I'm in America. The curious thing is that it says Adobe Acrobat 9 on my system, and I got a fedex tracking number to be delievered tomorrow. I think the acrobat incident might be an isolated situation, I hope EVERYBODY didn't cancel their orders and reorder?! (patience!)

Wha!? Dell ships the Mini 9 with FedEx too??? Maybe thats why DHL could not find my package in their system. They said to call after 12am when they update their systems. What part of the US are you in? Im in Southern California.
EDIT: I just called FedEx and they have no record of my package eitherNow I dont know who to call to let them know that I want my package delivered to my neighbor
-
Yeah Dell uses FedEx and DHL. I'm pretty sure it depends on what shipping method you order, but my shipping was overnight so that might make a difference. DHL sucks. Anyway, I got overnight for free because I bargained, and I ALSO got a $25 dollar discount on my system for a grand total of like 490 shipped
.
You can always negotiate w/ dell over the phone...'cept you have to call back several times. Not sure if it's always worth the time sometimes, but there are always deals to be had.
Ps. DHL is terrible. -
-
Darn, I just called the Dell order status system and it says my package is "In Transit To Carrier". I guess this means I wont be getting it today?
-
I know, you want it *now* after all that has gone on..to play w/over the weekend..but Monday will be here before you realize it!
And, as far as I know..Dell usually only ships DHL..well, at least in the Midwest they do.

Okay, mine is still in the build stage, so, seeing as how the webcam option is now back (yay!), I've ordered a second one (the shipping date is the same as my first - sigh) to see which one gets here first. Once I receive one, I'll cancel the other - that is if I ever receive one!
-
I see the camera option now too.... and they put a note by each camera option that it will delay shipping. Looks to add a week when I configure it.
No Camera Option [subtract $25]
Integrated 0.3M Pixel Webcam [subtract $10]
May delay your Inspiron 910 ship date
Integrated 1.3M Pixel Webcam [Included in Price]
May delay your Inspiron 910 ship date
Maybe this is holding some of the shipments up right now? -
My Ubuntu system that was ordered on 9/30 with an ESD of 11/06 that went into boxing on 10/09 did NOT have a camera, just bluetooth...
-
It's now been delayed and won't ship until 10/15. What gives? I'm really looking forward to this since the Dell has the best build quality off all the netbooks.
PS: Had an order for an Inspiron I did for a friend in late august that has been delayed...twice. It's currently sitting at mid to late Oct. That's awful customer service. -
"EDIT: I just called FedEx and they have no record of my package either Now I dont know who to call to let them know that I want my package delivered to my neighbor"
In my experience FedEx will not let you change the delivery location. I went through this with another Dell computer. FedEx says the shipper has to change the delivery location and Dell will not. Dell told me I would have to wait until the package got returned to them and then they would re-ship it to the new address.
Luckily I was able to run down the FedEx guy and get it from him. Sorry to rain on your parade jaimegmr. Let the group know how this works out for you! -
My recently-ordered (and customized) Inspiron 13 takes only about 2 weeks to ship, though. Quite happy with it so far; wishing the Mini also has an all-black interior surface. The thing is gorgeous (though the wrist pads are handprint magnets) -
Dell finally posted the carrier and tracking number on my order status page.
It says DHL Express.
The package was just picked up today at 2:35pm from Sparks, NV and the Dell CS rep said I should get it on Monday, Tuesday at the latest. (I don't see how Tuesday would be "Next Day Shipping")
DHL should have no problem delivering to my neighbor since the DHL CS rep suggested I leave a note for the driver and to call them and let them know so they can put my request in their records. -
It is so frustrating to wait to get the order shipped or delayed again.
My order should be shipped on Monday. Sale persons from Dell always say the same thing, they must have learn it by heart since they repeated it so many times. There is a high demand and they really apologize for the delay.
But I think that the most annoying part in this is all those forums(like this one) where you can read that some people already received it even tough they ordered it after me whatever is the configuration(same or not). And I know I am not the only one in this case, I sympathize with you.
I would love to read an advertisement from Dell saying that they will put a FIFO rule for all their orders.
By the way, I am really glad that some people can already enjoy their Mini.
I can't wait to receive the first computer with no fan and almost no mechanical part(except mainly the keyboard). I understand the delay for such a progress.
I hope to post soon a new message about the shipment of my Mini. -
We moved into our current house about 2 years ago, the previous owner had a permanent record setup at FedEx and UPS to just leave the package at the door. The front door is "hidden" enough I feel safe leaving it there.
I ship most things to work anyway, which is where this one will arrive. Seeing the commercial address usually gets ground shipped orders to me roughly 1 day before getting to home. -
Woohooo! I have a tracking number now. DHL from their Nevada warehouse. Hasn't actually been picked up by DHL yet I don't think. We'll see if that 10/15 ship date sticks.
-
Tuesday..that's like a mere almost 3 days!
Awesome news for you too!
Soon you both will be enjoying your I9's

I am new to this board, but Dell is driving me crazy...
I ordered a Black Mini, XP, 1GB, 16GB, no camera on 9/11.
The original estimated delivery date was 9/26, pushed back to 10/3, pushed back to 10/9, and now showing an estimated shipping date of 10/16.
My order is showing Adobe 9, which I have seen mentioned multiple times in this discussion board as causing a problem. I have tried to call Dell numerous times to advise that this could be an issue, but they keep saying that it is not Adobe, it is the solid state drive or the processor that is causing the delay. I ask to speak with a supervisor/manager and they tell me that no supervisors/managers are available. I sent an email, and a dell representative replied, "In order to resolved your concern of acrobat compatibility; i would request you to contact sales department at 1-800-289-3355. Since, your order is in production stage they will be glad to assist you." I called that department and they again said Adobe 9.0 was not an issue and were not helpful. Supposedly my order has been "expedited" whatever that means.
Has anyone received a mini with Adobe 9.0? I looked on dell.com tonight, and if I try to order a new mini with the same specs, it shows an estimated delivery date of 10/26 and Adobe 8.1!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. -
-
Ordered 9/30 w/ Ubuntu, boxing on 10/9, shipped NBD 10/12, which is a Sunday, so I'll probably have it on Tuesday. My first order was 9/13, so a little over a month, but at least I didn't get charged the windows xp tax. BT, no camera, 16gb SSD.
-
Okay, so I'm riding back from a trip on Friday when the Dell rep calls me to try and figure out why I've ordered a second mini. I flat out told her I was racing them to see which one got here first and then I'd cancel the other one. While she wasn't happy (I had sent another email to their "unresolved issues" department because I am still looking for an explanation as to why people who ordered after me had already received theirs), she stated that she understood. Personally, I'm enjoying my little piece of civil disobedience....
-
Now, I hope that either one, or both ship fairly soon for you!
Cin -
I'm getting very excited! Mine is supposed to ship tomorrow!
-
Your not too excited are you??? LOL
Cin -
I've received a pleasant status change!
Here is the rundown for me:
Black XP 1GB 16GB no-cam BT
My Original order was: 9/13 (13:50 Pacific time)
Original ESD: 9/29
On 9/29 ESD changed to: 10/6
On 10/6 ESD was changed to 10/13 -- No email was sent to me this time, and when I checked the status on-line I had to verify I still wanted the order, or it would be canceled (would be nice to get an email about that).
THIS ORDER STILL IN BUILD STAGE (as of 5 minutes before this post).
I Have cancelled this order today (via email, will call to verify cancel tomorrow).
Black XP 512MB 8GB no-cam BT
Second Order (back-up system) on: 10/1
Original ESD: 10/22
SHIPPED: 10/12!!!!!!!!!
I think I can assume from this that Dell is having a hard time getting either the 16GB SSD or the 1GB RAM, I'm guessing the SSD.
OR: it could actually be the Adobe reader 9.1 thing. -
Mine has supposed shipped today, unfortunately by DHL. They show delivery as Tuesday but I'm hoping for tomorrow since I'm off work. Tuesday would not be overnight! Still YAY!!
-
Unfortunately it's next business day, as in the business day after it's shipped, it's not true next day
-
The e-mail I just received from Dell says they estimate it will be delivered tomorrow! I wonder which it will be...
-
Well. It's Monday, my supposed 3rd estimated ship date...and to my surprise (or not to my surprise) my order has been delayed YET AGAIN!
My updated status:
Black XP 16GB 1GB BT 1.3MP Adobe9.0
Ordered on 9/13
Original ESD: 9/29
Delayed to: 10/6
2nd Delay to 10/13
3rd Delay to 10/20 -
Like Fenixconnektion my ESD has also been pushed, yet again, one more week. I'm going to guess that my second order, placed 19 days after the original order, will ship first. Hmm...
If I have free time at work and feel like getting annoyed I'll give Dell a call and hear what their latest excuse for delaying my Dell Mini shipment.
Order #1: White/1GB RAM/16GB SSD/1.3 Camera/No BT/Adobe 9.0
Order Date: 09/14/2008
Original ESD: 09/29/2008
1st Revised ESD: 10/06/2008
2nd Revised ESD: 10/13/2008
3rd Revised ESD: 10/20/2008
Current Stage: Build
Order #2: Black/1GB RAM/16GB SSD/1.3 Camera/No BT/Adobe 8.1
Order Date: 10/03/2008
ESD: 10/27/2008
Current Stage: Build -
Well crap. Mine is still in 'BUILD' stage two weeks after the 2nd order. So here I am almost 5 weeks into waiting, and still nothing. This really is pretty stupid, considering so many other manufacturers can get me theirs in just a few days. My friend ordered the new Everun and had it in 3 days. That's a pretty neat little netbook, but the 7" screen is too small for me.
Two Mini 9's - both with XP/16GB SDD/1GB Ram/BT/1.3 Cam/Black
Ordered on 9/12 with ESD of 9/29
Canceled on 9/25 because of Acrobat 9
Re-Ordered on 9/26 with promise of "Expedite!!!"
2nd order canceled on 9/30 because of sales person error when entering order
3rd order placed on 9/30 and again promise of "Expedite!!!"
As of 10/13, still in BUILD with ESD of 10/23
I'm calling them up today to see what's up. Again, they have discounted these so much for me I pretty much figure I'll wait it out as they probably wouldn't care if I canceled the order since they are probably not making much off me. -
Wow, that's nice, I don't even have tracking yet.
-
The latest speculation is that it's the camera...
-
I don't know what Dell is trying to hide, but they have serious problems. This is the third delay on my order made the 09/12/08.
XP, black, 16GB, 1 GB, BT, WebCam 1.3, Adobe 9.0.....
Here is the message from Dell.

Maybe the $65 instant saving was too much. I don't know how mush Dell is making on the Mini, but with a $65 instant saving, they may not make so much on a mini. Dell say that they may ship my Mini two month after I ordered it. I am afraid that in one Month, a better netbook arrived on the market. They already lost a lot of customer because of this delay, and I think they will lose even more.
-
-
I think they are going to be losing money or breaking even on my order, so they are in no hurry to ship it. I mean, if they wait long enough, the price on the components to build them will drop enough and they will be making money again.... maybe that's the strategy they are using? -
Just when I thought things might be under control, it's still happening to peep's...and you ordered 9/12????
Oish....Sorry's this is happening to you! Maybe, you can call Dell and ask what they can do for you to keep you from actually cancelling? Maybe you will get a gift card or something??? Some peep's have been able to have this done for them! Just a thought...Yes, having the I9 shipped would be the best thing

Black XP 512MB 8GB no-cam BT
Second Order (back-up system) on: 10/1
Original ESD: 10/22
SHIPPED: 10/12!!!!!!!!! -
Hey your 2nd order is on it's way too you! Awesome!
Cin -
I just got off the phone with them and they show the 'Expedite' was accepted by manufacturing. But the order is still in build. They say there does not appear to be any hold waiting for any particular hardware. They are sending a request to manufacturing asking what the hold up is. of course, I'll have to wait for a response.
I'm pushing to get an extra power supply out of this longer wait! that way I can keep one at work and one at home and not have to carry it every day.
it would be nice if mine went into boxing today, I might have it by the weekend. I am thinking it will still ship on the ESD that was given when placing the order. I don't think 'expedite' gets you jack-s&%t. -
So, I just re-checked the status of my original order and it has been pushed back AGAIN - twice in one day. The new date is November 10th!!!! I've got to call Dell when I have time. That is just pathetic.
Order #1: White/1GB RAM/16GB SSD/1.3 Camera/No BT/Adobe 9.0
Order Date: 09/14/2008
Original ESD: 09/29/2008

2nd Revised ESD: 10/13/2008
3rd Revised ESD: 10/20/2008
4th Revised ESD: 11/10/2008

Order #2: Black/1GB RAM/16GB SSD/1.3 Camera/No BT/Adobe 8.1

Welcome to the club.....

Did you get a big instant saving on the First order ? By the way, I am located in NYC, and from your name I presume you may be from NYC too. Maybe Dell decided to ban all shipment to NYC
-
It's not NYC, I just cancelled mine because it got delayed till the 10th of November also.
-
I am located in New York City. I hope there isn't a problem with shipments to NYC but I can't see why there would be -- but I am no expert on how Dell allocates the orders to the different (assumed) assemblers in Asia. -
Thanks
