I just spooke to my rep (actually he called me!), he said my order is in the final build stages and he should have a tracking # for me in a few days.

I would assume all those who had their orders automatically cancelled and replaced should see some movement if their orders were marked 'expedited'

There is no way he could tell me all this if he didn't have some certain info - he said he checked directly with a certain dept.

anyone else in that boat too? BTW they are giving me $50 coupon, no upgrades (was too late). Will be happy if it comes next week. Still don't think it will be enough to make me order Dell again.

Well I'm seeing some progress on my order as it used to say: "Work In Progress" while now it says: "In production". How much longer will I have to wait for my laptop to arrive...

It's been already 7 weeks (Ordered on 3rd October)... god if they delay it one more time, I'm going to give some supervisor a call and ask for REAL compensation.

Well, my order may be moving forward again...maybe. Been in pre-production since the 10th. Called up 800-247-2076 and hit option 2. The managers here seem to be the only ones who know what's up with this laptop. Anyway I talked to a manager, he acknowledge the original wifi problem, and said there was no reason why I should still be in pre-production. He said he'd escalate it and I'll see an update within 24 hours.
So...if you've had delays and have been in pre-production for awhile, I'd call that number.

    Word. That number is golden.

I've been going back and forth with someone who replied to my [email protected] rant for the last week. Getting jacked around repeatedly (what are they, Dutch? Swedish?!?), no real answers to anything, no offers of upgrades or good will".

I called this number, told her I originally placed my order on 10/16, asked her to expedite and she said that I should see it within a week. (One week from today is 12/1, which is better than my current EDD of 12/4.)

You still in pre-production? Last time I called to get the wifi-reorder dealt with, the manager said it would be done that night, but I didn't see the cancel/reorder until two days later. Don't know if it was coincidence or if it just took awhile to update.

Anyway I'm hoping to see it move into production by tomorrow. If not I'll give a call back in.

Looks like bing will have 20% cashback on dell this friday, and unknown amount with HP. I am really thinking of canceling now. The only thing preventing me is another delayed week.

I canceled my order last night because of delays. I just got an e-mail that they re-submitted my order? My new EDD is Dec 18th. My status now is "Work in Progress". I guess I will have to call them and cancel again. I am going to think about it. I like the laptop, but there are a lot of other good options out there.

    New Order Placed: NOV 3th

    New EDD: DEC 3

Order Status: SHIPPED!!!! (nov. 15 16:15)

Update: GOT IT! (Nov. 24 10:00)

    My Location: Quebec (Canada)

Notes: Never went to boxing stage. My order should now be delivered by the end of this week! That's 2 weeks before my 2nd EDD (But 2 weeks after my first EDD)

Note 2: I was supposed to get the next day shipping but it took 9 days to put a hand on it. Purolator put the laptop on the wrong truck and instead of going from USA to Toronto the laptop transited from USA to Calgary. Took almost 1 week to travel from Calgary to Toronto....

But the wait is over now.

Dell seems to be really good at raising expectations, then failing to even meet their original expectations.

I originally placed my order on 10/6, had it canceled on 11/3 (the day it was supposed to ship) and had to call them to get the new order placed (and had to argue with them to get them to honor my original price). My second EDD was 12/2, with an estimated shipping date of 11/24. As of this Monday (11/23) my order was in boxing with the phone system saying it would ship 11/24 and I'd get it 12/2.

Tuesday afternoon, I check the order status on the phone system, and it still lists it as boxing but has no other information. I stayed on the line to talk to a real person, and he said he checked with manufacturing and that there were no problems or delays. He also changed my shipping to next business day.

A couple hours later, the online system shows my EDD as 11/25, but no other updates to the online or phone systems. It's now 1:37am on 11/25, and I still haven't received a shipping notification or tracking number.

So, who wants to place bets on whether I'm actually going to get my computer on 11/25?

From what i understand the boxing stage takes like 3 days. as it gets shipped from the factory to the pace to get boxed. then it gets shipped from there to you. i dunno about 11/25 but i would expect for you to get it soon

Oh, I don't expect to get it 11/25 either. It just annoys me that I couldn't get a straight answer about why the phone system stopped giving an estimated shipping date the day before it was supposed to ship.

That the guy "upgraded" me to next day shipping without me asking tells me he was probably lying about everything being on schedule and the "upgrade" was really just to try to get the comp to me by the 12/2 EDD. If that were the case, and he had been straight with me, I'd be fine with it. I don't, however, appreciate being lied to, especially when they've already screwed so much up.

Just to add: as I was typing this reply, I checked my order status again. The website now lists an "updated" EDD of 12/8. I'm not very happy

ETA: EPP customer service is closed, but I guess I know what I'm doing first thing when I wake up.

woodstock that is a very quick turn around to the boxing stage. is that a US order?

    Abacazoom, xoAmyox,

If it any help mine changed to shipped a couple of days ago and it took over 24 hours for the tracking link to start working and the only ETA I have is within 4 days. of the original ship date, in my case the 23rd.

Mine just shows as left manufacturing facility in China on the 23rd and nothing else so maybe it's waiting for yours to catch up so they can travel together :D

So I called the EPP number that I was given by the rep I placed the order with this morning. He is on vacation until 11/27 and left an extension for another rep to call for immediate help while he's gone. The only problem is the extension he gave is 6 digits and the number only accepts 7 digit extensions.

I then talked to some random woman in India. She couldn't give me a straight answer about why my EDD was pushed back or why it didn't ship yesterday like the automated system has been telling me it would for the last month. She basically said to ignore the new EDD and assured me that it would ship and I'd receive it early next week (first she said it would probably ship on Friday, then she said it would ship by 12/2).

Strangely, she also acknowledged that a lot of SXPS 16 orders had been delayed and said that all of those orders had been expedited. I'm now pretty convinced that "expedited" means "I want to make you feel better long enough to get you off the phone." When I re-placed my order on 11/3, the rep (who sounded like he was in America, or North America at least) said that he would put in a request for it to be expedited and that if that request was approved, my computer would arrive before the EDD of 12/2 and that the closer EDD would most likely be changed in the system. Obviously, his request wasn't accepted.

In all of this, one of the most frustrating things is the reps in India don't seem to speak English well enough to get sarcasm or understand when a person is really annoyed. It'd be kinda funny actually, if I weren't so annoyed.

Nick29, so your order is still listed as boxing?

(Both the order status web page and phone line still list my EDD as 12/9, despite the phone line reporting the boxing stage since Monday. I'd like to think that my order will actually ship either today or Friday, but my hopes are getting a bit dashed... that said, I won't raise hell unless they push my EDD again.. in which case, I'll cancel altogether.)

Yup, the phone system still lists it as being in the boxing stage. I'm really starting to think they just decided (for whatever reason) that my order wouldn't be able to ship yesterday, and the rep I spoke to on the phone "upgraded" my shipping to try to meet the EDD. I don't appreciate him apparently lying to me about the lack of delays though.

If he had said "I'm sorry, but we're not going to be able to ship it today as planned, and with Thanksgiving being on Thursday, it's going to take a couple more days. But, I'll upgrade your shipping to next day so hopefully it'll still be here on 12/2" I would be frustrated, but would have appreciated that he acknowledged they messed up and was trying to do something to improve the situation. Instead, he blew smoke up my butt and acted like he was doing me a favor.

fwiw, I just sent this email to a rep who is hopefully in the US

I have had a little bit of progress also:

    Current Order Status:
...on Support: In Production (EDD of 12/10)
...on My Account: In Production (EDD of N/A)
...on Order Status: In Production (EDD of N/A)

OLD: ...via 1-800-283-2210 3,2,1,1: Currently being processed (EDD of 12/10)

Thanks for the tip, sometimes you may also need to add a 0 to the beginning of your order number.

I've just done the above, and can see that my parcel left china at 5.30pm and will be delivered to me within 4 days :D

Does anyone know if they might deliver on a Saturday or only in the week?

Well, I've cancelled mine. Ordered 10/5 with EDD 11/6, cancelled/reordered with correct WiFi no. on 11/9 with new EDD 12/8. Dell rep got in touch with me after I angry-emailed the Michael Dell email, and he said that even now my laptop was still in pre-production with multiple parts unavailable. Although he couldn't specify which. After he said that my laptop wouldn't be getting to me by 12/8, I cancelled and ordered an HP dv7t quad instead. Given the issues with the order and the power problem that's come up on the owner's thread, it's good riddance. Good luck to the rest of you.

Feel the love... My first "rep" said he'd look into some kind of "good will", in the form of a gift card or upgrade. Since then, any time I've mentioned it, I've been blown off. So, today, I receive this:
Regardless of the fact that I'm seeing people upgraded or given gift cards or, heck, even receiving their systems that they ordered after my SECOND order, they're doing everything they can to stick it somewhere dark.

This computer had better be all that I'm expecting it to be...

I've got a feeling, that no email request for compensation would ever be successful. If you were to recieve email confirmation that they were going to give you any, it would be a written precident for others to use against them.
Also, just because you got this email, doesnt mean you cant call them up and try it on. I got £50 off my order just for 9 days delay, you should get waaaaay more than this.

I've spoken with them over the phone. The guy who offered good will has been sick all week, so I've been dealing with a different guy - the one who sent the letter. He's been nothing but rude. I replied to both guys and their supervisor. I'm really not expecting anything at this point, other than my notebook (which, hopefully, will get here next week).

After I canceled with Dell, I got this e-mail:

"We had to make a change to your order due to a Dell operations request. The original order did not quoted with the correct sku number for Dell Bluetooth Travel mouse. Therefore, we had to cancel your original order and resubmit the order with the correct sku number."

    Pretty standard really.

So according to this e-mail, they canceled my entire order for an accessory mouse and then re-ordered it after I canceled. This would have pushed my EDD from 30 Nov to 18 Dec. Since I was able to cancel again without a re-stocking fee, I am going to wait a little and see if they can fix the power problem with the AC adapter.

Has anyone asked dell why does the preliminary ship date says 12/16/09 if you buy one today and no components are delayed? That should be fraudulent advertising if there is actually a delay, but they say there are no delays, and on top of that give a false date. It seems like that date does not estimate anything, but is 3 weeks from order date. On my next call I'm going to bring that up.

Its not fraudulent advertising as its 'preliminary' or 'estimated' delivery dates. Also their t's & c's will say that they can never guarantee delivery dates.

Any representative will also tell you that the dates on the site are computer generated, and they arent to know of any delays until your order is in line to be made and the compile the parts. With so many different factories across the country/world they cant estimate for each individual one. Also, parts come in and go out so often its always difficult to be sure.
I'm not on DELL's side here, but I can see why not every date given on every countries' website can be accurate.

The main problem I have is that they show no optional components are delayed. If you click on preliminary date, it says it would list all the optional components that are causing delays, and the length of the delay. Currenlty it says "none". From this thread, we know for sure that RGBLED, i720, and maybe the 500GB hard drive should be listed. That way a person ordering can avoid those components. Otherwise they should just get rid of that section, instead of making it seem like there are no delays, which is what I thought when I ordered last week.

I think the problem is lack of feedback we get about our orders. They mentioned those things to be delayed. From what it sounds the the laptops that got shipped before others. I really find it hard to believe they were telling the full truth. We will probably never know though, the responses people have posted and lack of feedback is just awful.

Dell is now saying multiple parts are out of stock for the 1645, which is why I'm still in pre-production. I dunno why I call other then for the cathartic release of screaming at people.
