I'm in the same boat as you but even worse. I just chatted with Customer Care and they told me that the green lids were on backorder. So I ask, when will my new ESD be? He tells me 09/04, same as it originally was. How can you tell me that a part on my order is backordered and yet, you're still going to ship it in three days? Absolutely ridiculous! I went in happy go lucky and came out frustrated and with a headache that is only now leaving! I should have never chatted in/contacted them. I should have just waited.

Well I ordered a 1520, in green and when I ordered they had nothing about delays... Well mine is delayed about 1 month Dell should be up front when placing the order. Any ways I called the 800 number to ask why it was delayed and they said the color issue. Any ways I got a free up grade to over night shipping.... so that kind of cool, but damn I want my lap top. BTW this laptop replaces my 1999 Dell 5000e 300MHz 256 ram 16MEG graphix card, 9 gig hard drive that I paid $2500 that finally died about a month or two ago.

But...Since I've been so bored waiting for my machine, I have re-built the same machine a few times to see any price changes(way up) and shipping dates.
I'm pretty sure I built one on the 27th and when I clicked the green cover option it said...May Delay order...and it showed an estimated ship date of 9/27

Spring Green here.....ordered 7/26, backordered for third time to 9/10...we'll see what happens...never mind that my daughter needs it at college, which started on 8/17...thanks Dell...for the great services...JERKS!

 

Mine's due for shipping in 4 days, but it's still in production. Highly doubt I'll ever see my notebook in time for school.

 

I reordered mine and when I was picking colors all said "may delay order" except for black, white...and guess what...GREEN...so if I kept my order I probably would've gotten it next week, great, juust great.

 

Well, if you kept your order, it would probably come earlier than your new order, regardless. However, I wouldn't trust the delays they post on their website.

 

I would love to see some of these rejected for bad color notbook skins. I would be willing to bet that they would be exceptable by 75% of us waiting.

 

I've been in boxing since 08/30. Looks like I probably won't get mine until Wednesday at the earliest.

I see many of you have received yours and they were ordered after this one for my daughter. She started university on 8/11/07. So a month almost with nothing. I call DELL everyday and am actually beginning to believe that they are being punitive and malicious toward this order. I've asked them about this and of course they deny it, but how do you explain orders placed 3 weeks later being received?

My daughter dearly wants this spring green. I've tried to talk her into cancelling but she really wants this one.

Yippee! My laptop has shipped and is in Sparks, NV too! With overnight shipping, I hope to have it on Tuesday.

 

If people from mid to late July are just now getting theirs, with the few exceptions (sorry), is it safe to assume that my ship date of 9/4 will be met?

I think its safe to say mine will not be here for a couple of more weeks. I'm thinking either the week of 9/16 or 9/23. Atleast, I hope. Fingers crossed!

Yay!! i almost can't believe it!!! Mine went into boxing on thursday night, which i thought was a mistake b/c they gave me an updated 9/27 ship date that morning, but then tonight it said "shipped" and gave me a tracking number!!! Looks like it will be here on tuesday!!! I'M SOOOO FREAKING HAPPY!!!

 

FYI... it's just possible that DELL has a metric which measures their performance on how many "pushes" each customer receives. So, in order to minimize the pushes, they start using parts ordered for earlier customers to fulfill the demands for later orders. This minimizes the actual number of customers experiencing pushes, but sacrifices the older orders/customers. So not a true metric, but a number they can hold up and say "even through this, only X number of people were effected." Problem is, I'm one of the "X's".

Would someone care to comment?

Ok... I'm on day 50, and tomorrow is another ESD, although I don't think it's for my laptop. I think it's for the router I order. I think my laptop is for 9-10. Oh, well. Have to see what happens tomorrow.

 

So, I noticed with the 1520s and 1521s they don't offer the antiglare screens and the wireless-n cards anymore. Actually, I noticed that awhile ago, just too lazy to say post it. So, what does that mean for my order? Do I still get an anti-glare screen and a wireless-n card? Or will they say "Gee, we have to change your order, and send you all the way back to the end of the waiting list" or something like that.

 

My first delay and I called Dell. Unforeseen problems? Do you guys read the internet, this problem has been around for a while. But what really irks me is that if you re-order it on the web today it only changes my delivery 5 days. They are clearly lying to new customers.

Just received my Spring Green laptop. Still doing initial setup.

 

T1700, 2GB, 8600GT, WSXGA+ screen, Green (obviously), 160GB 7200RPM, Vista Premium.

Ordered it 7/25. Supposed to ship 9/10 and get here 9/11. I don't know how long it has been in boxing. I checked for the first time on Tuesday. I was reading on another thread that boxing usually takes 2-3 days. Is that correct?

 

Mine's still in boxing. The next flight out of Taipei to Anchorage is tomorrow morning so I should get it the following day.

 

And it just arrived!!!

Ordered 7/20 current estimated ship date 9/10.... how long will this go on???? When I called about 2-3 weeks ago they said it was the green top that was holding everything up. I asked if I changed it to black would it ship sooner. They said that they would have to cancel the original order and start over and the new orders weren't shipping until some time in September (this was early to mid August) so I decided to keep the green. 48 days and counting.......

 

I've lost count of the days, but I am very sure it will be over two months before this thing ships to me.

Customer Care is not very helpful. They follow a script and that's it. Get better answers talking to a recording. I've asked them to send me an update of the charges for this order since they tell me I am not paying for shipping, they seem to ignore that. Is that so difficult? Further, I ask them why it says 3-5 day shipping online, but they tell me shipping is next business day - which is what I paid for.

 

My total wait was 51 days - I finally got my laptop last night! Yippee!!! I had to pick it up at the DHL office since no one was home to sign for it. On the way home, I kept worrying that I might get in a car wreck and never get to actually touch it!

So far, the wait was worth it and I really love it. The only things I've noticed so far are the flimsy latch and wobbly battery that others have mentioned. Neither of these issues are a big deal to me.

My LCD screen is great - not grainy at all! If anything, when using the power cable with default settings, the screen is too bright for me. I just changed the brightness to a lower setting.

I got a call from a CSR manager yesterday who said someone would be calling me about compensation. I'll believe that when I get the call.

 

Same here. Had to run to DHL after work to get mine yesterday, as nobody was home at the time they attempted delivery.

Unfortunately for me, my laptop wouldn't boot. After talking to tech support for a while, they determined my motherboard was dead. 50+ days of waiting to get a computer that doesn't even work.

They're sending a replacement/exchange system that I should get within 1-5 business days, apparently. I guess I did get the runt of the litter.

 

Mine shipped today!!! I got overnight delivery from a CSR in early August, but the dell website says it'll be here next week. No tracking info available. Up until today, it said that it would be delivered the day after it shipped. What gives?? Will it be here tomorrow?

 

My daughter got hers last night. She really likes it.
