I can't add it to my account since it was not a Home & Home Office order. It was EPP. Mine isn't in pre-production though, I have confirmed it through several online reps and several phone reps plus the lady who was assigned to my account. AKA account specialist after my debate on the rgbled screen with them.

Here's how my story goes
Ordered on 1/11/10 one of the mistake 1647 with 5730
EDD was 2/05/10
Sat in pre-production till i called to comfirm it was going to come to me, They told me there was a problem and would expidite the order. They didn't say anything about the card problem that was on 2/02/10 so they changed my order to the 4670 but did not tell me this..
New edd was 2/19/10
I Called and complained that they changed my order with out explaining it to me? on 2/03/10
they than made a new order giving me a discount. with a new edd of 2/22/10
So i called and complained that the delivery was unaceptable , and if they had told me about the problem when i ordered it , i would have it already
Now my Status is shipped 02/07/10 -

Called customer care, asked for supervisor. Supervisor looked at my case notes and told me that the 6-cell battery was short (that's what they told me yesterday when i called them!)
Next, I asked the supervisor to call the order modification department and have a 3-way teleconference, which he agreed to!
Order Modification department agent - at first tells us that the order has to be canceled because ---** drum rolls **--- the sku for the facial recognition software is invalid !!!............. and I was like - !!!!! Are you serious????? Even the dell supervisor was taken back by this response. We were told that the only way to proceed was cancel and replace this order without the facial recognition software!!!!!!!!! Then, we were put on hold for 'additional confirmation with another team'....for a few mins. All the way, the dell supervisor was with me on the call (which is great). After a few mins of hold, the agent came back and told us that there is no shortage of parts and all looks good with the order and its already expedited!
I then asked if all parts are in stock, why hasn't the order gone to production yet to which the agent did not have any answer. I then demanded to speak to the supervisor at the order modification and the customer care supervisor too agreed and requested for a order modification supervisor.
After waiting for few more minutes, we got the order modification superior on line. He had a look at the system and told us that the RGB screens were back ordered and causing the delays, which was totally contradicting what his agent had told us!. It was humiliating for the dell customer care supervisor (facial recognition to all is good to rgb shortage- all in the same call!!).
Finally i was told that the shipment should arrive mid this week and the status of the order should change to 'production' by Friday. All this discussion was documented against my case note (now has a case number). I was told that I would be getting next day shipping for my trouble.
The dell customer care supervisor had a first hand experience of the 'hell' that we all were going through. I wish every dell employee in the corporate goes through this hell.
Having said all this, all that can be done now is wait till friday and see if the status really changes. -
I had my dell account rep add my order to my account. Mine says IN Production and is on time so hopefully I'll get it this Thursday
but we shall see.

-
mine still in build... ordered on 1/16 ... now they say one more week of delay .. edd is 3/1 ..... haven't yet got the email -- but rep told me delayed.
looking at the W860CU from clevo/sager...(NP8690) as an alternative. -
Mine was only in the boxing stage all day Monday, Tuesday and shipped Wednesday night so hopefully yours will do the same.
-
-
I'm now just debating whether or not to authorize the week delay or not. -

well,..here is what i am looking :
W860CU (same as sager NP8690)
i7-620M
15.6” Full HD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080) with Super Clear Glare Type Screen
Intel® PM55 Chipset
4 GB RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX 285M with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory Gaphics
500GB 7200 RPM HDD
1 Year Premium Parts Warranty + 3 Year Labor
the good:
has better processor - i7 620m, better video card, fingerprint scanner, dual fans, will ship in 3 to 4 days, excellent build, very good reviews, no heat issues, no known throttling issues..
bad:
warranty is less than what i have with dell right now, screen is led and not rgbled, battery is not as great by desgin.
same:
rest of it - FHD screen...PM55 chipset, etc.etc..
Cost:
new config $1650 ;
dell: $1681
I haven't yet got a delay 'email' from dell yet.. but i expect it in my email box sometime later at night (1 AM or so!)... which threatens to cancel the order if not called within 24 hrs........ and i am seriously considering cancelling this time.
btw, my orderstatus still says 'build' since last thursday....... (on 3,2,1, 1, number now) -
-
It also said "Delivery preparation" on my main account page too.

In production on the website (all pages) -
I am gonna tell you guys right now. I am using the sxps to type on and it is worth it. The RGBLED screen is amazing. I have never seen anything look so good on a laptop. The color just make the image pop off the screen even when on the battery. I am so glad I waited it out, it was worth the long wait.
-
I should of gotten 1 day shipping -.- lol
-
Well I got my inevitable delay email saying action is required and a new EDD of 2/25/10. At least it's on a Thursday now instead of Friday meaning next week should be the week I get it. I think I'll try pressuring the rep to try and issue a small credit for this fourth delay email and all the hassle they've created this month.
-
pushed to 3/1

A bit more good news on my end. Called Dell to extend my order and complained about the delay some more. They transferred me to sales resolution where the rep told me that people in my situation were being put on a list for a $50 credit on their systems. They gave me a ticket number and told me to contact returns when I get my system to put the refund through. The rep also told me that this delay email would be the final one that I'd be getting at that my system would be pushed out the door in 2 business days. Sure it wasn't the $75 I think mattmjb0188 got but it's good enough for me.
I suggest those who are in a similar situation call and get their credit and possibly a more accurate status on their system. Also push for an upgrade to overnight shipping if you haven't already. It's time we got our money and time's worth from Dell. -
@Straphanger-- Good for you, get what you can from them for all the delays.
