   Why can't Dell solve their supply issues? You'd think with a down economy there would be less purchasing and more stock available.

Agree'd, they more than doubled the production time on mine. I can understand some added time, double just seems a bit much.

They sure didnt delay in charging me for the mini

They shouldn't charge you until they deliver it.

This issue has got some additional attention:

    http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/18/some-dell-mini-9s-said-to-be-shipping-with-smaller-batteries/

I received my mini back in October and have one of the "KR" variant batteries. I talked to Dell support earlier and they have this issue escalated, should hear something from them tomorrow.

Do you think they will offer a replacement for our KR variant batteries?
I thought they were better not worse but that isn't true?

Wow, that was quick. With the way news spreads online it might force Dell into action rather quickly.

I can see it now, Dells latest e mail...

"Scott, due to battery supply issues your Mini 9 will ship sometime late 2009. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you for your purchase."

In Ubuntu, just go click the battery icon in top panel, then click on the batteries and it'll bring up properties. Not sure about XP

Looks like the Mini battery issue was actually a non-issue since the Korean-made battery that everyone thinks is lesser capacity actually outlasted the China-made one...

So Cin either one will work almost the same... I wonder if one is cooler than the other. I noticed mine pretty warm but I think that is the

Whoa, slow down Turbo. It wasn't what people where thinking, a reporting application is reporting different design capacities, one of which doesn't match and is less then what is printed on the battery (4 cells vs. 3 cells). That was the issue stated in the above forum, first post and it is still an issue today.

Granted the discharge time proved not to be an issue we still have the reporting problem.

For me, I have the reporting problem and my battery is only getting about 3hrs on a charge, so I am waiting for Dell to provide a solution/explanation on both.

Curious, does your mini 9 have the KR or CN battery?

Mine is a KR battery, listed at 32WHr on the battery. I've been getting four hours out of mine.

I don't know what it reports, as I'm a novice Ubuntu user, but at least I'm getting the usage time that I should be getting.

Yeah its hitting hard in certain areas....So, yes I will be picking it up at the depot this evening..and I will be safe, I try to be at least!

I should have it in my hands, by 7pm this evening.!

All I know is, I expect pics, Cin'. I want to see what this red looks like on a non-rendered picture. I'm guessing I'll be thinking my white looks quite boring, now.
