someone who knows corrects this Update? because it does not say much on the website. Thank you

Doesn't appear for me when I put in my Service code. If it appears when you put your code in, use it. If you're any way hesitant create a restore point first.
They rarely give much info, but they're not going to release something harmfull.
EDIT: Wait, that's dated June - it's not new at all!
I would presume it's already on the system -
I noticed this update as well for the Studio 1537. I haven't received mine yet but I've been researching what drivers I need to download and reinstall after I reformat and do a clean install of Vista. I'm a bit confused about the part that says "If you are reinstalling the operating system it is important that this software be installed first." Does that imply it's a firmware upgrade? If it's software it'll just be deleted when I reformat so how do I install it prior to the reinstallation of the OS?
Bill : ) -
Well so far I love it, the keyboard is a little squishier than my Toshiba and theres heaps more flex but those are barely complaints just differences...
I actually love Vista so far :O
I'll post pics if anyones interested in seeing the pink -
Yeah, if you wanna post 'em I'll lop 'em into my thread. It's a bit of a flop, cos most people use this instead (I didn't know this one existed when I made it), but it still has all the colours in one place (thread link in sig)

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Received my Studio 15 a month back(t9300 4 gig ddr2 800 mhz 1920x1200 screen hd 3450 and every other imaginable upgrade) but as i am away from the country right now im extremely anxious and excited to go home in three days and get to play with it my question is now that the 1537 is out does it improve on all the faults of the 1535 (as i have not even seen mine yet as a matter of fact it is still in the box) and if i could just get a complete list of things to check over when i actually get to it to look it over would be great thanx very much!
-
In my opinion, if you're looking for something paranoid-ly you'll find something. Just play with it for as long as you can - if there's something wrong you'll notice. For eg, if you've like, a dead/stuck pixel in like, the corner or somethin, chances are you won't notice unless you search for it.

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Ya, I see what your saying, but the thing is I'm attending school out of the country, and I will be in the states for only one month 23rd of Dec. to 20th of Jan. so I need to look it over and if there is anything wrong I would have to deal with it right away(because dell seems to take forever ordered this laptop on Oct. 10 got it Nov. 20th). anyway because of my absence my 21 day grace period is over, I probably should of said this earlier my mistake.

I just got a refurb Studio 1535 a couple weeks ago and it's great. I sold my HP DV5z (AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM 80 processor, ATI HD 3200 integrated graphics, 3 GB ram) and think I have a much better laptop with the Dell.
It's way faster than the HP with a better screen and I like the special features like the fingerprint reader and backlit keyboard. One downer: the Studio speakers are horrendous! They are the worst I've ever heard. The HP had beautiful speakers. There's no reason for Dell to have such substandard speakers in their midrange laptops. Why skimp on these componants when they have redesigned the rest?
The fan on the Studio does run alot but it doesn't bother me. I find that if I just lift it up it usually stops. Also, the Studio is a lot heavier than the HP but it's not a issue as I really don't take the laptop outside my home. Next spring I may upgrade to the next Studio models if they are lighter and smaller. -
Pink added, any more colours roll 'em my way
-
Your photos look wonderful, im not big on pink (mine is red) but i gotta say it looks really good! No early-on problems? Im a bit worried because of all the past problems from 3 months ago, im hoping they've sorted them out for the newer versions..
By the way, with all this "1535" and "1537" stuff, i was looking for the actual code on DELL but couldnt find it, i assume mine coming is the newer "1537" code? Well its the newest anyway! -

I might just have to pick one of these up for $799.

i will soon be a new studio 15 owner. has anyone had any delay problems with their orders or has everything been smooth for the most part?
-
I love my studio 15, except that the eject button has issues lol. other than that it's great!
-
Heh, EVERYONE had delay problems when they first came out, mine was delayed 3 times, only just got it in time for college
They seem to be better now though, -
1) Google Deviantart
2) Click "Search Wallpaper" (one of the sublinks under the main one)
3) Enter who you want the wallpaper of - images of appropriate resolutions are returned.
And on the 1535/1537 model numbers: 1537's have the newer Montevina processors, the P series and the T9400.
1535's have the older Penryns, while 1536's have AMD processors (can't actually build one on the site) -

My Flamingo Pink Studio 15 is scheduled for delivery tomorrow!!! I'll post pics and such when i get it!

I ordered 2 Dell Studio 15's Dec 7th 2008 for x-mas. One was pink and the other spring green. Exact same specs.
Core 2 Duo T5800 2.0GHZ
3gb ram
ati 3450
320gb HDD
1280x800 LED LCD screen
The pink notebook was shipped on the 12th of Dec. Recieved it, did some burn in tests over a 24 hour period. (memory tests, a bit of light gaming, some benchmarking, testing all features, reloading fresh Vista install..etc) Perfect laptop, even the speakers seem better then people report. My wife is gunna love it.
The Spring Green notebook started to worry me. Finally after talking with Dell they changed the shipping to free next day business. (Thank you Dell!!!) And should be recieving it tomorrow. If this notebook is as good as the first one my son will love it.
So to me it seems that certain types of colors could cause a delay. But I don't know that as fact, just my impression.
Personally the studio series is not for me, I am used to business class notebooks and I don't think these could take the pounding of alot of travel. To much flex in the body but after looking at alot of consumer brands at brick and mortar sites Dell did stand out as the overall best buy. -
cool good to know. hopefully mine will ship soon then. and as for the color delay i ordered mine in jet black after i saw the designs i wanted could have up to a 12 day longer delay.

Has anyone installed the new update of 12/17/08 to the Dell Utility? They are listing it as urgent and they say it provides support for some Vista hot fixes. I don't have a clue which Dell Utility they are talking about...I have several that came with this system, any ideas?
-
Recieved my Studio 1537 today finally!! I absolutely love it, the sound was fine, everythings fine, and once i installed the updated SoundBlaster tech. its even better! Really happy, hope to post photos soon!!

Why is it that the OS cant locate the driver for the Bluetooth card??
I figured it's already installed, going over files to check if it was in the details of the laptop (some driver for Bluetooth) or whether i've gotten it and have to get my own driver...??? -
BTW, I've used the Bluetooth fine already, sent a photo to the computer and it worked normally.
Is this a driver i need? Or is something wierd here?
Wouldnt count this anywhere near a 'problem'. Im probably not installing everything properly, ive been a bit all over the place!
Love this laptop!!!! -
After a month, I still think this laptop is great, but it seems to get scratch easily?
I use my computer very carefully and lightly (in my opinion), but it it seems to be getting scratched still, and the weird part is that it happens on the inside, like the palm rest and even the sides of the keyboard and around the webcam. Is this happening to other people too? -

You may want to invest in some type of palm rest protector if you're uncomfortable with the scratches.

Hey,
could you tell me please, wha are the best websites (e-shops) for buying Dell Studio in England?
Thanks:] -
dell.co.uk
-
Btw, I wonder if there is some kind of a way to switch Studio to battery saving mode ( no wlan, low brightness., etc) ? I mean some kind of a button or sth like that?
-
If you have Quickset installed, press Fn+F3. A window named "Battery Meter" will pop up. Under Dell Extended Battery Life, click Settings. You can configure what to do when you're using the battery as a power source. Unfortunately, you have to manually switch off the WLAN. Just adjust the brightness to the level you want and the laptop will remember it.
Anyway, has anyone with a T8300 processor successfully undervolted their laptop? -
-
in the battery meter section there is an option to disable battery charging when using the laptop while plugged in . i prefer to do this than removing the battery all the time. is it ok to do this or will it lessen the life of the battery keeping it in the laptop even though its idle
-
I just got my 1537 today with a very slim 90W adaptor that is flat and the power LED (for the power cord) is on the end that plugs into the laptop.
I don't see this adaptor on Dell's site and couldn't find it on a search here or Google. Is this a new 1537 part or have all 1537's been getting this slim adaptor and the 1535 is getting the older bulkier one? -
My 1537 came with the slim 90W adapter that has a blue LED firing into a fiber ring at the laptop port.

-
Something is wrong with my laptop. The display doesn't switch off when I close the lid. Is it a software or hardware problem?
-
-
Also noticed that the old design for the topo pattern (dried milk) on the palm rest has been retired .... -
-
So the new studio 1537's do not have that "dried milk" pattern on the right palm rest? Hopefully mine doesn't have it then.
