My bro's is supposedly 10/6 well, that's the ESD and those of us, who have been here awhile...know how that goes...

Meaning it either comes earlier or later... I'm happy that he is getting excited though!

And, looking at what is going on right now with shipping..hmmm...

Just being patient is a hard thing....but is also a good thing..because once it arrives...that's why/how the patience pays off in the end

LOL. By the way, I assume that I'm not the only person who had his 9 digit order number memorized within the first 48 hours by repeatedly calling the phone number.

OH yeah.....LOL..I was soo on that when I finally ordered my 1530!!!(memorization = a good thing) ...checking online, calling automated, etc.

I tried to refrain-restrain myself...so I wouldn't appear obsessed about my lappy....Alas, that didnt work! LMAO....

No, you guys your I9's will come soon enough! And you will forget what it was like waiting, for what seemed like an eternity!

You will be happy to have the I9 in your hands and *owning it*

And, once it comes out in the red....I will go thru the very same thing again!

I heard a rumor red wasn't coming out till next year... : (

 

But, that's a good thing it's just a rumor...I have faith that it will be released in the *red* (before year end) ...You have to have some sort of faith! It pretty much blends well with the *patience* factor...A nice mix those 2!

Well, I hope the I12 is released in more colors thean B&W when, that *rolls* out!

I wanted the red too but I have been waiting for this since it was first leaked online. I don't know how you can wait I just got the white one and called it quits...did the same thing with getting a black m1530 instead of a red one because of the availability at the time I was ordering. Good luck getting that red by Christmas.

 

Yes, I understand!!! I am going to still *hang in there a bit*...Plus my brother just ordered in black..so I can play with that for a while, I'm sure! (depends on his mood) LoL!

Have you received the I9 in white? Or, are you still waiting on delivery???

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 facing shipping delays
While some customers already have the new Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbooks in their hands, it looks like the company might be facing a roadbump that could affect future shipments. DigiTimes reports that Compal Electronics, the company building the tiny laptops is dealing with a shortage of in-mold roller treated chassis (I looked it up, the plural of chassis is chassis). And that could mean that Dell will ship fewer netbooks than predicted.

That’s not to say you won’t be able to pick one up at all. It just means that instead of shipping 1 million units, Dell may only be able to ship 700,000. I don’t think folks who placed their orders early have anything to worry about… yet. But if the Inspiron Mini becomes a popular netbook in the coming months, we could see shortages down the road.

 

Nope it still says "In Production" since the 6th as does the identical one I bought for my girlfriends birthday but that one has ubuntu and isn't scheduled to ship until mid october. :-(

Only 4 more days till the ESD on mine, I hope they manage it.

 

Hey all, just ordered the Mini. I was going to wait for the Ubuntu version, but since the day the Mini came out, I wanted it. I came across some extra cash, and what do you know, it covered the cost of the Mini

Ordered with the following specs: 8GB SSD, 1GB Ram, WinXP. I will be dumping WinXP for Archlinux, probably go with openbox and a simple panel. I run Arch on my Dell XPS M1530, the Mini will be the perfect travel companion (my Dell XPS is my couch rig), the Mini will be for school and when I travel for work.

Unfortunately ESD is 10/2. Guess I'll have to keep myself busy for the next few weeks to make time fly. And to begin, I will read all the pages here to see other's experiences.

Anyways, my Mini that I ordered on 9/4 finally went into shipping status this morning, showing a delivery date of tomorrow. The system's original ESD was the 19th.

Ok. I officially went shipped last night too. My EDD is.......TOMORROW! How sweet it that? I will let you all know how sweet it is.

Aw you guys got me all excited that mine shipped too. Order date 9/4, still "In Production". It was in the boxing stage last night. Maybe it'll change to shipped later today.

know what's funny? The sleeve for mine that I ordered along with the mini is still in build stage. I don't really care when that comes, but it's kinds funny! And DHL is the worst ever at updating their tracking info.

Based on the unboxing videos currently posted, it doesn't appear to include any sleeve or case.

 

Nope. But dell has made some custom ones with Timbuk2 that are really nifty.

Go and configure a mini and check out the accessories. There should be the bags listed there with some pics. I know someone here posted pics of two of the bags.

It's a sleeve, backpack and shoulder bag - pretty nifty! I just ordered it as well

 

I ordered mine on September 5th and mine is still "in production" with a Sept. 22 Est. ship date.

 

*Rumored* Oct/Nov....and I enhance on the word rumored...Because I'm sure what happened with the I9....will be the same...Unless we are totally surprised by Dell, and they release before the holiday season - for increased sales.

well lets see the big picture.. does hp or acer have abundance of colors yet? no. Its how the market goes.. i think its to risky to launch full steam.. especially in these times.

 

so I was just at Fry's during lunch and they got the HP mini in yesterday and had it on display. How does the dell measure up to this one size wise? The HP had a 120GB regular drive in it and was running Vista.

are there any pictures of the Dell and HP together?

 

I am looking at the *big picture* and.. those that have been around watching the Dell I9 since at least June..thought that it would be released with colors..as they were featuring it w/colors...Esp. the red..

And, to me it would be better to launch with more colors, and such..*full steam* that would mean more sales for Dell!!! (and obviously peep's are still buying the I9 during these times)...

However, that is only my opinion!...................................

I just called DHL and they said that the shipping label was printed as "ground" even though I asked for second day service. They told me to call dell to have them fix it.

DHL is saying they haven't even gotten the package from Dell yet - just the shipping label was printed. So Dell said to wait to see if it gets delivered tomorrow.

Arg.

 

Here's a question..... I bought two of the Dell Mini's, one for me and one for the wife. After seeing the HP today, I'm thinking my wife may not want one that small after all.... I'll know once I get it of course, but on the chance that she decides she doesn't like it, should I return it or just sell it on ebay or something?

I would let her use mine and see before opening hers up. that way I can send it back or sell it still sealed up.

what do you think? With the lead times on these so long, I would think someone would want one right away and take it off my hands. I wouldn't want anything more than what it cost me.

 

Since demand is high and supply is low it seems that it may be a good idea to sell on ebay. The thing is right now there is only one person selling them on there and he's selling them for hundreds over what Dell is selling them for. I would wait and see if she likes it, if not then check out ebay and see what they are going for on there.

 

Good to hear some units are shipping, although I also ordered mine on 9/4 mine is evidently still "in production" on the website and at "the boxing stage" on the phone . I'd guess the other configs that have already shipped but were ordered after me are the ones most available....

Personally I'm not a big fan of free laptops deals, but this one seems quite good if it's what you want. It doesn't say what spec the 9 is, but at the moment only top spec Mini's are available in the UK.

 

Oh man! Now I have to:
1) Cancel my Dell order
2) Move to the UK

sigh.

 

Same order, done 2 days after me, and you get to play on Friday instead of (hopefully) Monday... I cry FOUL ! back in Line! Send me your unit!!!! Is there no justice in the world!!!!!!!

Given my luck with Dell, they will most likely run out of units for this run and bump me to November ship date ... then send me someone else's return unit .... maybe the one that has the big hole in the screen!


All kidding aside, its good to know that people are actually receiving units ahead of the ESD, bodes well that someone had the supply chain figured out ahead of time. I can wait till Monday (although I may well drool over anyone who got their unit ahead of me.... oh the pain!!).

 

Well, DHL is still saying "Shipment data received." which means that Dell hasn't given my package to DHL even though it changed to 'shipped' yesterday. So it's possible that ours haven't been picked up either and will be picked up today (I hope!!) along with yours.

 

w00t mine says shipped too although it says 3-5 days when i asked for 2 as well. what number to call?
