The OFFICIAL Dell Inspiron 9 (Mini I) Order Status Thread

Well they arent going to change the Estimated Shipping Date, Im 90% sure of that, they will just let it get out early, but I pray that it comes this week my Girlfriend will be happy to finally get her bday present (it was on 9/13)

Edit: The biggest thing that scares me about the "boxing" stage is that the one link said that the computer is in the small box and is shipped to the US, where it then gets the accessories, so if battery is included with accessories, last time i called they said they were waiting for the battery....I wish I was calling Dell more so I would know how long it's been in the "boxing" stage.

and now it's about 9 something Monday morning there... and I'm still in 'BUILD'.

Neverending build stage.... supposed to ship on Wednesday I think.... Don't see it happening.

 

I just woke up and got the same news... still in the built phase and ANOTHER "delayed" notice. Ugghh.

It's sufficed to say that this will be my LAST purchase from Dell. Their customer service thus far has been a joke, and I don't expect it to get better and time soon. What the hell, Michael Dell, is this anyway to run a business?!?

Oh I'll be pretty mad if they wait until my ESD to delay my order... it's been 6 weeks already!!!! And this order is supposedly "Expedited". Yeah right.

 

Well i found the trick, Call up, yell, scream, raise all sorts of hell, threaten to cancel, and what do ya know.. MINE is being moved to the front of the line.

4 delays just aint gonna cut it.. NOW Or cancel.

Thats all you need to say.

It should be shipped out tomorrow. I could care less about waiting in line.. Dell screwed this one up so I am cutting in line.

I bet ya the guy who took my call just handed in his resignation.. lol

 

I've tried that approach... unfortunately the foreign person on the other lines doesn't give to ****s if i cancel or not... but alas, i will try it again. LOL

 

In fact people at Dell, expect me to cancel because they how many time I already called. But I will never cancel , I will wait ten years if it is necessary.

Haha... me too! It's a catch 22-- I want to tell dell to "suck it" and cancel my order, but at the same time I want my mini oh so bad!

I just called to try Chingma's(sp?) approach and was shot down in two seconds. The CS reps don't care if we cancel, infact they'd probably be overjoyed if we cancelled bc it would be one less phone call to have to field!LOL.

OK, so this is a question for everyone on this post who HAS recieved their dell mini. How is it? Do you love it? And is it worth the wait?

 

Well now I checked up with both my orders and they are both in the boxing stage.... does that mean it is too late to cancel one of them?

I will consider keeping both but it will do a hurting on my bank account.

 

My order was delayed again to 11/8 even after all the phone calls.
My original order was 9/15!!! it's been 6 weeks and no Mini.
I finally gave up and canceled this afternoon.

That's one strike against Dell for future purchases....in my book.

 

At least yours HAS a box! Mine has been in production since 9.12!

 

Haha.. they might as well give us lube with the mini, bc i'm pretty sure we've all be F**** up the a** pretty bad!

 

Don't get me wrong, I am extremely happy that mine has a box, but now two of them have a box, and I wasn't planning on buying two laptops.

 

You could sell one on ebay-- apparently they are in high demand. I actually saw one on there going for $700. That's a really good profit!

 

Yeah but I got the higher end one, and ended up costing 650 anyway, but I may consider that....if anyone is interested :-D

 

For those of you have been waiting patiently for your minis as I have, here's my update:

First order - 9/11, ESD has changed 4 times with the most recent being 11/06. It is still in the build stage, where I think it will remain until I cancel it as it has the Adobe 9.0 issue. It was allegedly expedited by the customer escalation rep, but she's so ticked off at me that she never returns my e-mails, I only get "out of the office emails" from her and she only calls me on my work number during non-business hours and then leaves a corporate-created message ("This email is with reference to the conversation we had earlier today regarding your Dell order number *********. We discussed about the order delay and reasons for the same. Once again, I thank you for sharing your experience with us. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the issue discussed today, please do reply to this email or call me and I would be glad to assist you further.")



My second order - 10/10. ESD is still showing as 11/10, however it has been in the boxing stage since 10/18 (Saturday). I'm hoping that this gets shipped soon and isn't sitting on a pallet somewhere waiting for another 100 or so to get boxed-up before it gets shipped.

Needless to say, this is the last Dell computer I will EVER order, after having been a loyal Dell customer for the past 6 years. I don't know what Michael Dell is thinking or if he's even paying attention to his company, but in this economy, this is not the time to tick off your consumers.

 

Thought I would post this note:

My Mini came with BIOS ver. A00.
With this BIOS I had issues with my Bluetooth GPS, using MS Streets and Trips 2008, as soon as the software connected to the GPS it would consistently crash (Streets and Trips), with a memory error. This really sucked for me, one of the reasons I bought this mini 9 was to see how it would do as a GPS, on an upcoming road trip.

That problem has gone away with BIOS version A01 (dated 10/2/08).

They do not list the fixes incorporated in BIOS A01, but if you are having any issues with Bluetooth devices, or memory errors, in software that connects to any device, updating to this version may help.

ok, now I just got a call from someone overseas and it went to voice mail. Strange since I was holding my phone in my hand and it never rang.

Anyway, they said the delay on my order is because of a shortage of Black LCD Covers. They expect them at the END OF THE MONTH! Whatever. I'm sending an email to all those dell addresses in that other thread. This is stupid. Black mini's are shipping out right now. Mine has been delayed long enough.

 

I was reading this thread every day since I ordered my Mini. I must be very lucky because it wasn't delayed once and it was shipped a week and a half before the ESD.

OMIGOD Dell hates me!!!

My second order was 10/10 (XP, white, 16gb, 1 gb mem, 1.3 webcam) and yet it's still in the boxing stage with an ESD of 11/10! ***?

 

ha, I wish I knew! They left a voice mail on my phone, said end of the month. Good point you have.... they could have meant November!

 

I never checked versions of adobe b/c didn't care at the time...but ill check later.

edit: the second order is 8.1 but I can't get the first on my phone.

 

WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! My second order was shipped today. It's supposed to be here tomorrow, but it's coming DHL, so we'll see. I just got a call from the escalation rep letting me know and wanting to cancel my first order. I told her that I'm waiting on doing that until I get this one in my hot little hands. Since the black one is still in the build stage (where it has comfortably been since September 12), I don't think it will ship anytime soon......

 

Glad to see the units are actually shipping!

 

Ok, I received a call today and was told that the black lcd covers are out, and they expecting to get more on October 30th.

That's what they get when they charge $25 more for white when they released.... everyone ordered black! Now they should charge more for black so people will order more white!

Hi everyone, yes I'm a newbe here! I ordered a mini 9 on September 15 and have had the ETA changed 4 times now. I just checked and its in the build stage hopefully this is good but the one question i have is what's wrong with Adobe 9.0?

almost every order I have seen with Acrobat 9.0 had to be canceled and re-ordered with Acrobat 8.1 instead. Mine included. I ordered on 9/12 and still haven't received mine.

you might want to call customer care and see what is up.

 

Both my orders had 8.1 and they both shipped.

 

My first order had Adobe 9.0 along with a black case and is still in terminal build.

My second order is white with Adobe 8.1 and supposedly shipped today.

 

When did you order your first one? Mine is also black and it has 9.0 on the order, I called today and the message said it was in build stage.

 

Mine was also ordered in black with 9.0. It is also still in the build stage. I don't know if I should reorder a white with 8.1, because Dell CS is giving me no information on anything!

 

I just checked the website, and now they are saying there is a 10day build time for white and a 20 day build day for black. Having a black one with 9.0 and absolutely NO movement on it since 9.12, im thinking i may need to convince my bf to cancel this order and place a new one for a white dell.

 

I had some movement on my order today. They pushed the ESD date to 10/29. Yeah! That makes 5 date changes, at this rate I'm hoping I have it by Christmas.

 

Absolutely; I love it. Took more than a month to get it but it is everything I expected it to be. Great build quality. No major glidges other than having to remove the bluetooth software and install a new driver to get it to work with my Nokia PC Suite. I've already taken it on a trip and it was great. Hope it holds out for all three years of my warranty and beyond.

 

If it takes until Christmas but has the WWAN card, won't that be worth it?

 

Well, today was my ESD... 10/22. Mine is still in 'Build' right now. I'm guessing because the voice mail I got telling me the black lcd cover is backordered. Supposed to be here Oct 30, so I guess mine will still need to complete the build process after that, and then ship some time after that.

Looks like it's going to take TWO MONTHS for me to receive two mini's.

 

Well, my extra battery shipped. Looking like I will get it 4 weeks before I get the computer.
