Order Cancelled.
Found a Mini 9 on Craiglist, it is a basic version (xp/8gb/512mb/cam).

However I paid $350, Added a 2GB stick of Memory from Frys $49+tax, and a 32GB SSD for ($129 shipped).

System Total $528

Okay, I've been called twice by my "escalation" rep to inform me that nothing is shipping right now and that they are still waiting on parts for the mini. While I'm not sure I totally believe it, at least she does call me when she says that she will.

I still have an alleged ship date of 10/9, but its still in the build stage.....

To add insult to injury - I think that this has already been added to our Dell account!

Hey, they shouldn't be charging that to your DPA until, it completed and ready to ship! You may want to call and check on that....

I have two of my orders taken out of my available balance on the DPA, but it doesn't actually invoice and get taken out until they ship.

I don't think any mini's are going anywhere right now. My dell rep today said they have the request in for expedite, but it's just that.... a request. So I'm still at the 'back of the line' with everyone else that got screwed with the acrobat deal. My ESD is still 10/24.... only SIX WEEKS after I ordered.

If it weren't for the stellar discounts I'm getting on these two, I would give up. Now I'll just have to wait it out.

 

New here but I've been following this thread for a long time. So far I'm having no luck getting my Mini 9, hehehe. Ordered on 9/14, Black 16gb, Bluetooth & 1.3 Megapixel camera. Initial ship date 9/29, delayed ship date 10/6 and now a new delayed ship date of 10/13. Seems Dell is having a hell of a time with these things.

 

Yup, my ESD got changed today too. I have a hard time believing they didn't know, until today, that mine wouldn't ship today (ditto on 9/29).

Here is the rundown for me:

Black XP 1GB 16GB no-cam BT
My Original order was: 9/13 (13:50 Pacific time)
Original ESD: 9/29
On 9/29 ESD changed to: 10/6
On 10/6 ESD was changed to 10/13 -- No email was sent to me this time, and when I checked the status on-line I had to verify I still wanted the order, or it would be canceled (would be nice to get an email about that).

Second Order (back-up system) on: 10/1
Original ESD: 10/22

 

Yet, the mini is STILL on the very first page of http://www.dell.com. I just can't believe they have a laptop they can't ship on the very first page of their website...

How does one get an "Esclation Rep" because seriousley I am very po'd.
I ordered my mini on 9-9-08 and have been given yet anoither (3rd) est ship date. Nobody can give a reason other than processor backorder. I would think they would have an honest assesment of when these things will be available. I still see the mini HEAVILY advertised which hardly seems like a good or ethical business practice. Oh well.....

 

Just wait until this weekend, when the first wave of Ubuntu Mini 9s are supposed to start shipping. Or not.

I got a call from a Dell rep saying that the manufacturing team told him that my Mini 9 is in the last stages of building and testing and that it should ship out in 2-3 business days. Who does Dell ship with? Do they deliver on Saturdays? Hopefully I'll have it this weekend.

 

blah. I called and mine is still in 'build'.

maybe there's hope though... maybe mine will box soon.

congrats on yours! In my area DHL is who dell uses to deliver stuff. don't know if they deliver on Saturday or not. I know that my local DHL facility is open half day on Saturday and I picked up my Canon Rebel XT from the facility on a Saturday morning rather than wait for Monday delivery. I ordered the camera from dell.

Dell normal home delivery is Monday thru Friday. Unless something is specified for a *Saturday* delivery, and that usually costs extra $ )

The good part is that it is finally going to be on it's way to you!

Great, mine was ordered 2 days before yours was originally, and yet still I wait..... I'd love for it to get to the testing stage, let alone boxing!!!!!

 

I too decided to order a black S10 from CC. Ordered a little before noon today and have already received a tracking number. Haven't canceled my 910 order yet from Dell but probably will. I haven't been through near the troubles you have had will you 910 order by my EST is still 10/30 and has been for the last two weeks. I was looking at the S10 earlier (only interested in black) but on Lenovo's site they show December for shipping that color. Don't know why CC got them in so early but it works for me. S10 should be here this Friday!

 

How the heck can it take "2-3 business days" to box a mini 9?

the 'boxing' stage for dell laptops includes putting it in a box, and then on a plane to the states, and then sorted out to and sent to the destination hub. Once it reaches that point, it will change to shipped. That's when they hand it over to DHL.

 

I received an e-mail this morning from my customer service rep saying my order was in the final stages of production and would ship out in 2 or 3 business days. Last night it was still in the build stage but this morning it is in the boxing stage. Finally, a light at the end of the tunnel!

I've discovered something about myself through this; I have no patience at all when it comes to my toys.

 

I have been patiently waiting so far, but I am not sure I can deal with a delay. Dell learned a hard lesson with this one, dont stand between a geek and the gadget lol.

What's strange is that it's still being offered on the Dell EPP site for AAFES.com as an option. I guess we'll see what happens on the 15th when my ship date may get pushed back again.

 

Okay, allegedly, my ship date is still tomorrow. However, since my unit is still in the "build stage," I'm not believing it. I'm fully expecting a phone call from my rep tomorrow with another lame excuse as to why it will be delayed again this time.

 

Has anybody who ordered an Ubuntu version received their Mini yet? I'm trying to figure out what the Restore CD for Ubuntu Netbook Remix is like... or if it exists. Dell told me it doesn't exist.

Hey everyone. I posted this on the MyDellMini forums.

Ordered my Mini on 9/13.
ESD pushed back three times, now to 10/13.
EDD now 10/16-10/20.

Just got off the call with three separate Dell customer service agents. They assured me that Adobe Reader 9.0 was not the problem why my order was still in the "In Production - Build" stage. One customer service agent told me that their stock of 16GB SSD drives were backordered, and that's why my order has been delayed thus far. I sure hope that this Adobe 9.0 thing doesn't come back and bite me in the butt later on. I've been waiting patiently for so long already!

 

Ordered on 9/11 and found out today that my ESD has been pushed back to 11/6. Any suggestions?

 

Holy Cow!!!! That's pretty far out. Why was it pushed back? Any explanation?

What version of Adobe Acrobat is listed on your order?

I would call and see what's going on.

 

The only explination i get is that the product has high demand. The adobe verios is still 9.0, but I have been told that it is not an issue. I've already escalted to the executive support crew, but i get the feeling they cannot do anything the front line CSRs can.

 

11/6..ESD...woah! Please, keep us updated as to how things are going with the ESCrew & your whole order process.

I like how the I9 is in high demand..but right now with an order of a 1530..the I9 is *free* ..Hope Dell can keep up with the *high demand* on that. And, remember the earlier orders (such as yours) should be esclated & completed first!

Dell should really fix their Preliminary Ship Dates. How can someone who ordered on 9/11 have an ESD of 11/6 when someone who orders today will get one of these:

Thats the exact same build I ordered, except for black. I tried explaining to the ESR rep, i am on the second one by the way, the fact that people are ordering after me and recieving it before me. It doesn't seem to be clicking with anyone over there.
I'm currently waiting for a call back so someone can tell me why my ship date got pushed back a month, after being delayed twice before.

 

If I have something forsale at a reasonable price, not ebay crap over prices, that someone on this thread might want, is there a place on this board where I can post it?

 

I placed my order on 9/17 and have been told the Mini 9 was on "Engineering hold". I still have an expected shipping date of 10/6. I guess that won't be happening now. Good to hear at least some are shipping.

 

I'm happy for you. But of course my order with the same specs except without bluetooth which was ordered on 09/14 is still in the build stage.

3rd order 9/30. 16gbssd, 1gb ram, UBUNTU. ESD 11/6. Got a call from dell that I missed and also confirmed in the automated system that I am now in "boxing". I'm hoping this is a good sign, not in the clear until I have a tracking number.

At least I'm not alone. I too got the notice at 8:00 a.m. this morning that my order was being pushed back to 11/6. My escalation rep finally called me 8.5 hours later to tell me the same thing. So, here I sit, waiting still on a black, 16g HD, XP, 1.3 webcam, no bluetooth.

Does your order have Acrobat 9.0 in it? If it does then your order will never come. You need call and have them reorder it and cancel the current order.

 

Yah, what's sad is that I've been waiting since 9/13. Not as long as some, but still a **** long time.

 

I've been assured multiple times that the adobe is no longer an issue, perhaps because anyone can upgrade to 9.0 now. Besides, I don't want to reorder because the webcam is no longer an option.

 

My order status changed to Shipped about 30 minutes ago It still says "Data Temporarily Unavailable" for the tracking number and carrier though. Am I right in thinking that I should have the laptop tomorrow if I have Next Business Day shipping? Cant wait

Data Temp. Unavailable means that the tracking number is being processed bet. Dell and DHL! You could get it tomorrow, if not...Monday at the latest.

I'm in the same boat. I've called customer service multiple times to address the issue of Acrobat 9.0 still being on my system yet all the agents assure me it's their backorder of SSD drives holding up my order. I would cancel if I could, but as shkaufman has said, the webcam is not an option anymore...and video chat is one of the primary reasons why I bought this netbook. This is so frustrating.
