Well, that stinks. A day late and dollar short.

 

By the grace of god my black mini finally entered the boxing stage today. Anybody have any idea how long that takes?

 

Exactly...he's gonna go crazed this afternoon if he can't find one...He's not as patient as I am!!!

Awesome!!! The boxing stage can take from 1 day to a 4+...Hopefully, it won't take that long for you...

Well my original order placed on Sept 15 is now push back today for the fifth time now to Nov 27!!! I was lucky enough to place an order from the outlet on Thursday but never received the 2nd confirmation so I' v been keeping an eye on the outlet all weekend and even this morning it was full so I wonder if dell pull them? Good news is I just got off the phone with the outlet sales person and she said mine was shipped on Friday so I should see it later today or tomorrow.

Will be returning one of the black ones since I ordered the second one on misinformation from Dell customer care center.

 

I received my Mini from the Outlet this afternoon. All my colleague agree this is pretty cute and light. I will try it tonight...

My girlfriend finally got her birthday present today. We recieved the one I ordered on 10/14 this morning, when the one that I ordered September 6th is out to delivery at my house as well (I am at school) so I ordered one a month later and received it the exact same day.

The first one shipped last Tuesday next day and it went the wrong way so took an extra 4 business days, when the other one actually did ship next day.

 

GOOD NEWS FOR EVERYONE!

Looks like Mini's should start flowing again....

My original order from 9/12 that was re-entered on 9/30 went into boxing!!

My executive helper person said it's about 72 hours transit time to Nashville, and they will ship from there. I bet I get these two on Friday.

The supposed hold up this time was the black LCD covers.... Hopefully others start boxing/shipping soon.

 

My mini came today (got stuck at DHL over the weekend since it was next day "business day". But o nce again, it came the wrong color!! second time this has happened! Ordered black but it came white. Hopefully they can get me a replacement this time. Gotta talk to my customer service rep.

 

Terrible. Dell is really ****ing the Mini release up. Seriously, how hard can it be to get the color right - there are only two available.

I was going to cancel yesterday, but my order was only pushed back for 3 days... not a full week like usual. Plus, the outlet was out of new systems in like 20 mins!!

I couldn't hold out anymore. I was sick to my stomach when my original order was finally canceled and had pretty much decided that I wouldn't order one. After the coupon came out for the outlet store I couldn't pass up a good deal. I got pretty much everything I wanted except the Bluetooth (will order separately) and the ATT WWAN Card - boo, for 360ish shipped.

I placed my order early this morning around 1:15 am and it has already shipped. I should have it before the end of the week. YEAH!

 

Cool deal! Yes, most of the outlet ones lately are missing bluetooth. This used to be an easy addition on other dell laptops, but on the mini, it's buried underneath stuff. You could still possibly buy the part and install it later, or you could get one of these new micro-bluetooth usb dongle things... they are tiny, don't stick out much, but it does take up a usb port.

 

I'm so happy for you! Are you going to usb bluetooth then? I probably could have gotten by without it too. What a deal!

 

I like to take things apart and this one seems fairly straight forward. I just need to figure out which internal bluetooth module I need.

I was happy with the deal and I should be able to pickup an internal bluetooth module for around 20.00.

 

A funny thing happened today. My dell rep called to tell me that my canceled order had been re-entered. I was provided with the order number and immediately went on line to check the ESD. The date given was 11/24, what a joke! This will be getting canceled immediately.

 

I've been thinking the same thing (Hmm, maybe it WILL be here for the weekend)... but i'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up...

On another note, has anyone found a 9inch case for these that aren't from dell? I'm having some trouble finding one that small....

 

I got a case from Radio Shack that was intended for a portable DVD player.

Look in stores where the portable DVD players are, and find cases for 10" DVD players... those should fit the mini pretty good.

They make custom bags and sleeves for all kinds of electronics. When you order the item, they manufacture it. They're a pretty small outfit, and they take pride in their work.

I had one of their sleeves for my HP MiniNote. The quality was second to none.

 

These are really really nice, however it is a little out of my price range, once I add the flap and piggyback... I may be hitting them up in the future tho, because they do look like they make quality, custom bags.

 

I didn't get any of the extras with mine. Just the sleeve, and it worked really well.

Customer service called me regarding my wrong colored mini, they have the replacement order in production already. Ordered 10-28-08, estimated ship date of Nov 3. I think the problem was that the even though the invoice said "obsidian black" the "base LCD assembly" was invoiced with the white part number instead of the black part number.

 

Well, at least they called you, and that the ESD is early next week
Sounds like a invoicing prob' for sure on their end! I hope maybe you get it a bit earlier than 11/3...(that's Monday anyways!)

nope, but thats only because i kept the first wrong one they sent out (after some haggling to get a second one at the same price and some concession coupons) . Been playing with that one for almost a month now

 

Aargh, I'm so confused by the mixed messages from Dell. They've been pretty bad... actually, REALLY bad at emailing to say when the EDD has been shifted back. Today they emailed to say that my EDD was going to be the 31st of October instead of the 10th... yeah, well, bit late Dell. I knew that already from the online order status, and there was another date between those too.

But there was another email today:

So I thought "yay!" and went off to look up my tracking number on the order status page.

And now I don't know what to believe. I placed my order on the 26th of September, the day after the Ubuntu version came out in the UK, so I don't think the 17th of November is really an acceptable delivery date given that it wasn't a preorder and they originally estimated about two weeks until it would be delivered.

 

Target and Best Buy have them online. I was at Target the other day and they had neoprene sleeves that I think would work - they are for the Acers that they are selling there.

 

Dell finally shipped out the free bag they gave me for delaying the Mini 9. I had ordered a black one, but they called me and told me that it would be another couple of weeks until the black one was available. I got tired of waiting for it so I told them to send me a red/black bag instead since those were available. I may spray it with black fabric dye if I don't like the red when I see it.

It shipped from City of Industry, CA by FedEx Overnight and the FedEx hub in the same city. I used to work at the FedEx hub there 9 months ago. I am in Pomona, CA. It's like 5 minutes away on the freeway.

It's really annoying that all of these new systems sit in the refurb store, when mine has been sitting in the build stage for a week.

 

My mini (ordered on 9/11) finally shipped today. Should be at my office tomorrow. The long wait is over.

My original order placed on SEPTEMBER 12th, that was canceled a couple times and finally re-ordered on SEPTEMBER 30th, STILL HASN'T SHIPPED as of today.

But last Thursday I ordered two black Mini's from the outlet, and received them on Friday.

Call and order one off the outlet, they are brand new, never been opened. If the price is more than what your original order was, call customer service and demand they adjust the price for you, then cancel your original order once you have your mini in your hand.

 

I got way too good of a deal on mine to cancel the order.

There's no way they'll match the price in the refurb store.

I paid right around 800 for two fully loaded XP mini's (BT, 1.3 cam, 16SSD, 1gb Ram) including next day shipping and tax. Right now if you configure the exact same thing, it would run $1,104.15.

My customer service rep discounted the two new ones from the outlet to match that. I ordered on Thursday, got them on Friday.

What's cool is that the original order is still on the way. So I have two more mini's, fully loaded, on the way for a little over $800.

 

I ordered from the outlet store on Tuesday morning, it shipped the same day and I just got the delivery from DHL. I can't believe how small this thing is. I'm going through the setup process now.

I noticed in the package was a note to QVC customers. The deal I got through the outlet store was solid. It's not a refurb so that makes it even better.

 

My deal was insane, but I'm keeping it on the dl until I have the computer in my hand.

I'll tell you when it gets here. You'll be floored.
