FWIW: Dell is receiving back alot of bricked Mini due to BIOS flash failures.
Never flash the BIOS in the Mini or Vostro A90 under anything other than DOS!
You have been warned... -
I'd get it.. the white one I have was similar priced and I love it!!!!
Just want a different color. Worth every penney.
But then.. I have a bit shopping problemmm lol -
Edit:
Does any1 know where can i buy the new lids from? (just the lids).
& that all black mini looks super awesome, best looking mini IMO. -
Mine were about 485 each when I bought them through EPP, before they screwed up my orders and discounted them....
So with the extra they charge for the red, 500 seems about right. But it does still seem a bit high..... but then again, you KNOW YOU WANT IT!!!!
-
Personally, I'd hunt down the cheapest one I could, at the bare minimum spec I could get away with, especially if I had never owned a netbook before. There's a good chance you'll buy the thing, and not even use it, or not use nearly as many features as you think.
There is only one reason I could justify spending five hundred bucks on a netbook. That would be if you plan on using it as your only notebook, or primary machine. For the rest of us, netbooks are second option, sometimes even third. IMO, a third option computer should be as inexpensive as possible.
Having said that, I know I'm in the minority on this. -
.....I like shopping too..for electronic gadgets and what not. But BF is less than a week away!
So perhaps better deals..
OH yes...I know I want it..that's a given..I'm trying to hold off til next week, sometime..Key word = trying
I've waited so long for the *red*, what's a bit longer. *cough*
I'm really hoping for Black Friday, Cyber Monday or even just plain, good Holiday deals on this!
It would be nice if they were similar to the ones for the 1530 last year, when it was released & for the month of December
Cin -
I use mine all the time at work to surf the net. Then they don't know
where I go on their computers..
and it's light. in the purse.. go! -
OH yes...I know I want it..that's a given..I'm trying to hold off til next week, sometime..Key word = trying
Quote:
God bless yah Cin.. you have more willpower than I do...
and probably way more money!! lolol -
*
And, *willpower* is very hard..for some odd reason I'm trying to make it work with the word *patience* LOL....for a Netbook!
Cin -
500$ seems just about right.. that`s what i paid for mine & its worth every penny. i use it as my primary PC. The mini doesn`t feel any different, performance wise to my ex-xps 1530. (which i sold, still waitin for the new XPS line up).
-
......Playing on the Dell EPP site again..oh lulz.
Cin -
because she is 83 and uses and ipos but this could be
her main pc for sure at her age as well as others.
Go
Cin
go -
if you wait we might get the 32gb option
-
Only to make matters more confusing for Cin' The 32GB option is now on Dell's site. But for now it's only available on the Ubuntu version. It's a $100 premium.
-

-
I'm going to....get it....soon!
LOL..
Yes, I am more confused now!
Cin -
I'm sure Cin' could get her hands on a Dell XP cd from somewhere!! -
I just configured a Red mini with 32gb ssd, BT and 1.3 camera and it was only $504 on the regular site.... now I know XP versions are usually a little more, but I would order that and install XP when I got it.
It should be cheaper than that through the EPP right? -
sonoritygenius Goddess of Laptops
Now I am torn between 9" and 12" -
ahhh noooo since the 32gb is out i dont think i can hold back the urge to buy it now! maybe one more week....see if any 32gbs are in the outlet
-
configured that and it came out to be 522 otd. I cant find any coupons. if i can slice 50-100 dollars off that i'd get it in an instant.

I actually have XP on my desktop!
But honestly, I don't know if I can hold off for much longer!
Darn....what happened to that *patience*..such a core value!
Cin -
i still have to buy my gf her christmas present. Its about the same if not a little more then the mini so im not biting yet.
-
Well, I'm sure you will be able to order it soon!
OK..here is my config w/Ubuntu and the 32GB from the Dell EPP site.
(there is no color choices other than Black & White right now, though)
$478.09 for it all!So, I would plan on about $500 with added $25.00 for when the Cherry Red becomes availi'
Cin
-
=( i'd have bought it for 480 otd. That and another 30 dollars at newegg for a 2gb stick of ram
*edit* i didnt see yours, but its cheaper because its with the 16gb SSD instead of the 32 in my configuration -
I thought I had added the 32...and I didn't...
So, no difference really....then my other configs...oh well.
Will keep on checking and trying.
Did you see the $300 Black Friday deal?
Here it is:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4189700#post4189700
Cin -
i did see it, will it only be 300 if i wait till black friday? i tried it just now and at start its still 65 dollars, options are kinda meh though ; ;
-
Any word on the speed of the 32gig? is it like the new ssd`s from mydigitaldiscount.com ?
-
I know the options are *meh*.... and after you add what *you want* back to square one with pricing????
Cin -
i think im just going to a good boy and wait until i see one in the outlet....
....maybe.... -
I'm gonna try and wait...at least a few more days
I want to see the EPP site change the I9 w/Unbuntu to 32 gb
Cin -
Did you see that banner ad on Dell now that gives you an additional 9% off the mini. It applies after youve added your configured system to your checkout cart.
-
Thanks for info!
Cin -
Id post the link but Im a newbie and it wont let me post links.
Go to dell.com
Then click For Home
Click Laptops
And on the right youll see a green banner that says "Big savings on our smallest systems" 9% off the mini 9 and 12% off the mini 12.
Go there and configure your system add it to your cart and youll see it gives you 9% or 12% in addition to the normal instant savings. -
+1 for you!
When you reach 15 posts..I believe you should be able to attach linkys
Cin -
very limited configurations with the 9% discount setup
i get excited and depressed everytime i configure one.
-
I mean Im excited at that potential of the 9% savings
But EPP could be better!
Cin -
You could build this same configuration with Ubuntu and save an additional $40.
In essence, you aren't really saving 9% as this configuration (No Webcam or Bluetooth, 1GB RAM, 16GB SSD) is already on the normal site starting at $449 ($409 Ubuntu).
Ahhhh!! Dell and their pricing schemes. -
I see what you are saying...Yes their lovely *pricing schemes*
Thanks for the awesome researching investigation you did, N
So, still I'm better off w/EPPand Ubuntu!
Cin -
Why won't it let me configure the XP models with a 32GB SSD?
-
That's because right now it's only availi' on the Ubuntu build right now!....(1st column on left on the Dell I9 *choice of build page*)
The first is for Ubuntu....the others are XP
Cin -
I wish i can order it without an OS or memory
It is getting cheaper, i got a 32gb configuration down to under 500 now with the free shipping...its getting tempting.
Still no 32gb ones in the outlet.
*edit* never mind, its under 500 BEFORE tax, after tax comes out to $550.... this is even with a black lid. THE PAIN! -
I would think that the 32GB would be more wanted by people running XP.
I want XP rather than Ubuntu and I also would rather have 32GB SSD. I REALLY hope Dell offers 32GB on a XP model by this Thursday & Friday, which is when I was planning on buying my Mini 9. If tey dont offer it, I may just have to wait again. -
-
ooh, thanks...that may be a better option for me!
