These ship times are ridiculous, but it seems like every new Dell release is like this.

    Congrats. Enjoy.

I'll be sitting here, waiting impatiently for mine.

Mine shipped today as well. My complaint to BBB kinda worked. I asked for some kind of compensation but they declined. I doubt its coincidence that both me and cmarcho's order both shipped today. Guess they really had some part shortage that held the production line.

Well, time to update my sig. My original order for two black mini's from 9/12 finally arrived today.

Now I have Three mini's... I did get two last week in addition to the two from today, but the wife didn't care for hers so I sold it on ebay.

So now I'm trying to figure what to do with the other two mini's. I'll probably throw them up on ebay as well I guess, I certainly don't want to pay the bill for them!

I think that CMarcho only ordered two, and then picked two up from the outlet because the wait was taking forever... i could be wrong tho...

none taken.... I don't expect you to read all 57 pages of this thread to understand my story so I'll give you the short version:

9/12 I ordered two mini's, one for me one for the wife.
two weeks later they call and tell me they cancelled my order because they screwed something up out of my control.
9/26 they create a duplicate order and I start all over
four days later they call and tell me they had to cancel that order because they messed up something when entering it.
9/30 they create a third order for my stuff and I wait again.

Sometime in October I get fed up, find that the exact same thing I ordered is available in the outlet while my order isn't supposed to ship for two more weeks. by now, a customer support executive in Austin is helping me and says to order two from the outlet, she will get them to me the next morning. I do that, get my mini's and meanwhile the original order is still processing. Those get delayed one more time before finally arriving yesterday.

that's the short version! So total of 7 weeks for my original order to get to me.

CMarcho, just curious why your wife didn't like hers. Mine is still shipping via DHL (it's awesome to finally say shipping), and i'm still a lil unsure to how i will like the smaller format.

she doesn't use a computer a whole lot anyway, she just didn't feel we needed two of them. she can borrow mine if needed. She had a 1405 laptop that she used sometimes, but not very often.

I'm still getting used to the smaller format, the keyboard is still a little problematic with \\\\ and '''' keys.... but other than that, I love the mini.

ARRGHHH! I ordered dh's on the 24th oct, expected to ship after the 10 Nov. He comes home on the 27th and says he shipping out sometime during the week of the 3rd....I order another mini this time thru the outlet on the 28th, paid for Next Day shipping. I figured it would arrive Friday the 31st. Received tracking # saying "Received shipping info" and nothing else. Just checked on the original order (24 oct) and its in Boxing. Now the race is on... which one will show up first. Dh would like the 1st mini since it has B/T, the outlet one did not have B/T. He'll get which ever shows up before he leaves.

This is what I've been through and this is what I sent to every Dell email I had.

I don't know who to talk to. It seems nobody cares. This will be a long story. Even if nobody reads it, I will feel better venting about it.

I placed an order for a Dell Mini 9 on September 6, 2008. The order # was 448554174. At that time, my ESD was 9-22-08.
On 9-22-08, I received an email saying that my order was delayed. My new ESD was 9-29-08. I called because I know people that had already received theirs even though they had ordered after I did. The representative gave me a free upgrade to overnight shipping.
On 9-29-08 I received another email saying my order was further delayed. I called again and my order was mistakenly cancelled. When I called back, I got transferred several times and was finally hung up on. I was told that my order could not be reinstated and that I would have to place a new order. I was angry and said that I wanted to return the T Pack carrying sleeve.
The next day, I decided I should just re-order and wait for the delay. That order # was 477389161.
On 10-22-08 I looked on the web site and found out that again, this order was being delayed. I believe that the ESD for this one was well into November. I called and they said they didn't know why it was delayed and couldn't guarantee the new ship date. It's only an estimate. I was told that if I wasn't happy that I could just cancel my order. That is what I did. Then I said what about returning my T Pack? I was transferred to the return department. They told me that it was over a month since I placed the order and I would have to pay to ship the item back. I decided it wasn't worth the aggravation and I could just use it for an Asus or other mini lap top since Dell didn't seem to want to sell me one.
On Tuesday 10-28-08 I saw the Dell Mini on the Dell Outlet. I called and the sales rep told me they were ready to ship and that my order would be shipped that day. So once again, I ordered my mini 9. I had to settle for a white one without Bluetooth, but I would finally get my mini. This order # was 510435328.
When the confirmation mail came, it said ESD of Friday 10-31-08. I went on line and the order status page said ESD of 11-12-08. When I called, the automated system said the same thing. I called the sales rep and mailed him. He replied that I should ignore those ship dates. I waited 2 more days and my order hadn't shipped. I mailed him again, but he didn't reply. I called and was told the ESD was 10-31-08 like my first mail said, not like the system said and not like my sales rep had said. I was then told that if I wasn't happy with the ship date I had the option of cancelling my order and was then hung up on.
Today 10-31-08 the web site said the order status had changed. When I clicked on view orders, it said this order was changed but there was a new order exactly the same except it was using today’s date as the order date and a new ESD of 11-05-08. This order # was 515438970. I called right away and was told that the new order couldn't be processed because I needed to talk to Dell Financial to release the money from the order that they had cancelled without my permission. I said I didn't cancel the order and I didn't place another order and I didn't want to talk to Dell Financial. I just want my Mini 9. They said the new order they placed for me couldn't be processed until I do. Then I got a couple of work calls and the rep told me they don't have time to wait for my calls and that I would have to call back and hung up on me.
I called back and cancelled my order.
I can not believe what I have been through.
I can not believe that I even let myself go through that. That's how bad I wanted this unit.
I have purchased from Dell for years. I also purchase Dell PC's, color laser printer and our server for my employer and have told them I would swear by Dell.
For the last two months, I have been lied to, neglected, mistreated and robbed of money and a lot of precious time. I really hope this gets to someone who can make a difference at that company. There are forums that have dedicated whole sections to this kind of treatment so I know mine isn’t an isolated case.

That is my story of at least 9 ESD’s and 4 order numbers in an attempt to purchase one netbook.
All I wanted was a Dell. Now I will have to settle for an Asus or an HP.

If anybody can get this mail to someone who can make executive decisions, you would be well served to do it. This is the type of thing that eventually brings companies to their knees.

i wanted to read your post... but some spaces would be very helpful.. you should just order from outlet seems poeple have better luck there. personally i would get a netbook from asus or msi if you feel comfortable with that company.. I would def pick asus or msi over hp and dell if you dont mind that they arent big brand companies (in the us i guess)

Ordered a total of 3 from the Outlet last week (15 percent off could not resist)- used two day and at first was also given the 11-11 ship date.... but they indeed shipped out the very same day and if it were not for DHL I would have had them pre a business trip. Ended up having DHL hold them for pickup when I got back from travel. So far Outlet orders have been GREAT all 3 were prev ordered units.

So far really like the Mini's ----- using them more than my 1730's so far :)

Actually, I think DHL needs a signature, and my bf isn't home during weekdays, so i think they may leave a form and have him sign it for tomorrow (like UPS does). But i should have it in my hand by the time i get out of school tomorrow night! YAY!! :D

You can leave instructions for where you want them to leave it (i.e: DHL, Please leav e package, track #123456789, in deck box by the front door), and sign the note. They will do as instructed, but you have to sign the note.

The minis (at least mine) ship "signature prefered" which allows you to do this.

If the DHL facility is close by, you can usually pick you package up from them, the same day, between 5-7 PM or so (call to verify).

Anyways..I can't wait to hear all about it, once you receive it!

I was told that by default DHL - Dell shipments will be sig preferred. That is as long as your address is clear (no claims for DHL). I have had several 4 and 5K plus Dell's shipped recently via DHL and all came sig preferred.

Note - it really depends on what time your delivery is made as to if you will be able to pickup at dhl facility. Mine usually come late afternoon and DLH office closes at 5:30. When I see that pkg has arrived at DHL I call and have it held.

When my 1530 was delivered Next Day, it arrived at my house @ 9:30 am..I wasn't home ~ they didn't leave it per shipping label instructions!

So, I was able to pick it up at the DHL depot after work that day! All worked out well. :D

My brother wasnt home yesterday, when his I9 was delivered! He has it with DHL that when he is not home ~ his packages can be delivered to the neighbor next door :D

I just received my mini 9 from purolator 2 hours ago and so far its been great. I did notice a little of cpu whine in my uber quiet room though but other than that it is pretty good! Keyboard is okay as long as you don't use the " ' " apostrophe key. Trackpad seems a little bit small to me but i will mostly be using my logitech nano so its all good.

    Hey Jokkon! Congrat's :D

How long do you think it will take for you to get used to the keyboard, and the trackpad (even though you will be using your Nano) ?? I'm hearing that it takes a bit to get used to, but once you do...it works pretty well! ;)

Is Fed Ex the new shipper? Last week a mini was shipped via DHL and today the second mini has shipped with Fedex.

I am not dh (dear hubby at the moment), I gave him a mini as an early holiday gift. He is happy so that means I can get a new camera lens. [wink].

I bought the case in the middle link, provided By Cin.

I just got it today, and really like it (though it's hard not to look like you're carrying a purse).

Here are some pics of my case:

I don't plan on using the corner straps though.

Here is what I could fit in the front pocket: My (large for a notebook) Mouse, an extra Mini 9 battery, & the AC adapter for the Mini 9.

My Mini shipped late yesterday, via Fedex. Looks like I should have it early next week.

This will be one of those rare weekends, that Monday can't come soon enough.

Looks like it will fit everything I need... I really only need the mini, ac adapter and Verizon USB720 (aircard). Would prefer a case that is a little longer than the mini and had room in the side but I'm going to order this one to see how it works.

Dells order system has me confused now, haha. The person from customer service who is handling my case (which has been surprisingly great, its nice to deal with only 1 person the whole time) called me the other day to update me that my black mini would be delayed slightly due to a "backorder of LCD's" (from expected ship of the 4th to the 7th). I went to the dell order status page later that day, the order number from the mini in question showed cancelled, but i then noticed a new order number showed up with that date as "in production" with the same config (with the order date of the 6th, and expected delivery of the 12th) I honestly dont mind the wait , but when i looked at other orders under the same customer number, i had a a totally different order number marked as shipped today (with the same config of the 2 wrong ones that i had already received) Totally weird. I guess ill see if that one arrives, but it is weird since the order number of the one that was shipped was never given to me, yet it shows it was ordered the same day as the one that shows up as cancelled now.

    Darn it.

Usually this would be a good thing. Dell bumped up my shipping, & mine is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow... at work. Of course, tomorrow's Saturday. So, I won't be at work.

My Mini will be here. But, I won't be able to get my hands on it until Monday.

Ignore the *cancelled* order #...Use the new order number, going forward. What happened, is they cancelled the original order, because of the Backorder on the LCD..causing your *original* order to be cancelled/refreshed! This is why you have a new order number. This happened to me when my 1530 had to be cancelled and refreshed, due to a part being on backorder. ;)

You can call Customer Care..and verify the Order Number, and they should also be able to give you the latest info on your order status! :D

Oish! :( Just yesterday you were wishing for an earlier delivery. :(
Well, does FedEx have pickup availabilty at their depot? If no one is at your place of business, for receipt?

    Cin ;) :)

Not sure why anyone would wait for a Mini at this point when "Brand New - Prev Sold" units are in the Outlet for immediate shipment. I cancelled all of my Dell "proper" orders last week and got 3 from the outlet - very satisified here.

Heck-if I had kept my original 3 orders I sitll would not have them -- think Nov 11 was the first shipping date.... But if you like to wait you are working with the right Company _ D E L L _ W A I T E OF death.

I would have gone that route, but the mini's in the outlet are still $150 +tax more than the price im paying for mine, so i really dont mind the wait, especially since i already have one im using right now.

Thanks for the heads up. Now i just have to figure out how this mystery mini i never got the order number of ended up shipping to me!

Same situation here. Thanks to a Dell pricing snafu, the deal I got was way too good to cancel.
