches and better communication with the customers.
-
From what gathered, it seems there are a bunch of corporate lackeys who check that email and respond to issues. It's worth a shot. Frankly, I'll try anything to avoid the average CSR who knows nothing and will tell you anything to get you off the phone. It's not their fault that they aren't in the loop in regard to the M1330's production (or lack thereof) but it's still like banging your head against a brick wall.
-
dbam, go away! we don't need your preaching here
-
I really want the update at Direct2Dell to happen before i go to work at 1:00.
-
They do have a corporate team that reads them
Anyone up for some chat ? -
Turn that frown aroun' my man! Moving to NYC is cause for celebration!
-
Yeah, it's a pretty good deal, but it's not for me. I already have an ipod and can't be bothered to ebay it. And like I said, I'm not a fan of OS X. I've tried it, used it for several hours while working at my college's newspaper and I'm just not a fan.
-
... not when it costs you SO MUCH MONEY!
-
lol, sorry sorry. i won't say anything more about it. promise.
-
True dat, true dat.
But free wireless to gather in with your Wi-Fi catcher once you get your 1330! Go sit under the trees at Bryant Park behind the NY Public Library and surf away your cares... -
Be careful not to get burned dbam when the macbook pro begins overheating.
-
thanks for the warning, but i should be ok with it resting on my lap, providing soothing heat for my thighs. same thing happens with any laptop these days.
-
Is wifi catcher built in or.... is it some component that I'm not aware of -
I prefer secure Wifi
-
it's built in!
-
I am trying to get chat going but everybody must be working hard so they can pay for there 1330's
-
yeah thats what i was doing but now im done so....2 hours of nothing to do, haha
-
Ok, I will wait until Aug 10th, and if there's still nothing good happen to my M1330, I will go straight to the Apple store and pick up a MBP and iPod nano on the MA tax free weekend (that is Aug 11 and 12) with my student ID...End of story!
-
I'll be there shortly...
-
yeah but the heat is not like the macbook pro at least when i had it and yes it was the newer model. I couldnt even put it on my lap at times but if you can I guess thats already a victory.
-
wait, are you saying the 13.3-inch MacBook's overheat? Or are you saying the MBP's are the ones that overheat?
-
Who cares this is an m1330 thread... take your Mac stuff somewhere else.
-
ok the dell canada numbers dont even work!!!
-
I received a call from Dell saying my laptop has just been shipped out, although no changes both on phone and online status. I am still waiting for my tracking number.
-
thats good news... the more and more people who start getting status updates and shipment notifications, the easier people like Blahdude and Apple2PC can breathe.
-
Is anyone on here who ordered before the start of July still in pre-production like I am? I would be fine with my 8/23 ship date, but it sounds like a lot of people are at least in the build state. I don't want it auto-canceled.
-
wow maybe they will call me too!
-
any new people get theirs within the last day.... or are we still at two people?? i'm not about to read the last 1000+ posts lol
-
Congrats!!!!
-
haha i read the last 1000 posts. it was actually very informing
-
So I got off the phone with my new CSR. He basically told me that my orders have not been progressing because they see 2 identical orders on my record and so they want confirmation that I actually want both machines built. He told me that if I cancel one of the orders, the other will progress in production process. So I canceled the duplicate order and now just have my original 6/28 order in the build stage.
Hopefully now I will see some progress. -
Still not breathing well... I might pass out soon.
-
blahdude is in chat but don't let that stop you from joining
-
unfortunately, the corporate firewall is prevent me from joining.
-
I am? ... no I'm not. The chat app keeps over-heating my laptop
-
kmatzen - I would be worried. Most people go straight through to Build as soon as the financing is cleared. My status looks like this:
Date Delivery_Status
11-Jul-2007 Order Received
11-Jul-2007 Order released to manufacturing
11-Jul-2007 Work in Progress
(I actually ordered and paid around 28th June - by money transfer) -
kmatzen - Did you buy by EPP or educational discount? Maybe that involves some eligibility checking after all the kerfuffle at product launch.
-
I called and they told me there's a back order on mine =/ Estimated shipping date is "unknown" and I was told I'm going to get a call back from dell on August 10th on updates to see if my machine is in production or not.
-

Educational discount. -
I really wouldn't worry about it . People placed orders in June shouldn't be worried untill we get into august -
If he was in Build there would be nothing to worry about - but is it normal to be in the Pre- phase for long?
