I'm starting to calm down. When I returned from lunch I thought what the hell let's check for the 15th time today. And what do I find? My order now says it has shipped. I called the phone service to verify and it also says that it has shipped. No tracking info as of yet, so I'm still not counting those chickens. Could just be a ruse to keep me hanging on. Yes, I'm cynical, but Dell made me this way.
Edit: Got my tracking info. Funny thing to me is that it did indeed ship from Nashville - just a couple of miles from my house. And yet still so far away![]()
-
Not a ruse for me. Got a tracking number and Fedex called me to confirm that I'll be there tomorrow.
Anyone have an original order date older than me? Mine was 10/9 -
Me. Mine was 10/5
Dell rep has been updating me constantly. (sounds like they are getting the message about bad service). Today he called and said it shows that it should be at my door TODAY!.
Check this out, He also said he will be calling to see how its working and that i am totally satisfied with my laptop. Wow at least their trying now...... -
The fun part for me is they shipped it to my home and not my office. Gotta see if they can change it...

Current Order Status: (Ordered 11/13)
...on Support: Shipped (EDD of 12/10)
...on My Account: Shipped (EDD of 12/10) (Shipping data not available)
...on Order Status: Shipped (EDD of 12/10)
...via 1-800-433-9014: "Currently being processed" (EDD of 12/10) (lol)
...via 1-800-283-2210 3,2,1,1: "This order has shipped, and is in transit to the carrier." (EDD of "that's all the information I have right now")
Time to delete Dell's status update numbers that I had saved on my phone -
I really think that the main problem is the i7 processors.
In my opinion, they send laptops by waves each time they've got a delivery from Intel.
That makes sense with all I have read here. -
- 17 Processor
- Bluetooth module
- 500 gig Hard Drive
-
I am expecting my dell xps 1645 to be delivered tomorrow (live in Canada).
Nov 30: Order Date (EDD 12/25)
Nov 30- Dec 7 : In production
Dec 7 evening: delivery peparation
Dec 8 morning: Shipped (Purolator told me to expect my laptop to be delivered Dec 14th at the earliest).
Dec 9 evening (Today): My tracking information says it is in transit and it has already been picked up by the courier. I call to get an update and courier company told me that it will be delivered tomorrow(Dec 10th).
Overall I am pretty satisfied with Dell's speed on producing and shipping out these xps 1645s. -
I ordered mine on 11/30 with a EDD of 12/25, hopefully it will arrive much sooner considering jiakev just received his. Although I can see the RGBLED and the 500gb slowing my time down in comparison to his relatively stock model.
-
Got mine. Was it worth the wait? yes. no dead pixels, plays bluray with out a hitch, beautiful screen, super fast loads. overall so far i don't regret anything.
This thing is awesome fresh out of the box. Cant wait till this weekend when i can really dig into it. I'm a happy camper.
Note: the first thing i did was flash bios to a03 before anything else. Other than that, all factory settings so far. -
Funny thing about the 1645 now is that RGBLED and 9cell batt is now standard...I ordered mine for my Bday yesterday and I think now that they have prob streamlined production I prob will get mine way earlier than the jan-10 estimated delivery date..
-
I don't think that the RGBLed is a reason for the delays. Xps 1640 can have it and they don't have any delay in their delivery time.
But as I can see, most of us who have been delayed to january have already received their laptops or they are on the way.
Somethinh is weird, dell just called me and they asked me a lot of questions like : my mail address, my previous address, how long am i at this address, what is the name of my bank, their telephone number...
She told me that is normal but this is the first time for me... Do all of you have received this kind of call? -
For me, I used my Dell Preferred acct for the 12 months no interest. and they put my order on hold from lastnight, I called them this morning, and they said they had to call me back.. to verify my phone numbers.
I am thinking that at somepoint they got screwed and they are double checking that people who order online are actually the right people...
As for additional information. i wasn't asked any. they just asked for my phone # after I called them then promptly called me back. and my order went through
-
It arrived!! Time to put 7 on and bid ya'll adios. Time to join the big kid's table.
Lemon out. -

I've been pretty patient, but finals are coming up soon and I really would LOVE to stop having to walk to the library in 20 degree weather every time I need a computer. Is there anything Ic an do? Any input would be appreciated.
-Eric -
Where are you ordering from Just Mark. I ordered mine a day after you did 12/5 EDD 1/5/2010. My account still says In production and their automated phone service still says processing. My configuration is much like yours.
-
Yes. It has shipped. It will be here by 3pm tomorrow.
Order Date: 11/28
Original EDD: 12/22
New EDD: 12/11 -
I ordered on 12/3 and the website still says "In Production" with the phone status saying it's in the "Boxing" stage. Hopefully it ships soon, I really want this thing
-
-
Grats to the people who's orders have shipped
-
Ordered in US East Coast. FedEx tracking shows it shipped out of New Jersy.
-
I just called the 1-800-283-2210 number and it says my order status is "In Boxing". I don't know whether to be happy about this or not. The online report says "In production" The Phone status that starts with 433 says "Order Is Processing". This is really confusing. Lol
-
Teardrop, I went with the 283 phone number. It seemed to be the most accurate. Online always said in production for me until it shipped.
-
-
Sadly I am still stuck IN PRODUCTION hell. Re-oder date 11/30, EDD 12/22.
I feel like an antsy five year - where's mine? -
Glad to see these are moving -- I mean forward momentum is a very good thing...
Not sure how orders identical to mine, but place two weeks after mine, are shipping while I am still in production; however, forward momentum is good.. -
-
I finally got it!
So I decide to stay home from work today to eagerly await my laptop's arrival from FedEx. I check the website status throughout the day and notice that it's still just chillin at the local FedEx facility. I finally call around 2pm and find out that they "must have overlooked it" this morning and offer to ship it out first thing tomorrow. I decline, drive the 20 minutes and pick it up myself. It had a first-class drive home
If you ordered (or will order) your laptop with the X-Fi MB, have the customer service number ready when you get the laptop. Dell didn't give me the CD, but instead gave me two copies of Windows 7. Turns out in the amount of time it takes to install Windows 7, I can start and finish an online chat session with a rep requesting that they send me my disc.
(You'll need that disk because it comes with an activation code too)
To anyone who's still considering: this thing is amazing, and worth getting. From packaging to powerup to reinstall to actual use, this laptop has been an absolute pleasure. -
I ordered monday 12/07/2009 at about 10pm, and my system was listed as "in production" by 11am the next morning. Hopefully that means I'm getting fast service, but as I haven't ordered a computer online for 7 years I can't be sure. Hopefully it'll be here by new year's...
-
Mine just shipped! Should have it Monday. Not bad at all considering I placed my order on the 3rd. So 11 days from order to received.
-
Can you put your system configuration on your signature please?
It will be easier for all of us to have an idea about our own order delay according to the configurations and customers.
Thanks -
Warrer3: have you checked the 1-800-283-2210 3,2,1,1 recently? I checked it today and I was upgraded to 'Boxing'. I have hopes I will get it before Christmas instead of my EDD of 12/30.
-
Only oddity on my order is I know I ordered the RGBLED screen and the description says Full HD WLED so I'll see what it is when it arrives, didn't feel like delaying my order by calling them, worst case I'll just have them swap it or give me a credit. -
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=433085
This has been a common problem I guess with peoples invoices. Mine is the same way. I am patiently waiting for the FedEx guy to show up. He's late today!! -
My order is already faster than the previous one, in 4 days the order passed the stages "Order Processing", "Pre-Production" and a Dell Rep called me to verify the billing and mail addresses if they are correct.
I think that I can trust my Sales Rep this time when he told me that I'll have certainly my system before the end of the month.
Btw,what is your order date Galan444 ?
Fingers crossed. -
Why does the sequence of shipping see so random?
-
-
-
-
Well, I've stopped to guess with Dell but yeh you're right why not this time?
When your order entered in the Boxing stage? And for how long?
Thanks -
-
Ordered on 12/5, and now it's 12/11 and it's still in "Order Processing". Called the credit company to approve the payment on the 6th. Really don't know what's going on, sent out an email today.
-
Yeah, Dells kinda worn down my Christmas cheer to a nub, but hoping against hope that Santa will come through in the clutch.
-
Was I supposed to recieve a call from Dell about my order? I didn't, but it was in build stage the day after I ordered so I assume it all went through correctly. There was one funny bit, though - in my order confirmation email, they had my wrong address and phone number, from the last time I ordered a computer (7ish years ago). When I checked my account online everything was as it should be with correct address and all and the transaction seems to have gone through okay, but should I still be concerned?
EDIT - I ordered on 12/07 by the way. Check signature for configuration.
