    well here's my status.....

my ORIGINAL ORDER that I placed on 9/12 that was canceled twice has now been pushed to an ESD of 10/29.

I ordered two black mini's exactly the same as my original order. They are coming next business day.

I have not mentioned it yet, but I have had an Executive in Austin helping me since Tuesday evening. Due to the part shortage in manufacturing they were not able to get my original order here any faster. What they are doing for me is extending the same price I had on my original order to the order I just placed on the outlet. This will include all the discounts and free shipping upgrades that were given to me as consolation to being delayed.

They are also calling the outlet and making sure my order gets out asap and is on my desk tomorrow.

So, hopefully this time tomorrow my 6 week ordeal will be over, and I will have my two black mini's to play with!

Funny thing is that even with the regular ESD of the outlet order, it will have been here before my other order that has taken 6 weeks.

    UPDATE FOR ME!!!!

1st order place on 9/12/08 - still in "Build" with ESD of 10/29

2nd order placed yesterday at 11:00am CST ARRIVED TODAY at 10:00am CST!!!!

I still have the original order out there. I don't know what to do with it right now, the price was so cheap, I may keep the order and sell them when they arrive.

This thing is soooo cool. I am just setting it up so far, but I like it.

I'm still pissed it took SIX WEEKS to get here.

I wasn't worried because 99% of the mini's on the outlet right now are cancelled orders that people placed and not defective/repaired units.

Now, in a few months I'm sure some of the mini's will be returns and stuff.

I am only skeptical because I can't imagine what kind of support I will recieve if something IS wrong. Up to this point my Customer Service experience has been awful. Infact, that little pink bag I bought from dell got lost in the mail (UPS shows it never recieved the package), and dell is blaming it on UPS and not helping... (sorry, rant)

    AAAh yes....totally understand ;)

Oh and the *blame game* between Dell and UPS = major stinkage...What is happening with that now?

Rants, in this case are good!

I think, if I would've ordered when I thought I might have...I would literally be hanging upside down from the ceiling right, now..  :) Patience can only go so far :) Kudo's to you and everyone for hanging in there.

    That's just RIDICULOUS...

Call them back...and demand documentation for what they say has happened, have them e-mail it it you along with a Case Number.

Tell them, you want them to compensate you by sending it to you..at no charge.... :( That is what I would do!

I did ask for an email and you wouldn't believe what they said

Operator : "I do not have access to email ma'am"

Me : "ARE U SERIOUS? You work for Dell, a F***N Computer store and U don't have EMAIL??!?!

    Operator : Silence

It was really funny because my whole office heard me and cracked up, but this is beyond rediculous at this point. They haven't sent me an email confirmation saying they cancelled it. SO W*F??

I think i may call again.. work is slow and i can't wait to be entertained by a completely different answer.

I'm very sorry to hear that happened. I'm curious to hear what Dell's reason for canceling your order is. I hope it is not the Adobe 9.0 issue -- which I will find inconsistent since I just got back to my office and booted up the White Dell Mini that was waiting for me and it has Adobe 9.0 installed on it.

To answer a question you asked in an earlier post about is it worth the wait -- having only played with the Mini for about 30 minutes -- I think it will work well for what I purchased it for. It has a good study feel to it and while the keyboard is a little cramped, I'm typing on it now, I think it is something that most people can get used to. I don't have a problem with the screen size and two people I work with came into my office and said it looked "cute" for whatever that is worth. So, for me, it was worth the wait. I hope my girlfriend, who I purchased the Mini for, thinks it was worth the wait too.

Please let us know why Dell canceled your order. One way to look at it is that you might be able to use this unfortunate event to get Dell to reduce the price of an outlet purchase, possibly free shipping and from what other people are saying it should arrive to you quickly.

I ordered a new, base model, Mini this afternoon. My card had already been charged, and my machine is already in production.

This has moved along a lot quicker than I thought it would. Can't wait to see the little bugger, especially at the price I got it.

My order was marked with the death mark today (changed). I called and was told the order was canceled and a new order was being placed. The funny thing is that about an hour before I checked the online status, I had received a call from my Dell escalation rep and was told that there was still no update. I may just cancel now and wait for dell to produce a model with a WWAN card like the rest of their lineup. I'm also considering the Acer Aspire one.

First of all, I think that we may be twins reared apart! I'm sure that there is some sort of warning flag attached to all of my phone numbers for Dell! The ranting might not get you anywhere with them, but at least it made me feel better!

I have the pink bag and I am woefully unimpressed! Yes, the mini fits perfectly in it and yes, there is a separate pocket for the huge power cord, but that's it - nothing else will fit. Also, I don't know exactly how many straps are supposed to ship with it, but I only received 1 and my engineer husband and I still can't figure out how it's supposed to be used as a backpack. I kind of wish I had bought the $10 neoprene sleeve at target and picked up some type of messenger bag/backpack for everything else (external optical drive & hard drive) somewhere else. :)

I checked after I canceled my order if Dell reimbursed me. And they didn't.... In fact Dell never charged me for the mini I ordered in September and canceled a few days ago. This is maybe an other reason for the delay, Dell has some issue to charge its customers.... :D

Yes, I see that after re-reading your posts and Cin's post. Sorry for the confusion on my part.

My girlfriend has been using the Mini all day: internet use, e-mail and Microsoft Word 2003. She loves the machine. The Mini has met all of her expectations. I hope your machine(s) arrive shortly.

I've canceled the second order I placed since it appears that the White Mini (the first order) is working fine.

Dell puts a temp hold on the credit card when the order is placed to see if the card is valid. Dell doesn't fully charge the credit card until the order ships.

Dell doesn't charge your credit until they ship. They just authorize your credit card for the amount to make sure it will go through and those authorizations expire in about 30 days.

I think getting a mini from the outlet is the way to go right now. Every one of them that I can tell are canceled orders and brand new ready to ship.

Of course, the ones that are there won't last long once people realize this and they will be snatched up.

Hopefully Dell can get the lead time on new ones straightened out.

If you really need it, I would still say try the Outlet. Support is the same, warranty is the same. Everything is the same as a new computer except it is looked over better than a new computer and you will get it much more quickly.

So, the new order they were placing didn't have the WWAN card? What about the military website; does it still show the WWAN as an option?

Sorry to keep harping on this. I'm really sorry yours didn't pan out the way it should have.

New order has been placed without the WWAN card and the AAFES website no longer has it listed as an option. I've decided to cancel the entire order and will wait and see if they come out with the option in the future.

That really sucks! Dell really fell down on the WWAN slot issue too. The expense and difficulty of adding this feature internally after the sale precludes an update kit so you'd be stuck with a USB dongle. I don't really need the WWAN slot right now and I figured I could wear one out in a couple or few years. By the time I need the WWAN, they'll probably be out. I still think the Mini is the best netbook option out there. Good luck though.

    That stinks!

I am completely happy with my outlet mini.... it's a brand new unit with all the same warranty as a regular one. Like I mentioned before, I think pretty much all the mini's in the outlet right now are new orders that were cancelled. You're not going to get a used/refurbished mini from there right now. They are all new. If you order today, you should have it by the end of the week!

I actually found only ONE in outlet that had a BlueTooth with 16g/1mb (or whatever), and it's gone already. My bf is cancelling the order today.. no idea where we'll go from here.... maybe Acer? I'll keep you posted!

oh that really stinks big time. There were so many on the outlet recently... Like Cin' said, I guess people snatched them all up!

Wow... I'm glad I was able to get mine last week. Keep an eye on the outlet... maybe more will show up. They had so many arrive in one day, I bet more will arrive each day.

HOLY COW! I just checked the outlet and there are only FIVE mini's there, all white ones with 16GB SSD, 1GB Ram, 1.3 Cam, and NO bluetooth.

If you didn't need BT and wanted white, then these are the way to go, they are only $399.

There were over 160 mini's on there last week.
