Bummer! I took the back off my new refurbished mini just to take a look inside and what do I see?? One of the clips holding the ram chip in place broken completely in two! The chip is being held in place by only one clip! Whoever orginally had the laptop must have broken the clip and the refurbish crew didn't even check inside (probably because the laptop is functioning).
I called Dell since I don't want a laptop with a broken part. I have to send back the entire unit including the AC adapter. They are sending a box to reship but I probably won't get it until Friday with the holidays in the way.
What a shock! You'd think they would check the laptops inside as well as outside before sending. The laptop was not cleaned when I received it. Must have been a rush job....
On a side note: the mini had one of those coveted WLAN slots. I'm not sure what that is for but my replacement probably won't have it I'm sure...
Replacement won't arrive until the end of the month.....sheesh...

Yeah unfortunately they don't have 100% quality rate when leaving the Outlet. The first Studio I received had a bad screen that would only operate on the lowest brightness level. The one I have now though is great.

Cin - Companion Netbook to my compliment my 1530

1. Able to use at work so my information and what I do is private.
2. Small enough that I can take it on trips to visit my mom without lugging a larger one around.
3. It's cute!!So prissy I know.
4. After having snowball, it is a very durable notebook and I like having XP
a little bit longer. -
Same things I lurves about my Red..

Has anyone else loaded the newest BIOS (A03)?
I don't have a change log, so I don't know if this is because of the BIOS update, or if something else is at work here. But, since loading A03, my Ubuntu I9 is running significantly quicker. Specifically, it used to take forever to load web pages, regardless of how complicated the page was. Now, web pages are popping up really quickly. I'm not waiting around at all anymore.
So, am I alone here? Or is this BIOS update the best thing that's happened since the release of this machine? -
Cin -
I didn't know there was a new one... will have to download it.
How do you get ubantu? -
It shouldn't be a problem, after all Ubuntu is offered on the I9, if you have problems you can IM me or ask in the linux section of this forum.
Oh, and help me wrangle Cin up and get Linux on her I9 -
ahhhhhhhh consider it done .. Thank you for the information.

Can the Ubantu be put onto a Mini 12? And do you think it would work
better/faster than Vista or XP?
Thanks -
at amazon.com - $29.99 / free shipping
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Blu...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1229924567&sr=8-1
I know you can find them on ebay for really good prices, also!
I will prob's get this for my I9
Cin -
And yes of course it can. It would probably run much faster then Vista/XP, It's more lightweight, and has a specific netbook version.
But instead of Ubuntu, I recommend LinuxMint or OpenSuSE. -
My mini shipped! Dell offered 2 day shipping when i ordered the mini. Looking at the info online I see they bumped it up for next day for my trouble, awesome job Dell! Getting this bad boy tomorrow
-
